#FunFriday: Episode 5 - Duration: 3:39.

Hi, welcome to another Fun Friday video

You might remember a couple of videos back

Where I went to the store and I bought some cereal

This week's video also features cereal

and marshmallows

That's right. This week we're going to be making

rice krispy treats

So

Making rice krispy treats is very easy

So easy in fact, that on the box

they include

how to do it

So, um

I'm terrible at cooking

so it's probably in my best interest

to follow these instructions to the letter

So according to this its only 3 steps

until you're eating rice krispy treats

which is great

So step 1 says:

Remove heat

That's a lot to do in one step

but lets do it

Alright, so we've added the 3 tablespoons of butter

that we need into the pot

on to low heat

And then the next step was to

add 10 ounces of marshmallows

and this bag of marshmallows right here

happens to just be 10 ounces

So we're just going to add the whole thing.

I guess we just...

Dump 'em all in? Or does the butter need to melt?

I guess it is melting

it's just not melting fast enough

Alright, so the butter is now pretty well melted

so it says to add

the marshmallows

So, I guess I'm just gonna dump 'em all right in.

So, now we start to stir.

Now, I'm a firm believer

that homemade rice krispy treats

are WAAAY better

than the ones that you buy in the store

Doesn't that look delicious?

So now it says what we do is

we remove the heat.

So I guess I'll turn the heat off.

The heat is removed.

And then it says to add

6 cups of the cereal

I don't have a full cup, so I have a half cup

So according to math that means

I need to put 12 of these in there.

Right, math teachers from school?

That's what I gotta do, right?

Add

1 cup

and mix that in.

Why is this looking all...

it's looking all weird

and pasty

it's not right looking.

Maybe if I move it further from the heat.

I have to get my top angle

So I've gotta move my camera over

the removed heat

So I was trying to keep that out of frame

but I just, I couldn't do it for the whole time.

So, sorry.

Keep stirring.

Can this really take 6 cups of this?

This seems ridiculous.

I think, really what I need to do is taste test.

Um

It tastes good.

I shouldn't have just ate off of the spoon

because I gotta keep stirring it.

That was a bad idea.

This is one for stirring, this is one for eating.

I think they're done.

Yeah

So before I put them in

I'm gonna spray the pan real quick.

Somehow they're supposed to spread evenly

or something.

I don't know how well that's going to go.

You like, mush it in

with the wax paper

make it

more flatter.

I guess that kind of worked?

They're very thin.

I don't know where I went wrong there.

But, there we go.

The rice krispy treats are done.

Feel free to follow along with the video

if you want to make rice krispy treats on your own.

Thank you for watching

and tune in next time for the next Fun Friday video

Queue in JavaScript using TDD. Data Structures for Front-end: #2.4 the hidden Gems (the Good Parts) - Duration: 5:46.

A data structure is a particular way of organizing data in a computer's memory.

Nonetheless, do we really need data structures in the Frontend development?

The answer is yes.

I'll show you why.

Hi!

Let's talk today about a data structure, namely Queue and its realization in JavaScript.

I'm Anatol and you are watching the Good Parts of the Frontend development.

Let's start from the definition.

What is the Queue.

A queue is an abstract data type or collection of elements.

The order in which elements come off a queue is following, first in is first out (FIFO).

Where is a place for Queue in the front-end development?

Queues are used in browser events processing They serve for buffering data in HTML5 audio

and video tags Queues also help keeping the events' order

in the jQuery application As well it is involved into serving orders

in the e-commerce applications in order to supply the proper order processing.

Do you have another experience?

Leave it in the comments below.

The two operations are applicable to all queue: Enqueue: a data item is placed to the back

of the queue Dequeue: a data item is removed from the front

of the queue Additionally, a Peek operation may give access

to the top without modifying the queue.

It is possible to have a double-ended queue, for which elements can be added to or removed

from either the front or back.

There is also a priority queue, where additionally each element has a "priority".

An element with high priority is served before an element with low priority.

Addition is O(1).

Because you always add to the back of the line

Removal is O(1) Because you always remove from the front of the line

Search is O(n).

Because you need to iterate over all elements until you found a desired value.

Let's dive in the code.

Use package.json file created in the previous episode.

Use mocha for testing create test file

describe test Use Queue for testing the sequence processing

enqueue orders check queue length

Peek it

Dequeue and Dequeue one more time

check final state run test

Test failed, it's ok.

Now create Queue class constructor with elements and length

Enqueue method add item and increment length

Dequeue method check for zero length and extract item

Peek method and export module

run test again test is green

My code is available on GitHub.

Documentation is available in the Internet.

Follow the links if you're eager to get more.

If you like this video give it "thumbs up", share it with your friends, subscribe to the

channel and watch other episodes.

This is all for this week.

Thanks for watching and dive deeper.

Filling in the Gaps - Duration: 2:24.

How long do you spend commuting to work or school?

For me, back in my last two years of high school I was commuting two hours a day, ten

hours a week.

That was nearly a waking day of my life, gone!

That much driving is uncommon for students, but in the workforce it has become rather

normal, almost like a badge of superiority.

Don't complain to the guy who travels the most.

I mean it makes sense, but at the same time is unreasonable.

We can't avoid traveling completely, but we have the ability to remedy it.

If they do nothing to fix the problem; we can't complain.

The best case scenario would be to move to a central location in the middle of where

we travel the most.

That will cut down on travel time immensely, although, we're still going to be stuck traveling

at some point.

So what do we do in that time?

Music is popular one.

It takes us out of our head and makes the trip seem quicker, but is that really an effective

use of our time?

We end the commute no better than when we started.

Do the math.

Add up your total commute per year.

How many days did you lose?

It's a lot, right?

Now take all of that time and imagine putting it to good use.

We can learn something new, do a little extra work, imagine anything, but traveling.

There's a lot we can do, right?

Sadly, it's difficult to start learning how to play the saxophone or make pottery on our

travels, but we can listen.

Exchange the music for audio books, podcasts, sources of information, all of which, will

have profound effects in your day to day life.

Break free from the mindless travel.

Grow from the people that you admire.

It's easy to start listening, but you also have to adapt it in your own life.

By doing this, you will become a more successful person.

It won't be instant, but you will see more success.

I was amazed at how much I can actually learn by filling in those gaps in my life.

So just try it!

It's not like you'll be doing anything better anyway.
