lecture 1 topics not covered

hi I'm Jonathan thousand i'll be your

instructor for this course I've been on

amazon for about three years but i have

a wealth of experience in e-commerce if

you plan on taking notes

I have all these powerpoints in outline

format in the resource section along

with my book also currently my method is

built for the Amazon US marketplace if

you are international student please

start with the u.s. amazon marketplace

as it is traffic the most and has the

most services pertaining to it also my

course is made for those private

labeling products if you plan on

dropshipping other brands my course

method simply won't work for you i'm

going to begin by talking to you about

the topics i won't be covering in this

course setting up an amazon account and

getting the ein are both covered in the

book but i won't be tackling them in the

video form here for taxes simply go to

tax jar calm and download the e-book

most courses don't cover this but it's

extremely important so how I suggest you

go there and check out their ebook I

won't cover sourcing here either but i

like to you two notes number one is that

dhgate.com is my favorite to source from

because they have a lot of products that

offer free shipping and i highly suggest

you go to import dojo dot-com for

sourcing help as I stated before all the

topics that could be considered for

beginners are covered in the beginning

portions of my free resource had a

question on amazon deluxe version which

to do that for you as well on to lecture

too

let you to brand strategy welcome back i

want to start by saying there is no

perfect product you can eliminate risk

completely when it comes to anything

especially amazon the landscape can

change with any rule or algorithm change

even too many bad reviews realize

however you can't fail in our products

business adding a product can boost your

income seemingly overnight because of

this no matter what needs you pick you

can meet your financial goals one SKU

product business is rarely word instead

of red bull or five-hour energy you want

to be coca-cola or her shes you want to

model yourself after two of the most

recognizable companies on amazon spittin

auroch so good as you can see here i

pulled up spitting you want different

product types and multiple BSR ranges

pigeon mostly dominates in the cases

category but they have USB cords and

power banks as well

they also cover the Android and Apple

marketplaces have also recently just

added this selfie stick typing in toxic

good you also find a similar situation

where they dominate the home in kitchen

category of amazon recently just

expanded to the bathroom products as

well which is a good move on their part

ideally cock so good and spitting are

the companies you want to be in the

amazon marketplace they can easily begin

moving their products to other

marketplaces and dominate there as well

the goal here is to create a brand you

don't need a perfect product because you

have many products and they all should

be in high demand on amazon and other

marketplaces Amazon's top categories are

supplements health and beauty home

kitchen and mobile accessories the lower

competition categories are sports and

outdoors and traveled with my system

your rise in the low competition

categories should be very very quick in

the high competition categories even

moderate success is enough to set you up

for a long haul and a very successful

career and the e-commerce business

the first product is the most important

but I imagine most of you have gotten

your first product online already

products that follow-up should simply

add to your bottom line hopefully the

prophets acquired from your first

product should be able to find your next

product opportunities the in-demand

product this is the most important

factor for the business for my first

product I like to aim for something in

the one to two thousand BSR rain if you

can't give away your product for free

you're dead in the water and with every

product you pick you should always go

small and lightweight to avoid costly

shipping charges

I know this sounds like basic knowledge

but all ties together with my method

that will be revealed in the next module

onto lecture 3

shipping charges

I know this sounds like basic knowledge

with all ties together with my method

that will be revealed in the next module

onto lecture 3

lecture 3 best FBA products

welcome back today we're going to start

with the dangerous products don't try to

compete with huggies it's not going to

work out there are tried-and-true brands

that everyone trusts if you think of a

product and automatically think of a

brand name is best to avoid for example

if you think batteries

I'm going to think about yourself so

that's a product I don't want to get

heavy items you want to avoid for the

shipping costs especially coming from

China avoid large items for the same

reason

also you want evergreen products you

want products that sell all year long

not just during christmas or other

holidays these are the questions you

asked yourself anytime you come across a

new product opportunity most or all of

these questions and their answers should

be met you want a nice where you can

have multiple products in the same space

if a product reviews are over 1,000 it's

ok for two reasons and was on promotes

your product without the top product

being around so you have a chance to win

a sale simply because the number one

product isn't around at the time in the

person's email to meet your financial

goals you don't have to be number one

usually if you beat the third product

down and reviews you can find yourself

in a good sale space the customizability

question lets you know if you'll be able

to stand out above the crowd by simply

having a superior product will go more

into depth on that later

these are the highest demand categories

on amazon two missing categories are

supplements and mobile accessories if

you're already in these categories you

can still use my strategy but you may

have to give way more units to compete

or have a significant result these

categories are great to get started in

the competition may be fierce but the

prophets are worth it

some additional attributes when it comes

to picking a product if the BSR is low

and the reviews are under 400 this may

be a good product to go into however I

suggest monitoring the product for a

week or so to make sure they are

employed my strategy

return customers is one of the biggest

assets in the e-commerce business

although it's mostly limited to edible

products like supplements somebody

marketplaces cater to women it's almost

a better ecommerce asset I suggest going

into at least one mesh with women as

your target demographic these are some

other factors that may give you an

advantage the pretty self-explanatory

if you have a budget that allows you to

customize or improve the quality of your

product do it

this will help your product be easier

sell moving on the price when choosing

the product make sure it costs at least

15 to 40 dollars on amazon if a product

is lower than seven dollars it's

absolutely too low and you shouldn't go

into it you can advertise your product

properly in the future with the three

dollar profit margin once lecture 4

lecture for recommendations

welcome back I know these lectures short

remember this is just the overview

these are things that other courses

should have taught you but I'm just

going back to make sure that they're in

place so when you use my strategy

it'll be used correctly and you have the

best possible chance of success using it

alright these are personal

recommendations stop wasting time with

retail arbitrage or drop shipping on

amazon you want to go after bigger

margins and you want to build a real

business a business on amazon is step

one you want to merely leverage amazon

your product is bigger than amazon think

wholesale think retail think other

marketplaces amazon is simply a tool

you're using to build revenue so you can

launch a legit product based business

and have customers all over the world

you are absolutely going to need at

least 500 units to test the product

properly if your funds are low ship 250

private label products to the Amazon

warehouse and have a supplier have 2015

maybe even unbranded or unpackaged but

ready to go put down a small down

payment if the product doesn't work out

don't ship it and let the cup factory

keep the down payment for the trouble I

know it seems like a lot

chinese love negotiation and the money

you give them for their trouble will

definitely worth it for them

alright i thought it takes some time to

explain the next lecture my next lecture

is a previous record I did that not only

is an overview of my book but my courses

well feel free to skip over the first

portion as this course covers everything

after sourcing again don't worry about

purchasing the e-book you already

received it for free plus more

you can also skip it altogether as I

cover each portion in detail in the

course see you again in lecture 6

lecture 5 course overview

today we're going to talk about how to

crushing on amazon or my more click

babyy title want to buy an Amazon course

let me say you $5,000 after looking at a

sales video similar to this

I was a bit skeptical so I took what

they gave me and put a plan in action

probably but the product that was

already number one home kitchen the

bacon man i bought 500 of them put my

own label on it because goods and gave

them away to about 13 and my friends and

family and had them write reviews our

product from there with no ad dollars

spent on my part went on to sell out all

my mats within six months I knew that

this business model was real and the

best business opportunity on the web

today and then what you're going to say

next

how is that it was sell out with so few

reviews the top product at the time had

over 1,000 i'll get to that in a minute

why Amazon Amazon at the biggest

e-commerce platform on the internet this

is largely due to the third parties our

system where people like you and I can

list our products on there already

well-established website the beauty of

amazon is all you need is a product in

an optimized listing you don't need a

site no pain for ads no big endorsements

or joint partnerships and no list

building on your part

amazon takes care of everything for you

the next big advantage of amazon is the

FBA system or fulfillment by amazon

system you don't need a warehouse and

you don't ship your product each

customer you send your product in the

Amazon and they take care of the

shipping process for you all you need is

a professional account this cost about

forty dollars a month

this is a pain point for most ebay

sellers but it's well worth it

Amazon's marketing strategy is the

reason why eating with Sophie reviews i

was able to set out of my product within

six months

amazon since email blast puts banner and

text ads in front of its customers who

are already interested in the kind of

products you cared so the person never

sees the 1000 reviews

product that's exactly the same as mine

and they only see mine with 13 really

good reviews than the personal buy my

product simply because the person with

1000 reviews wasn't present when they

were finally ready to purchase this

house able to sell out with no a dollar

spent on my part

amazon that all the work for me with the

thought that shaft to create a brand in

mind bringing in demand products to the

amazon marketplace is the most important

factor in this business if you pick a

product you can't give away your in a

losing battle

how do I know if a product is in the man

amazon helps us out with what's known as

a BSR or bestsellers rank this rank

number indicates the number of sales and

product has in relation to other

products within the category the lower

the number the more sales the product

has i highly suggest for your first

product you aim for something in the one

to two thousand BSR range saying that

don't get hung up on trying to find the

perfect product you'll be building a

brand in time you want to invest in many

products see the Miss stocks now I'm

going to take you over to amazon and

show you what the BSR is all about

alright this is what I model my first

product after the artisan baking mat

although i only have one in my pack

rather than to you can find the BSR in a

section some of this under product

details as you can see this PSR is 163

in kitchen dying so as you can see was

number one product a year ago and now

it's fallen all the way here but this is

what you want you want a product that's

less than 2,000 in this area in the

parent category which is here kitchen

and dining you want every product to be

lightweight and small this helps when it

comes to shipping cause you also want to

research regulations and certifications

required for the product in your country

for example supplements are highly

suggest you don't do those on your first

round

now i'm going to show you how to find

these products this is your first free

gift

you're going to take a search during its

here in this post

under the in-demand products section

it's it's everything within these

brackets you want the phrase amazon best

sellers rank your desire BSR that you'd

like to find kitchen and dining

represents the parent category this is

also interchangeable with your desired

category make sure this portion is there

because in the case you only want

results from this site which is

amazon.com alright as you can see you

want to go up and down either down one

up once you find a product you feel you

can privately with that small and

lightweight alright so you take that

search string and put it into google and

while we have the 122nd kitchen and

dining right here hundred and sixty-four

country 20 spoons and 69 it's actually

the number one bestseller disposable i

can't say i recommend this as a private

label product but now it's interesting

because you about these but you know if

you're not too happy just put in go up

one or up five play around with it

be sure to realize that Google can't

keep up with the vastness of amazon so

rankings change from day to day to find

some interesting to watch it for a week

because someone may be employed some my

strategies sourcing it seems difficult

on the surface but easy if you know

exactly what you're doing you have two

ways to source you can google search for

putting private-label wholesale or OEM

in front of the product name you're

trying to search or you can go to OEM

marketplace like Alibaba aliexpress for

dhgate Alibaba is the most popular and

involves messaging

negotiating supplies before you send the

product market places like aliexpress

dhgate work more like Amazon and more

traditional and that you pick a product

and have it shipped where you need to be

sometimes marketplaces like aliexpress

in dhgate allow you to private label the

products rather than having the white

label sent to you

there are a lot of horror stories about

scams with some of these websites you

can avoid them by simply asking the

supplier for sample supplier won't send

you a sample they may be a scammer

additional Ali Bible you may want to

filter using the gold supplier and the

one mean sales a year filters you also

want to use paypal rather than western

union shipping it's a lot to go over in

this video the best advice I can give

you is to talk to your supplier they can

guide you through the process they

prefer and other shipping options you

may have if you can get free shipping go

for it i always ask for the basics for

smaller quantities you should always

ship by a everyone should do this on the

first shit in it for larger quantities

you want to ship by boat with this

you'll need a freight forwarder for more

information search China imports

shipping from china guide for more

information they get really into it but

don't get discouraged

just ask your supplier and then give you

a streamlined version of the shipping

process that you'll be doing alright FDA

requirements starting out every person

gets a 5000 unit limit for the product

will allow you to hold in the FB a

warehouse unless you have oversized

product like a yoga mat then restricted

to 500 it's important to supply limit

any additional labels or papers on the

outside the box

amazon provides a shipping label and

should be the largest label on the box

your product will also the UPC you can

buy and find more information about

these codes at cheap UPC barcode dot-com

also you'll need a fence cue stick is

applied to each individual items ship

sometimes your manufacturer will apply

the stickers to each product for you

amazon will also do this for you four

feet

the first time i went with the supplier

i make sure we ship it to my house first

and then I should be to the FB warehouse

myself actually do this twice to make

sure the supplier does it right after I

correct suppliers mistakes i have them

ship it directly to the FDA warehouse

from the factory

we've run into your next gift this

service get your products ready for the

FB a warehouse so instead of shipping to

yourself ship to them they are based in

California so for the most part shipping

would be less costly than shipping to

yourself

they also inspect your goods and ship

the FBA for you

this is their website alright they do

lots of stuff to do bundling if you want

to send multiple products together they

will apply the barcode labels for you as

well they get your stuff through customs

so they act as a freight forwarder for

you and they can also add inserts so

customers can join the email list and

follow up with you now that your

products on Amazon it's important to

know that only four things matter and

nothing else

for those of you are already selling you

can take this slide and improve your

conversions tenfold today the first

thing you need is product photos stock

photos from the supplier won't cut it

separate yourself from the pack by

featuring unique product packaging the

next biggest factors reviews start with

your friends and family they are

supportive do a giveaway use rate have

them buy it and then leave a review next

is the ratings

it's easy to get your rating to 45 stars

just fulfill your product promise and

it's supposed to be a gnostic surface

give that to your customers the next to

sales it's a little ironic but you need

sales to be successful amazon that way

they know your product is a goodbye and

start promoting your product for you

you'll need an initial bump to your BSR

this will raise your visibility within

the product search rankings so after 20

so reviews from redditors friends and

family go to a launch service launch

services these services were by you

giving a coupon so people can receive

your product for between one and three

dollars the launch service then email

blast your coupon to list of hungry

amazon buyers this will raise your

product for its related keywords

yourselves rises and more people buy

your products after the blast for the

full price

the two most popular services ours on

blast and virulence use the launch to

your advantage by following up with your

batch of new customers for reviews

you should see these blasts is buying a

bump in rankings as well as reviews but

you have to do the follow-up for the

reviews yourself

here's another gif a secret lot service

called honesty dot-com your first

launched with them is free so now you

can try my method without as much risk

repeat and diversify your bonds after

your blast you should have some success

you should be selling 20-30 minutes a

day with no a dollar spent on your part

after this you need to pick another

product being a nice and after about

four products you should start another

brand diversify your brand's

if one product begins to slip in the

ratings you have other products

supplement your income

-------------------------------------------

The Mini-Truck and Road Runner Episode! - Roadkill Ep. 58 - Duration: 27:30.

- This time on Roadkill, we had no plan whatsoever!

That turned into a clapped out Datsun mini truck,

an epic road trip, a massive purchase,

and a lot of tire smoke, ready?

(engine revving)

Yeah!

(engine revving)

(engine turning)

(tires screeching)

(upbeat rock music)

(engine humming)

- The Mazdarati did not get the

mini truck out of your system?

- No, nothing ever will.

- Really? (laughing)

- Once mini trucks get under your skin, they don't get out.

- They sort of fester?

- It's like scabies.

(laughing)

- We're up near Pismo Beach, California,

not exactly sure where, sort of off in the boondocks.

And we're buying our car for this episode

which is a mini truck.

Now Finnegan has, like, a mini truck kink.

He used to be the editor of Mini Truck Magazine,

and every time he brings it up,

I'm sort of sketched out by it because all I think of

is crazy '80s graphics and too big of wheels,

and all sorts of things, but then there's this.

The 1968 Datsun, which I dig.

Not because its well executed,

but because it is stanced just the right way.

This thing is chopped, the A-pillars are laid back,

they've sectioned the bed down so the wheels are really low,

it's on air.

I think it's really cool.

I just don't know if this thing's

going to make it on the freeway.

How's it going?

- [Shawn] Good.

- You're a mini trucker.

- So are you, huh?

- That's what he says. - I still claim it,

I just wasn't sure if you would.

How you doing?

- Sean. - Mike.

- David Freiburger, how are you?

- Nice to meet you guys. - You too.

- Did you build this or buy it?

- Bought it.

- Yeah?

- [David] This is so cool.

- This is built by a mini trucker,

you can tell by the welds.

This is better than the Jeep rod.

- You think?

Like better engineered or better sketchy?

- No, no, this is better engineered.

- Have you ever driven it?

- Yeah, drove it yesterday.

- Really? - Yeah.

- Cool.

So we're going to survive?

- We'll see!

(laughing)

I got it in fourth gear, so...

- Oh it's a stick?

Even better.

- [Mike] So we have an air tank, we have a compressor.

- [David] Yeah, what kind of travel's in the airbags?

- They go up big.

- Yeah? - Yeah.

It gets...

- Oh no way.

So you can actually steer it.

- You can steer it, yeah, front goes up pretty high.

- Oh wow.

- I'm falling in love.

So two things landed us here.

Number one, I love old Datsuns.

And number two, my car cutting up career

started with mini trucks.

I've owned, I think, four of them

and almost all of them were chopped up,

airbagged, body dropped,

you never get 'em out of your system

once you've dragged something down the highway

and throw sparks and stop traffic.

That never leaves you.

So when I spotted this on Craigslist,

I knew we had to come here.

Feels like I'm 20 again.

- Ooh good.

Now it's a little bit of a tail-dragger, looks cool.

There you go.

Oh yeah, oh, this thing's comfy.

- [Mike] Yeah you look good in there.

- Yeah there's really no problem with this at all.

- Definitely mini trucker owned, polished the valve cover.

Yep, but didn't clean the motor at all.

- This is pretty standard mini truck.

- But we need to test drive it before we buy it.

- We do?

- Yeah.

- Oh, where's your sense of adventure?

- You're right, let's just buy it.

(laughing)

- This is Roadkill dude!

Man this thing is cool.

It's only about this much better than our flat rod Jeep,

but it's got a way more wicked look to it, I dig it.

You know a lot of times, Finnegan and I will

get a new car for Roadkill and we're sitting around going

man, is it a keeper?

What should we do?

I think this one's going to be a keeper.

We could make this really good.

This thing is probably going to kill me.

I mean, we're going to die.

There's no doubt about it.

My back is gonzo.

- Let's go mini truckin'.

- [David] OK!

- Pay the man.

(country rock music)

And we're mini truckin', not the floor.

- Oh nice!

Chicks are digging us already though.

- It's 180 miles to LA, we can do this!

- I'm just waiting for the first time I grind the frame

on the ground and kill my teeth and my back.

- Are you ready?

- No don't do it! - I can make that happen,

I can make that happen!

(engine humming)

- I can hear the drive line vibration already.

- Oh!

Parts are falling off already!

- Oh you didn't need that.

- Does it smell hot to you?

- Nah.

- Did you check any fluids?

- Nah!

We didn't even test drive it!

(laughing)

I feel like we're too high.

(banging)

(laughing)

(rattling)

(laughing)

(rock music)

Wait a minute, I need to set the e-brake.

(banging)

(laughing)

- Here's the thing, this is like Finnegan's

teenage dream vehicle,

and I have my teenage dream vehicle.

Significantly more expensive than this one.

Yeah there's a '71 Roadrunner

up in Pioneer, California that I really want,

and I actually got permission from my wife,

even though it's a lot of money.

I'm non-committal, but we're sort of headed that direction,

so I might pick that thing up.

- Right when we got off the freeway here,

I'm deaf,

I'm wind-blind,

and all of a sudden the dash lights up with red and yellow,

I'm like that's it, we're going to jail,

we're getting pulled over.

Thank God it was an ambulance or something.

We're just floating down the highway

and it's a mini truck, how can you not smile

while driving one of those and getting bugs in your teeth?

(chuckling)

- This morning we're in Paso Robles, California

and Fred Williams from Dirt Every Day lives here.

Like over there somewhere.

So we're going to go visit him and find out

if we can park this underneath one of his trucks.

And I want to force him to drive this around the block,

cuz he's used to stuff that sits up here

and this sits down here.

(whooping)

Think you can get the hood under there?

- I can get the bed of the truck under there,

I don't know if we can get the,

the cab's not going under that

but the bed is going under that.

- Think so?

- Oh yeah.

- [David] Fred baby!

We're going to park under your junk!

- Look at this cute little thing.

- Will it fit?

- Yeah, back it up!

- There ya go.

Just don't hit that driveshaft

- You got it.

You got about two inches on that driveshaft.

- Yeah you can go two to three inches.

- Go, go, go!

- There we go!

- This thing's awesome!

- We're going to force Fred to drive this turd,

and we're going to drive that.

- Oh jeez.

(laughing)

- It's awful isn't it?

- Yeah.

- I'll just use that as a step.

Does this have seatbelts?

- Look at that, we have seatbelts.

(country rock music)

Oh I could actually see the link bar mount

moving on the chassis.

Part of me is enjoying this.

The other part of me is like oh boy,

if he drags a hole in the gas tank,

we're going to have to fix that.

- We'll just take this all the way to wherever we're going.

- Is that you shaking us left to right?

- No!

(laughing) It's doing it!

- What a pile!

- The flat spots in the tires will work their way out

once the tires get a little warm from rolling.

Pull up just so I can't see him which is right there.

(laughing)

How's your rear view look?

- Looks awesome, all I see is

front differential Dana 60.

- [David] Here we go.

Have fun Fred!

(country rock music)

(laughing)

- See you guys later.

- I swear I thought he was going to run over little D.

So Fred went back to his land of four wheelering

or whatever he does, and we were going to keep on

going north until we realized there was dirt

all over the hood of this thing blowing straight in our eyes

and we had to do something about it.

- No lumber racks, no ladder racks,

no dual lanes, we're good.

- Yeah, we've had worse ideas than this one.

You can't drive around in a dirty truck, man,

it doesn't work.

Make sure you get the rainbow polish.

Not responsible for mirrors, don't have those.

Rear windshield, don't have that,

wipers, don't have that,

antennas, bug shield, sun visor, prior damage.

(laughing) Oh my God!

What's in that soap?

- See now that feels good.

Ah.

(laughing)

The next step.

- Oh I forgot about the jet drier.

No stopping now!

All right we're good.

Oh here it comes! - Oh here it comes already!

- [Mike] It'll be flinging GoPro cameras in our face.

- [David] That's what I thought.

- Aw, hell no.

- Oh this is going to be torture.

- Oh boy.

(laughing)

- Why are we doing this?

Just think, this is the driest part of the program.

(whirring)

- Ow! (laughing)

(rattling)

Wow.

All right, we're clear.

(laughing)

Thank you for not getting the spotless rinse

and the spray wax.

- No!

- Oh, wait, wait, wait!

I don't want that!

Ahh! - Ahh!

(laughing)

That was the worst!

That's very waxy.

- Here comes the blow job.

- I want you to linger here.

Oh, that's cold!

- I'm freezing!

- That's very cold!

(laughing)

That's very cold.

Okay, I think you can drive now.

(screaming)

(laughing) Oh my god, it's so cold.

(laughing)

- Ah, the trucks clean.

- I feel better now.

- I actually feel pretty good.

- If you were wondering,

no, it aint worth it.

Don't do this.

- Don't do it.

- If you're thinking about this-

- Just pull the plug.

- Yeah, not worth it.

- Not good.

(country rock music)

We've been driving and suffering

on our way out of Paso Robles up north.

And so we've taken protective measures.

(engine roaring)

Whoa!

Did you see that guy?

- No.

- There was a guy passing those cars

coming right at us.

Wow.

(country rock music)

We're like halfway to Fresno now

and just driving this thing is a fully immersive experience.

With no windshield, it's like riding a motorcycle.

You get every bug on your glasses,

you got wind in your face,

you smell every cow that you drive past,

every slaughter house, every diesel truck.

It's kind of a disaster.

And the other thing is

you drive this thing wide open all the time

and it goes 55 miles-an-hour and that's all you get.

So this is going to turn in to a long night.

It is 7:00 right now.

We got about another two and a half hours to go.

(country rock music)

- I'm having a wagon flashback.

- [David] Me too.

- [Mike] The Wichita.

- At least we're not sharing this time.

Although, I'm equally homeless.

- This is about that cold.

You do look homeless.

- Dude.

So it's only like, I don't know, 55 out or something,

but when you're going 55, 60 miles-an-hour

the windchill is really bad.

And I had a bug hit my lens

that like it left its liver on me.

It was that big.

It was so bad.

Ugh.

You always want to travel the 99 through California

when you're trying to avoid bugs cuz you have no windshield.

Not.

I think it's colder today than it was yesterday.

- Because you're about to drop 11 grand

on a car that you may or may not actually like in person

but will be forced to spend the money

because, well, that's what this whole episode is about.

(laughing)

- That's what it became.

Tell you what, I will drive from here to there

so that when you take the bullet later.

- Oh, no, no, no.

- No? - I'm a man.

I got this.

- When did that start?

- As soon I realized the sun's

on that side of the truck this morning.

And my people don't do well with sunshine.

- I'm thinking that's north.

- Right.

There's the sun.

Your side of the truck.

- Has the sun, right?

- Yeah.

- Warm.

- Oh yeah.

(laughing)

But sunburning.

You'll be on fire by the time we get to the next exit.

- I'm plenty good with that.

- That's what I'm telling myself.

- This by the way, was the best $2.50 I've ever spent.

(engine roaring)

(mellow rock music)

Clear.

- [Mike] This road looks like the end

of Dirty Mary Crazy Larry.

- Yeah, it's almost exactly on the way.

- We should check it out.

- That's not morbid at all.

- [David] Yep, right here.

- This does look familiar.

- Yeah, I think they were coming this way, maybe.

There's the tracks

which are no longer in use.

This is kind of a geeky thing

but one my favorite car chase movies

is Dirty Mary Crazy Larry.

I think 1974, Peter Fonda, Susan George,

even Roddy McDowall's in it.

But at the very, very end of the movie,

I won't spoil it for you. - No, don't give away

the ending.

- But the scene looked a lot like our career.

And (laughing) it happens right there

at the railroad tracks.

This is the very, very end of that movie.

(mellow rock music)

- You drive better than Fonda.

(chuckling)

(country rock music)

(clanking)

(laughing)

- [David] That was bad.

- There's your car.

- We brought all the death with us.

- How are you guys doing?

- How's it going?

- [Brian] Pretty good.

- I'm David.

- Brian.

- How you doin, I'm Mike. - Hi.

- Nice to meet you, David.

- Hi. - Here's Henry.

- Hey Henry.

- Henry's going to be shy but they watch you guys all the time.

- Oh cool!

Thanks guys.

Cool.

- So how long have you had the Roadrunner for?

- [Brian] We've had that for just about a year.

- [David] And when you got had it been sitting a long time?

- Sitting a long time, yeah.

- [David] He has the air grabber too.

- This is a big car.

- Yeah, Bee bodies are not small.

Well, we're here acquiring my '71 Roadrunner.

This story all starts right here.

See this scar all the way up and down my arm?

I got a metal plate in there

and a bunch of drywall screws holding me together.

I got hit by a car

walking home from high school when I was 17.

And there was no suing anybody back then

but the insurance company went, "Here, have $11,000."

And in 1986 that's like a really big deal.

And as soon as I turned 19

that money was burning a hole in my pocket

and I bought a '71

446-pack,

4-speed, triple black Roadrunner with an air grabber.

And my father hated it.

I ended up selling it.

I've always wanted another one.

I bought a '72, but that wasn't good enough for me.

I had to have just the right car

and, finally, Brian here emailed me

because he saw on my Facebook

pleas asking for anybody who had a '71 Roadrunner out there

and he emailed the Roadkill email address

and sent me a bunch of pictures and here we are.

We're going to drive it home.

The inside is just like the Roadrunner that I had

when I was 19.

- Want to see in the trunk?

(metal creaking)

Sounds like a Mopar, doesn't it?

- Yeah it does.

That sounds exactly like everyone I've ever had.

This thing has an interesting combination of options

in that I've never seen a car actually optioned

with the tough-wheel before.

- Yeah, that was kind of neat

and it's on the original window sticker.

- Right, I know, I read the window sticker which is neat.

- Yeah, which is kind of cool.

- This is a nice car.

- Yeah, I really like it's because, you know-

- The meep-meep horn works.

Henry, you want to show him?

- Yeah, go meep-meep.

Did you know they have this?

(horn honking)

It's like Roadrunner.

- That's awesome.

- And he might have hit a coyote with this.

- I know, I saw that.

- [Brian] Yeah, it's either a dog or coyote.

- [David] Yeah, this is awesome.

- Yeah, it all worked out but-

- [Mike] Here, pay the man.

Let's go get fired up.

- Let's go do donuts.

- Yeah.

- Oh, it has that same 700 pound door I remember.

- [Mike] Yes.

- Okay what's the starting trick?

- A little bit of gas.

(engine turning)

- [David] Oh nice.

- This is a great car for you.

- I know, now I'm excited.

I was stressed out before, now I'm happy.

This is good.

- This is one of those rare moments in life

where I'm genuinely happy

to see Freiburger smiling about a car.

I think he just bought his high school dream car.

You would think the Super Bee is his dream car

but really that's just the car

he's had ever since he was 16.

I don't think he truly loves it.

This car, I think he's in love with

and he's going to buy it and drive it all the way back to LA

from this mountain.

And that's a pretty epic road trip right there.

- This is really good too.

This makes me super excited

cuz my old one had an air grabber.

Okay, I'm thinking cross wise, like this.

- Okay.

- You just want to just go up and over?

(engine humming) (metal loudly vibrating)

Wow, I'm ready to drive 9 hours home.

I know Freiburger is.

I believe we're done here.

- So now I guess we head for home

and hope this thing actually makes it.

He's only driven it about an hour at a time he said

and just locally, so this could be a bit of a mystery.

(jazz-rock music)

Okay, I'm having a problem

and I can't tell if it's the engine surging

or if it's the transmission slipping.

Very strange.

Oh, it's engine for sure.

So this is brilliant.

Finnegan took off.

He was running way ahead of me with the Datsun.

And this thing is surging really badly.

At first I thought the transmission was slipping

but then I realized that the engine is bucking.

See it runs fine at idle and it runs fine in neutral

but cruising down the highway

it's just like constant hesitation.

Oh this sweet.

Check out the, oh, see.

There you go, that's what it did.

I'm going to call fuel filter somewhere, or lack of one.

That is probably it.

The filter is pretty dirty.

So I'm going to cruise til I hit another parts store

and buy a screwdriver and a filter

and keep cruising.

How come the Datsun's more reliable than my Roadrunner?

That's annoying.

(country rock music)

(engine roaring) (metal rattling)

Hey.

- Hey.

- Did you make a 20 mile round trip to visit me?

- [Mike] No, no, 30.

- 30?

- Which means to just get back to where I was is 60 miles.

- Right.

- I'm glad we got some miles under our belt

before it got cold out tonight.

- How come the Datsun's reliable

and thing's already breaking down?

- What happened?

- It surges real bad and it starts when it's warm.

The fuel filter looks really clogged

but the fuel line is also run right between

the water pump and the block

so I'm going to run the fuel line cool

and put a new filter in it.

- Found your problem.

- Or it could be that.

- Yeah.

(laughing)

That's exactly what was wrong with the Ram truck.

Remember when it surged? - That's incredible.

- Look, diagnosed just like that.

I didn't have to come back 30 miles.

- No, it's a good thing you did.

I wouldn't have figured that out.

With the points ignition that's a real thing.

- With any ignition that's a real thing.

(laughing)

So we're staying here tonight, right, and we're drinking?

(laughing)

- Well the fuel filter's still really clogged.

- Might as well work on it.

(laughing)

(engine humming) (metal vibrating)

(country rock music)

- The battery repair, while critical, was not the fix.

I got out there on the highway

and this thing is still just like bucking and surging.

It actually started backfiring.

- The mini truck's starting to look pretty good

right about now.

- I'm pretty sure the fuel filter is clogged

so I'm changing it

but I'm also rerouting the fuel line

because this problem seems to get worse

as the car get hotter.

- It's a nice night to change the filter

and have that not fix the problem.

- I need to arrange something to tie this down

so that it doesn't get in either the fan

or the damper or the belt.

Okay, what's going to happen now

is yesterday I bought this beanie

and I cut this end open so that I could wear it over my head

to protect my face in the Datsun

and now all of this is going to become

life-saving zip tie replacement.

So I'll be using this to tie my new fuel hose

down to the K-member

so that it does not interfere with the fan.

Okay well the string off the hat was good

I have to admit I did pack shoes on this trip

but clearly don't need them

and so then I went and got the shoestring off my sneaker,

which I am now going to use as a zip tie.

All right, I say let's try it.

(thudding)

I hope this junk is fixed.

- It's got to be fixed.

We don't have anymore tools

to fix other things that might be broke.

- Well the test drive lasted about one block

and then it died again so we got out

and just started wiggling every wire that we could

and it turns out that I saw a little spark

coming from the positive side of the coil and that was it.

So we found it was loose.

That'll fix it, right?

- [Mike] Yes.

- Confidence level high.

Of course, it was also on the completely clogged filter

and it was also on the completely loose battery cable.

You know these things all needed to be repaired.

I always say you never really get your old car sorted out

until you take a road trip, so we are.

Okay, let's go.

(rock music)

So that's the story of Finnegan's sort-of dream Datsun

and my complete dream '71 Roadrunner.

There's really a debate at this point

whether we're keeping the Datsun around or not.

It is just so cool.

It has just the right look

but is it good enough that we actually want to fix it?

I know we want to bolt some titanium blocks to the thing

and throw some sparks.

But the '71 Roadrunner, that one's a keeper

and you will see that on future episodes of Roadkill Garage,

but we're going to tune this thing up big time.

But meanwhile, it's tire smoke and throwin' sparks

until next on Roadkill.

- [Announcer] You can find all the parts from these builds

by visitng jegs.com/roadkill.

10 New Cars Coming By 2017 - Duration: 7:47.

One of the most common questions we see around here is, "Should I buy a car now or wait

for the new model just around the corner?"

Car aficionados like to keep track of goings-on in the industry to stay in the know about

new makes and models arriving soon and what type of splash they will make when they hit

dealers.

Here are the 10 models we are most looking forward to seeing that will arrive in calendar-year

2017 or sooner.

From electric cars to pickups and six-figure sports cars, each of our 10 is guaranteed

to shake up its segment.

1.

Acura NSX After what has seemed like an eternity since

its 2012 introduction as a concept vehicle, the brash new Acura NSX is finally upon us

with a release date by the end of 2015 as a 2016 model.

Driving the rear wheels, a turbocharged V-6 and an electric motor sandwiched into the

transmission provide most of the power, while each front wheel gets its own electric motor

for hybrid AWD capability.

Pricing for the NSX will start at around $150,000.

Will it live up to its predecessor's reputation as a true super car that still makes a reliable

and comfortable daily driver?

All signs point to yes.

2.

Apple Car Ok, so this one is just a rumor for now, and

if it does happen it may not be by 2017.

A self-driving Apple car would seriously shake up the entire auto industry if it does pan

out, so it deserves a mention nonetheless.

The Silicon Valley tech giant has recently been poaching well-respected auto executives

from all over the world who are working in secret on a huge car-related project codenamed

Titan.

If Apple does get into the new car business, it will not do so unless it has something

completely revolutionary.

History tells us it is just the type of company to pull that off.

3.

BMW M2 "Bimmerphiles," as BMW brand enthusiasts are

known, will probably tell you that the E30-generation M3 of the 1980s and 1990s was the purest driver's

car the company ever produced.

Today's M3 is much larger and around 1,000 pounds heavier, leaving room for a lighter

and more toss able model just below it.

Enter the 2017 M2, which will be based on the just-released new 2-Series coupe and convertible.

Expected to feature a twin-turbocharged inline-six with around 400 horsepower, this new compact

will closely mimic the ethos that made the E30 such as legend.

Expect it in late 2016.

4.

Lincoln Continental Poor Lincoln just cannot seem to catch a break

these days with flagging sales and a less-than-exciting product lineup.

At the 2015 New York Auto Show, Ford's luxury brand surprised everyone with this stunning

concept car that will preview the company's next full-size flagship.

With hints of classic Lincoln models as well as modern Bentley designs, the concept is

said to closely preview an AWD production luxury sedan that will hit dealers by calendar-year

2017 if not before.

As far as Lincoln is concerned, the sooner the better.

5.

Toyota Supra Ask any Japanese sports car fan their all-time

favorite model and they just might tell you it is the MkIV Supra sports car, which terrorized

roads the world over during the 1990s with its twin-turbocharged inline-six engine that

was commonly boosted to make over 1,000 horsepower.

The next-gen "MkV" Supra has been confirmed, and Toyota is currently working with BMW to

build the car's platform and a new turbo inline-six engine.

The company's FT-1 Concept shown here gives a pretty good preview of the actual car's

design, although the Supra will be slightly smaller and less over-the-top.

This is the model Japanese affordable sports car fans have been waiting for.

6.

Tesla Model S Tesla will release its third electric car,

the Model X crossover SUV, later this year and already has thousands of buyers lined

up with preorders.

We are even more excited about the next car down the line, though: the Model 3 compact

sedan.

Coming by calendar-year 2017, it will be the most affordable car the company has ever created

with a target base price of just $30,000 after any available electric car tax incentives.

The Model 3's driving range is projected to be around 200 miles.

Buyers can expect typical Tesla advanced technology including swappable battery packs and a fully

autonomous self-driving mode that can take the wheel in select situations.

7.

Volvo XC90 Car and tech companies from Acura to Apple

have made waves with reports of upcoming fully autonomous, self-driving cars.

Only Volvo has made concrete plans to put one such vehicle into production, including

obtaining the permission of regulators in its home country of Sweden.

The new self-driving Volvo will be based on the just-released XC90 large SUV, itself a

showpiece for active safety tech that is already available today.

Will Volvo be first out the gate with self-driving cars?

Find out in 2017, when the first autonomous XC90 models are sold to the public.

8.

Ford GT When we first heard the new 2017 Ford GT is

expected to cost up to $350,000 - four times as much as a Chevrolet Corvette Z/06 - we

were quite taken aback.

Never before in its history has Ford charged anywhere close to that for a new model.

The new GT supercar will come powered by an ultra-high-boost twin-turbocharged EcoBoost

V-6 engine with upwards of 600 horsepower.

Its sexy styling sits impossibly low to the ground, and it features a design that is much

more modern that the retro-inspired GT of a few years ago.

Expect it in dealers in 2016.

9.

Chevrolet Bolt The primary factor keeping most of today's

electric cars from catching on is their limited range: models like the Nissan LEAF and Ford

Focus Electric cannot even reach 100 miles before needing a full recharge.

Chevrolet has confirmed production for a new electric, tentatively called the Bolt that

will be able to reach 200 miles while keeping costs down to around $30,000.

The car may go through a name change due to confusion with the unrelated Chevrolet Volt

plug-in hybrid.

In any case, expect it early in calendar-year 2017.

10.

2017 Audi R8 The 2017 R8 has been classified as the "less

exciting Lamborghini" according to some automotive journalist.

With a price tag of over $170,000 this may be one of the more difficult cars to get in

to on this list.

The new V10 engine provided plenty of power and the new electric clutch make shifting

almost un-noticeable.

The R8 is highly anticipated but without much updating of the cars style from previous years

wouldn't you rather get a Lamborghini Huracan, which aside from the body, is almost the exact

same car as the R8.

Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck by Mark Manson - Book Review - Duration: 6:45.

I was driving back up from Dallas to

Wichita after the New Year.

My older brother lives down there.

And on these long drives I really like

listening to audiobooks. And one of the

ones that I listened to on the way up

this time was The Subtle Art of Not

Giving a Fuck by Mark Manson. And the

reason why I wanted to do a video on it

today is because it does a very good job

on offering a different insight into how

you live your life.

Similar to the The Four Agreements book.

This one has a lot of philosophy mixed

in and I wanted to jump in and give

you the three main points that I took

away from this book and show you how you

can implement them to improve your life.

So let's jump into it.

Number one is we're all going to die

soon. Mark talks about in the book, how

when he was a kid he was hanging out

with one of his friends and one of his

friends decided to jump off this cliff.

They were going cliff diving, but his

friend jumped off in the middle of the

night and didn't know how to swim.

He was just super drunk and he decided to

jump off this cliff and he ended up dying

because of it. And Mark internalized that

hard when he realized that we're

all gonna die soon and you can't really

tell when you're going to die. The

average age for male in the United

States is 74 years old. My dad died

when he was 61. I know a lot of people.

My older brother died when he was

mid thirties. So a lot of people

think they're gonna last for a really

long time, but you're not going to last

very long time and this book made me

think about that. We're all

going to die like fairly soon. Even if

you do last till you're 70. That's

only what? If you're 20 right now.

Five more decades. If you're 30, 4

more decades. We're all

gonna die and the main takeaway here

is it doesn't really matter then. Right?

Worst-case scenario - you try something

and you fail at it, but you're

gonna die either way so it doesn't

really matter.

Number two is you can only care about

one or two things so make them the big

things. His point here is people care

about way too much stuff in their lives.

For instance, let's say your

sister is really bad with money and

you're always thinking

about it. 'Oh no. Why is she

getting into so much debt?

How can I help her out?' Mark Manson is

saying that's outside of the realm

of your control so you shouldn't worry

about it. The example he gives in the

book is one of his friend's sister was

getting married and then the

brother, his friend, didn't like the guy that

she was getting married to so he was

like constantly like talking up to the

sister about how that was a bad idea,

talking to the guy about how he

shouldn't be getting married. And his

point, Mark's point in this book was that

it doesn't really matter.

Worst-case scenario or not even worse

case scenario. Let's say the sister gets

married to the guy

the only thing that this guy gets from

worrying about the marriage is now he's

super stressed all the time because he

said all this bad stuff to the boyfriend,

now husband, and his sister doesn't like

him. His sister is mad because

he's been shit talking the marriage the

whole time. The better approach

according to mark and I'm seeing the

light in this as well is just to be

hands-off. Realize that you can only care

about one or two things so the

friend and really all of us should just

care about making ourselves

succeed and in best way we

possibly can and not worry about

whether all your friends are having

kids and you're not or whether you're

getting older or you're losing your hair

or any of the stuff that we worry about.

And then finally number three is if you

only care about the goal and you don't

love the work that means you don't want

the goal. And this was freaking

enlightening for me hardcore. I think

Gary Vaynerchuk said something similar

in one of his videos as well, but Mark

said that he wanted to be a rock star in

college. He really wanted to be

up onstage like John Mayer

with a guitar playing and all the girls

being super into him and then he

realized that although he really wanted

to be a rock star, like you wanted that

life, he didn't want to practice as hard

as he could. He didn't want to trudge

through and do the small shows, he didn't

want to do the marketing. All this

small stuff that eventually becomes rock

star and the takeaway he had based on

that was if

he doesn't love practicing, he doesn't

love going through music theory or doing

all that stuff to get to the final goal

he doesn't actually want that goal it's

actually just a dream for him. So he

stopped wanting to be a rock star at

that point and focus on being an author

and a blogger because he liked blogging. And

that was enlightening for me and it made

me think about all the stuff in life

that I want to be, but I'm not actively

working towards. So for instance one of

the things that I really wanted to do

for a long time was make horror films

like scary movies, but I sat down

two months ago to write a horror movie

script and I got about 10 pages in and

realized that I don't really want to

right horror.

I wasn't enjoying the process so

actually I pivoted the whole script and

now... I did actually finish the movie

script about 92 pages long, but it

switched from a horror movie to

more of a drama, like a dark drama.

I might touch on what that is

in the future video, but I liked writing

that a lot more. So my dream of being

the next Wes Craven or the

next horror movie director

kind of died that day when I realized

I don't actually like writing horror

movies. And it's something for you to

think about as well. In your

business.

Do you like the day-to-day? Are you

a real entrepreneur? For me, I love

this grind. I love sending cold

emails. I love talking to customers on

the phone. I love the feeling of when we

make a sale. I like managing people. I love the

one-on-ones. I like the team that we're

working with. All this stuff is

super enticing. Even more than the

far-off goal of like selling the company

or making X dollars, having X

amount of dollars in the bank.

Just the thrill of making

enough money every month to support

myself for my business is enough for me

to keep me going. And that's the kind of

thing that Mark is talking about in this

book. What in your life are you caring

about that you shouldn't be? Leave that

down in the comments and hopefully we

can all start moving forward together. If
