Waching daily Jan 7 2017

Hello Space Fans and welcome to another edition of Space Fan News.

Those who have been with me from the beginning know that Space Fan News was born six years

ago this week when I wanted to report to you some of the biggest and most exciting astronomical

discoveries that were announced during the winter conference of the American Astronomical Society.

I started six years ago with SFN #1 and now six years later, we are still at it.

So, welcome to AAS Week on Space Fan News!

There was lots of great science that came out of this week's 229th Meeting of the

American Astronomical Society in Grapevine Texas, so much that I can't possible report

on all of it, instead, I'm just going to give you some highlights of some of the biggest

stories that I thought were interesting.

First up, there was a lot of excitement over the pinpointing of the source galaxy of something

called a Fast Radio Burst or FRB.

FRB's are sudden, rapid explosions of energy that have had astronomers scratching their

heads since they were first discovered in 2007.

They typically last only a few milliseconds and no one really knows what they are nor

what is powering them.

They also had no idea what their host galaxies looked like, until now.

The thing about FRB's is that they happen once, very fast, and then that's it, they're

gone.

This means that once they are detected, there's no way to follow up with any other kind of

telescope to get more information on what these things are.

There are only 18 known FRB's and all were discovered using single-dish radio telescopes

that can't narrow down the object's location with enough precision to allow other observations

to identify the host galaxy using visible or infrared telescopes.

But that all changed last year with the discovery of an FRB called FRB 121102, a Fast Radio

Burst that had the courtesy to keep on bursting, numerous times.

That little bit of recurring serendipity allowed astronomers using the Very Large Array in

New Mexico to get a look at it the next time it went off.

Because it has multiple antennas, it can triangulate the position of the FRB more precisely.

In 83 hours of observing time over six months in 2016, the VLA detected nine bursts from

FRB 121102 and allowed them to narrow down the position of the FRB very accurately.

That allowed astronomers using the Gemini North Telescope on Hawai'i to make a visible

light image of the galaxy to see where this thing was coming from.

So the punchline is that the host galaxy for this FRB appears to be a small and humble

dwarf galaxy, which has only about one percent of the mass of our Milky Way galaxy and is

about three billion light years from Earth.

Astronomers were surprised that this Fast Radio Burst came from a dwarf galaxy, they

were expecting it to come from large galaxies because they contain more neutron stars, which

right now are the top candidates to explain what the heck these things are, but since

it came from a small galaxy, now they're really confused.

This dwarf galaxy has fewer stars but it is forming them at a very high rate, which may

suggest that FRB's are linked to younger neutron stars.

Two other classes of extreme events – long duration gamma-ray bursts and superluminous

supernovae – also occur in dwarf galaxies so this discovery may hint at links between

FRBs and those two kinds of events.

FRB's are an exciting new area in astrophysics so astronomers are keen to get more observations

and they want to use surveys that can see the entire area of the sky at once such as

the Dominion Radio Astrophysical Observatory's CHIME Telescope in Canada which will survey

half the sky each day in search of radio transients.

I'll keep you posted.

Next, NASA has selected the next two missions to explore the early solar system.

On Wednesday, NASA said it chose the LUCY and Psyche Mission from five finalists.

LUCY is scheduled to launch in October 2021 and will visit a target-rich environment of

Jupiter's mysterious Trojan asteroids while Psyche will study a unique metal asteroid

that's never been visited before and will launch in October 2023.

Ever notice how October is a great month for launching robotic spacecraft?

Both of these missions are part of NASA's Discovery Program is a class of missions that

are highly targeted, relatively cheap to build and have well-defined science goals.

The New Horizon's mission to Pluto was a discovery-class NASA mission, so they are

quite profitable scientifically and is one way NASA is able to do so much great work

with so little money.

I'll keep you updated on these missions as they get built and milestones are reached,

but I wanted to let you know they were selected this week as NASA's next robotic craft to

study the solar system.

Also announced this week at the AAS meeting was the discovery of an entirely new kind

of galaxy.

Astronomers at the University of Minnesota Duluth and the North Carolina Museum of Natural

Sciences have identified a new class of ring galaxy.

Named PGC 1000714, it features an elliptical core with not one, but two outer rings.

It's the only known galaxy of its kind in the known universe.

Most galaxies in the universe are either disk-shaped spirals or egg-shaped ellipticals and there's

a smattering of other kinds of galaxies too, like lenticular, irregular, dwarf and extremely

low density galaxies known as ultra diffuse objects.

There's another kind too, called a ring galaxy which were discovered in the 1950's

and are very rare, less than 0.1 percent of the galaxies in the universe are ring galaxies.

The most famous is this one, call Hoag's Object after the astronomer who first observed

these, Arthur Hoag.

But PGC 1000714 is different enough from ring galaxies that it deserves its own sub-classification:

it has an elliptical core, like a ring galaxy, but it is surrounded by two discernable and

independent rings.

So if Hoag gets a galaxy type named after it, so does this one: they're calling Burcin's

Galaxy after the lead author of the paper who discovered it, Burcin Mutlu-Pakdil.

It is about 359 million light-years away and

its unusual structure is providing astronomers with unique insights into how galaxies form

and evolve.

And finally, I didn't want to close out this AAS Week episode without an update on

JWST.

We had a hangout scheduled in mid-December with the JWST mission to give us an update

on how things were going when it had to be cancelled because of an unexpected result

from a vibration test that was performed on December third.

On that day, while testing at the Goddard Space Flight Center, unexpected reading appeared

on accelerometers in response to a frequency equivalent to a very low A flat on a piano,

which lead to an immediate halt to the testing.

These vibration tests are done using specific frequencies that have resonances that can

cause damage to equipment during launch, and this damage is very difficult to repair once

in space so NASA wants to identify any weaknesses now, well before launch.

After this happened, the mission team scientists have conducted a variety of visual and ultrasound

tests to see if they could find out what the cause of the anomaly was and they are closing

in on what caused it and NASA has announced this week that they expect to resume the vibration

and shock testing later this month.

When testing picks back up, they will focus on measuring the resonances of both the telescope

and its individual components to assure that it can successfully make it into orbit.

This year promises to be a big one for JWST and thankfully we have rescheduled our hangout

for January 19th and we'll give you a more complete update then, so mark your calendars

to find out about the latest in the mission that will launch the largest space telescope

ever built.

Well that's it for this week Space Fans, thanks to all SFN Patreon Patrons who've

made 2016 a great year and I'm looking forward to making more great episodes in 2017.

Thanks to all of you for watching and as always, Keep Looking Up!

I can't come when I'm a top. Why? - Duration: 3:56.

what's up feel good family welcome to

Friday as freaky friday edition of the

daily dose call freaky friday because we

usually talk about a little sex on

Friday keep us going through the weekend

and today's daily dose question is is

like perfect for freaky friday this is

more for the gay men in the audience but

you know everybody could probably learn

from this

James I can't come when i'm topping what

gives

for those who may not know or not gay

and not understand this

that's jack by the way say hi Jack

topping is being the insert of partner

when it comes to anal sex

so in the gay community we talk about

your Top you're the insertive partner if

you're a bottom here the receptive

partner i won't go into why I don't like

either of those words but i probably

will use them throughout this video more

conversation with this individual you

know he talked about how he doesn't

really have a problem reaching orgasm

when his bottoming he also doesn't have

a problem reaching orgasm by himself but

when he is the insertive partner or the

top in sex recently he just has not

been able to orgasm three things are

probably at play here one or all three

number one let's make sure there's not a

medical issue you know high blood

pressure heart disease high cholesterol

diabetes obesity give or take can

actually be causes of what we call

delayed orgasm or not being able to

reach orgasm you might be able to get

your dick hard you might be able to

actually like have penetrated

intercourse but then you never orgasm if

you have any of those things you're not

on your medications or even you think

maybe one of your medications might also

be causing this because high blood

pressure medications can cause this I

definitely see your provider get checked

up for that the other two are much more

a psychological thing and I think that's

probably what's really going on here

this just might not be the type of sex

that you like to have you just might

prefer to be the receptive partner

you might also just prefer like wild

crazy kinky sex like maybe you need a

harness on and someone to like throw you

around the room

where you want to be tied up or whatever

like that's what gets your goat but if

you're just sort of having like semi

missionary style like lights off quiet

music with a candle and like whatever

like maybe that's not your your your gig

and you're never going to orgasm that

way because it's not the kind of sex you

have the third one is a little deeper

particularly with new sex partners we

all have a little bit of hang-ups right

is my body look okay like is my dick big

enough like do I smell

do I smell enough like what does he like

what do I like so if all that is going

on with the new sex partner it can

really get in your brain

plus you might have some like long-term

deep-seeded guilt about sex in general

guilt about gay sex guilt about like

even if this is sort of like a one-night

stand that got problem promiscuous kind

of sex thing you might have some guilt

about that stuff that maybe you just

need to like work through when something

like delayed orgasm happens it's most

often a psychological thing

dig in a little bit and be like am i

comfortable in my body around this guy

the number one thing the most important

thing is to talk to your partner about

this like hey you know what I'm not work

as being like this is an issue i like

being the insertive partner with you I

like being the top but like can we talk

about this or like maybe I want you to

top me like maybe we need to like switch

it up a little bit not during sex but

like have them over have a glass of wine

and be like hey this is going on

once you just are real and acknowledge

it it'll open up so many doors you guys

can talk about everything and probably

all those mental hang-ups you have she

will go out the window there is your

daily dose feel good family

I don't you all have a fantastic weekend

if you're new to ask the NP please hit

that subscribe button if you like what

we do here if you like this video hit

the like button share with friends and

family i hope you all have a fantastic

weekend and I will see you on Monday

Long Term Care Planning | Surprenant & Beneski, P C | New Bedford MA - Duration: 1:58.

Why is it important to plan ahead for long term care?

You get the best result if you plan ahead.

Medicaid, in Massachusetts called MassHealth, has a five year look-back period; when you

apply for Medicaid or MassHealth to pay for your nursing home care, they get to look back

five years over your bank records and your tax filings and the Registry of Deeds filings

to see if you've made any gift and they will penalize you for those gifts.

In other words, give you a period of time where they won't pay for your stay; bigger

the gift, bigger the penalty.

People sometimes don't know about that and can get caught up in those penalties.

So planning ahead helps.

First of all, see a qualified elder law attorney who knows the rules and they can lay out a

plan for you; generally takes five years or more, but you may transfer assets, for instance,

to an irrevocable trust if drafted properly under the rules in the case law that can protect

a home or assets and there may be other transfers; prepaying a funeral, lots of different things

that can be done, but maybe need some time to setup.

Plan ahead and then check on your plan; I would say about every three years check to

make sure your plan doesn't need to be updated because of a rule change or change in your

life or your children's life.

Getting started early generally gives us the best result.

What SURPRISED YOU when you came to TOKYO?! Ask Japanese what shocked them in the capital. - Duration: 8:06.

The escalators are different.

The Crepé here is so tasty.

- Nobody will be there. You will be lost. - Oh no!

If people were surprised about that, it would make me happy.

Hey guys and girls on Ask Japanese this is Cathy Cat and today

I'll go and ask the Japanese people here what surprised them

when they came the first time to Tokyo.

Also what they think foreigners will be surprised about when they come

to Tokyo for the first time as well. Let's go and Ask Japanese.

The train station escalators are different.

Which side you are supposed to stand, and which side to walk is

the right opposite!

On the left side you are supposed to stand and let the escalator take you.

The right side is where you are allowed to walk up the escalators.

However, in Kyoto and Nara it's the right opposite.

You stand on the right and you walk on the left.

First time I came, I stood on the wrong side, and people wanted to get past.

That's when I realized I was wrong.

So even in the same country, where you stand and walk is different.

Things like that are a bit different.

There are so many people in Tokyo. I keep bumping into people.

Everyone walks so fast!

It's a bit scary.

What is the place that was the most crowded?

Takeshita street.

In Ibaraki it doesn't get that crowded.

I bumped into a strange person. That was bad.

There are so many weird people in Tokyo.

- Rather than scary people we have... - Old men wearing sailor school uniforms.

And people here get crazy on Halloween.

For example?

Going to Shibuya and getting wild.

And when soccer matches are on.

On Sunday I went to a concert by the group ARASHI.

They said people are more hyped up in Tokyo.

How many people there are and how often trains go...

That's really different compared to Gunma.

We only have one train every hour. So that's really different.

We don't need to wait for trains in Tokyo.

What do you mean?

Where I live, if I miss a train I need to wait 15-30 minutes for the next one.

But if you miss one in Tokyo, you get another one 2 minutes later.

It's nice not having to wait.

The buildings are so much taller here compared to where I am from.

For example, we went to the big Shibuya Hikarie.

I went to the imperial palace and it was so beautiful.

In Osaka we have many flashy commercial billboards.

It's a bit messy but Tokyo is really pretty in comparison.

There is not much green and all buildings are so tall.

There are so many cute things here.

And also so many tasty things.

Like the large colorful cotton candy they sell over there.

The Crepé here is tasty!

What do you recommend? - Chocolate banana.

Would have to be that one.

- Are Crepes not tasty where you're from? - Those taste so bad!

I am from Kyoto. At our primary schools, if you open the tab, tea will come out.

Wow that's amazing.

?

There is a cup and one tab reads "tea" and the other reads "water".

And real tea flows out.

And you can drink it as usual.

This is only in the south of Kyoto, apparently.

In my prefecture, we have those tea tabs.

And in summer, when you run out of drinks in your flask, you refill it there.

Take it to your classroom and drink it there.

There are also cups there, so you can just drink it there too.

- So even you from Fukuoka are suprised? - Yeah I am...

I heard that in Ehime, which is famous for mandarin oranges

the tabs dispense mandarin orange juice.

That's what I heard.

We have so many cute things in Japan.

We are going to a beauty college.

One of our subjects was to tell people about what's cute in Japan.

?

Those clothes on the picture are all handmade fashion items.

They were those clothes and in 30 minutes people design the makeup.

It was a contest in order to find the Tokyo Kawaii Ambassador.

And the winner will go to China or Vietnam to spread the culture.

It's a contest that we did.

Where we are from there is nothing. It's super countryside.

You will be surprised in contrast by how much nature we have

in Ibaraki.

We have many fields that you can walk down.

But I think that that will surprise people.

You would be surprised how few people there are.

So the other way around.

So few people... If you get lost and want to ask for the way...

- Nobody will be there. You will be lost. - Oh no!

- I will be totally lost. - You will be.

At night, it won't be bright like it is here.

Pitch black!

There aren't many buildings so walking at night will be scary.

You say you have nature, are there any rare animals?

We have some raccoons who cross the road sometimes.

We have signs that warn us of the raccoons.

We sometimes have monkeys. Sometimes.

I saw them a long time ago around my house.

And got told to be careful.

How about our 100yen One Coin Shop?

Abroad you won't get the same quality items for 100Yen.

I once had an exchange student over and took her to a 100yen shop.

She was so happy and really enjoyed shopping there.

That made me think foreigners will enjoy the 100 Yen shops.

True. They are amazing.

What did she buy? Do you remember?

She bought lots of character goods like Hello Kitty and such to take home.

People are friendly here.

Things are cheap. Like clothes and such.

Stationaries.

In the ocean in Hiroshima there is a large shine gate in the water.

Be sure to visit it.

- That gate is quite moving? - It is.

I am from Hogoken in the Himeji area.

There is the Himeji castle.

Then we have buildings with roof tiles and such.

That's a really Japanese experience, I hope foreigners will like it.

There are not really hot springs abroad so...

Relaxing like that might be new.

People in Kansai are very strong minded. The way they talk too.

People here walk so fast too.

Udon noodles. I am from the Kagawa prefecture.

You will be surprised how tasty our UDON is!

With that we had all questions. Thank you.

PEOPLE! TRAINS! Those were the things people were surprised

when they came to Tokyo. Don't forget not everywhere in Japan

looks like Tokyo even though we get the most features abroad about Tokyo.

Quite a lot of things happening in this town, so many people and...

the best example is probably Shibuya crossing you might have seen it

in the movies, where so many people cross at the same time.

The first couple of times I went to Shibuya and saw that crossing I felt...

nauseous. I felt dizzy because there was just so many people and

so many things to take in at the same time.

How about you? What surprised you when you came to Tokyo?

What do you think other people will be surprised about when they come

to YOUR country?

I am curious about reading your answers for that one.

Thank you very much for watching. There will be links in the bottom

Catch you soon on Ask Japanese! Bye!

Don't forget I have my own channel too. Visit me there, would be nice to see you!
