Employees Combat Sitting Disease by Getting Fit From Their Desks - Duration: 3:12.No, it's not the gym. Thank you for calling PG&E. My name is
Jessica. I'm in San Jose. May I help you transfer service? It's
actually business as usual at the PG&E Contact Center in San
Jose. It's called Fit From Your Desk, an innovative program PG&E
launched to help employees who have to sit for a long period of
time.
We're not technically at the gym pumping iron or anything
like that, but it's a nice, small workout where you can move
around and be more flexible. Why? According to the American
Medical Association, sitting for long periods of time has been
linked to an increased risk of musculoskeletal injuries, heart
attack, stroke, diabetes, obesity and much more. Just ask
Nash Alhomady, a PG&E Solar customer service representative,
who says PG&E's Fit From Your Desk program boosted his
activity levels both in and outside the office. I was very
stiff; best to describe lethargic. I didn't really have
a whole lot of energy and, so, when I would get home, I was
already tired and just wanted to relax go to sleep. But now, I
feel more energized. I can go out and do more things because
I've actually been following the program. And Nash is not alone.
I feel like the Fit From Your Desk allows me to keep my blood
flowing. So at the end of the day I don't feel like I've been
sitting in a chair all day because I've had opportunities
to stand up and stretch. Safety Specialist Erika Urrabazo helped
launch the program in San Jose. She said the contact center saw
an 80 percent reduction of workers' comp musculoskeletal
injuries-such as sprains and strains-in 2016.
We've gotten a lot of positive feedback,
and that makes me happy that
individuals feel more comfortable making that decision
to use Fit From Your Desk instead of being embarrassed or
shying away from it. The program uses a combination of Sit &
Stand desks, Thera-Bands, a booklet showing exercises,
stretches and creative, team-building activities ideas
like Power Hour, where employees stand and stretch together at
the sound of a bell. We would be able to all kind of jump in. If
you didn't want to you didn't have to. You could still kind of
sit out. But the idea is now that everyone is involved you
wouldn't have to feel uncomfortable about it. You can
actually try it out see how it felt for you. Besides the added
health benefits, employees say the program actually helps them
deliver better customer service. When you feel good, you're
happy. And everyone knows that you are happy. And they can't
see us, but they can hear us. So when we feel good, they can hear
that smile. I'm feeling more energized, more optimistic, more
positive, you know, because I feel like I can do more. It kind
of carries over in my tone; so customers can hear it and they
respond to it. I feel really proud to work here. I feel
really proud to work for PG&E. We've had a lot of employees
that share that with us too-that they have never known a company
to care that much about their ergonomics and the fact that
they are stretching while they at their desk throughout the
day.
For Currents I'm Angela Lombardi.

Braid hairstyles - faux 6 strand braid - Duration: 6:34.Hi guys!
We all know there are so many beautiful braid hairstyles
out there. But some can be pretty hard to master,
because they're quite advanced.
So, today I'm going to show you how to make this
beautiful 6 strand braid. BUT it's actually a faux 6
strand braid. Which means it looks just as intricate, it
looks like a 6 strand braid, but it's a lot easier to do!
[laughs]
So let's get right to it!
Begin by putting your hair into a ponytail.
[music]
Grab a small strand of hair from the top of your ponytail
and clip it out of the way.
[music]
Now divide your ponytail into two equal sections.
We're gonna start with the right section, so tie the left
section and put it over your shoulder so it doesn't get in
the way either.
Divide the right section into three equal strands and
braid it into a regular braid.
So that's right strand over middle strand, which means
the right strand becomes the middle strand.
And then left strand over middle strand, which means
the left strand becomes the middle strand.
Repeat these steps until you've braided the entire
section. Then secure with a hair elastic.
Now onto the left section. Take it out of the elastic and
braid it in the same way you braided the right section.
[music]
You now have two braids. Grab the small strand of hair
that was clipped away.
Pull the top left part of the right braid - the first V shape -
open, put your fingers through the opening and pull the
strand through.
Now pull the strand to the left, pull the top right part of
the left braid - also the first V shape - open, put your
fingers through the opening and pull the strand through.
Now pull the second V shape of the right braid open, put
your fingers through the opening and pull the strand
through.
Now pull the strand to the left, pull the second V shape
open, put your fingers through the opening and pull the
strand through.
Keep repeating these steps and go one V shape lower
each time. It's okay if you miss one, you won't be able to
see that.
[music]
You'll notice that you'll run out of hair before you reach
the end of the braids. That's normal.
It's the only drawback of the faux technique, as you can't
braid all the way down. But I still really love it.
Tie it all together with a hair elastic and take out the
bottom parts of the braids.
That's it! Wasn't that SUPER easy?
And look how pretty it is!
[music]
I hope you guys enjoyed this tutorial on how to do a
6 strand braid the EASY way! If you liked it, please give
the video a THUMBS UP and SUBSCRIBE for more!
Thank you for watching! Byeee!
