If you registered with NSW Fair Trading
to have your property tested for loose-fill asbestos insulation,
you will be contacted to arrange a time for the inspection.
On the day of the testing,
the assessor will identify themselves as a licensed asbestos assessor
by showing you their licence.
The first thing the assessor must do is switch off the power.
This is an important safety measure,
so you should be prepared.
The power supply could be off for up to 45 minutes.
As a safety precaution, doors and windows near the testing area
should be closed during the inspection.
Pets and other family members
should also be kept away from the testing area.
The assessor may need to move furniture
or other items away from the manhole.
They may cover things with a plastic sheet to protect against dust.
This includes covering the floor.
They will wear protective clothing and a mask during the inspection.
Most homes will have manhole access to the roof.
If you do not have a manhole,
a specialist roofing contractor may be needed to gain access.
The inspection involves taking samples of insulation material
from your roof space
and some photos.
Sampling will only take
around 10 to 15 minutes.
Samples are carefully placed into sealed bags.
They will be sent to a laboratory for testing.
The assessor will then remove the plastic coverings
and replace your furnishings if items have been moved.
The assessor will tell you when they are finished
and will turn on the power.
Most inspections can be completed in 30 to 45 minutes.
The assessor will explain the process for testing
and reporting the results back to you.
The samples from your roof will be tested at an accredited laboratory.
The results will be written as a report.
As soon as your report is finalised,
you will be notified by mail or email of your result.

How To Get Into Your Own Home Faster Near Sydney - Duration: 4:13.- Hi, I'm Ozkan.
23 years of age, live in this beautiful area.
Just bought my first property,
so I'm really, really excited.
Got myself a fantastic deal for a brand new
house in an area like this for under
$600,000, believe it or not.
So, basically, properties here in The Ponds
are currently going for around $800,000, $900,000
some over even a million, for, say,
four bedroom, two bathroom,
two garage sort of layouts.
But basically, this is same sort
of layout as what Fletcher looks like, which is fantastic.
Family lifestyle, you've got parks,
you've got some water, you've got people
living here that are just everyday people,
just wanna be happy.
And what I'm able to do, purchase a block
of land for, say, $265,000 and build a brand new
double-story house for, say, $280,000 or
$325,000. So you're basically looking
at getting in there for, say, under $600,000
compared to an $800,000 house that you see
around here with the same sort of lifestyle.
I used to believe that there was
a lot of challenges in property.
Looking at it from the outside,
it wasn't my number one priority at the time.
Then I started meeting the people
at Binvested and they really helped me
to realise that it's so simple
to be able to purchase a property.
I basically got the fundamentals
down pat in 15, 20 minutes at worst
to realise that it is possible.
I can do it with simple sort of rules.
Definitely lower than what I expected.
I thought, back when my parents
were purchasing properties, or looking
into it, at least, they were saying
we need 20, 30, 40 percent deposits
before they actually of into it,
because I had this mindset saying that debt was bad.
I got into it with $42,000. Covered off
all my fees, covered off my deposit.
No stamp duty as well, which is saving
me 20-odd thousand on its own.
Basically, once I sell it, I'm looking
at profits of, or potential earnings
of, say, about $100,000 $50,000 $60,000 or $80,000, and
use that towards my next deposit for my next house.
My mindset was basically all about
having fun now, not worrying about the future.
I used to play games on computers,
PlayStation, Xbox, you name it,
I was all over it.
I've got my sports car at the moment,
which is a '99 Nissan Skyline R34,
for people out there that know that.
So, a lot of my money went into that,
and my hours, my sweat, and that
was my pride and joy, and I realised that,
by spending all my money on something like this,
it wasn't getting me anywhere.
The car was looking great, but my life
didn't change in any way.
So, I had to get out of that mindset and say,
"What am I doing with my future?"
"Is this benefiting me later on?"
So I said, "You know what?
"People are making money off property,
Why can't I go into property?"
If I'm gonna sell my car now,
I'll buy a better one five,
six years down the track,
and I'll buy it outright with cash.
Yeah, I might wake up an hour early,
but that's a small sacrifice for a big reward.
It's a first property.
I'm planning on building a portfolio of two, three,
four, five over the next couple of years.
So, it's a small hardship, but every
hardship ends up with a good reward.
Look, Buyer's Agencies have experience.
They've been doing it for years.
They have knowledge that I would have never looked into.
They do research on a daily basis,
and being current investors themselves,
they know what's out there and
they know where a good bargain is
and where a good deal is and where
you're potentially gonna get to your next stage.
Everyone's different, everyone's
got different sort of motives,
but the one thing that I can share with everyone is,
when you've got an opportunity
in front of you, just take it.
Don't think about it, don't sweat on it.
When someone that you know has more
experience than what you do,
trust their instincts.
That's one thing I can say.
We've got people backing us up
with 200 properties, you've got 100
properties, you've got 50 properties.
These people know what they're doing.
Take the advice, move forward.
Stop staying in the same spot.
For me to buy a block of land
in an estate like this, I was like,
"Wow, as if I wouldn't take that."
Yeah, just wanted to share my moments
with you and my excitement, and it's possible.
We can all do it together.
