Konnichiwa watashi wa Alexandra desu.
and today we are going to be learning how to introduce ourselves in Japanese.
Konnichiwa watashi wa Alexandra desu. Hajimemashite. Yoroshiku onegaishimasu.
So, basically I just said hello, I'm Alexandra and it's nice to meet you (nice to meet you.)
We'll get there in a second, ok let's start at the beginning.
Konnichiwa! That means hello
so Konnichiwa, watashi wa Alexandra desu.
after we have the hello (Konnichiwa) we say watashi wa Alexandra desu. Say whoever you are.
You're probably not me so you're gonna want to put your own name here.
The reason I'm saying it a little bit weird is because I'm saying my name in Katakana
and you're gonna want to learn to say your own name in Katakana so it doesn't sound like this.
Konnichiwa watashi wa "ALEXANDRA" desu.
So go figure out your name in Katakana so you can pronounce it correctly.
After you've said hello and what your name is you're going to want to say a nice to meet you.
Hajimemashita. Which is used in place of the English nice to meet you.
but it actually means something closer to please start a friendship with me.
it's what you say the first time you meet somebody. That phrase is usually followed by
Yoroshiku onegaishimasu.
which is roughly translated to nice to meet you, again. But for that one there really is no English equivalent.
So the phrase you say upon meeting someone for the first time is Yoroshiku onegaishimasu.
That's pretty formal so you could always just say Hajimemashite Alexandra desu. That's a little bit shorter.
and its a little bit more casual to introduce yourself
ok so one more time from the top. Konnichiwa!
watashi wa Alexandra desu. Hajimemashite. Yoroshiku onegaishimasu.
I hope you guys enjoyed this video and
I hope you learned how to introduce yourself in Japanese
Have a rad day, stay comfy!
