Greek lesson: Learn how to use the words ''τροφή'' and ''φαγητό'' - Duration: 4:20.

Hello dear students. Today we will answer the question of our student Jason,

on the use of the words ''τροφή'' and ''φαγητό''.

The word ''τροφή'', is more general than the word ''φαγητό''.

''Τροφή'' is any substance that a human or an animal receives from the mouth

to be able to survive and may be liquid or solid.

For example, "Ο άνθρωπος έχει ανάγκη από καθημερινή τροφή,

για να έχει τη δύναμη να κάνει όλες τις δραστηριότητες της ημέρας "or" Έβαλα τροφή στον σκύλο, αλλά δεν την έφαγε".

In addition to the literal meaning, the word ''τροφή'' can also be used metaphorically.

So, we will say: "Κάνε και κάτι μόνος σου, μη ζητάς όλο μασημένη τροφή".

That is, we advise someone to take the initiative and do something on his own,

without always asking for help from others or wanting everything ready.

In this case, the phrase "μασημένη τροφή" is used metaphorically and means the help given to someone else.

We can also say: "Τα βιβλία είναι τροφή του πνεύματος."

Here, we refer to the great value that books have on the human spirit

and what they can offer.

They have the same importance as food for the body.

As ''τροφή'', it nourishes the body, so the books nourish the mind.

Also, a phrase we often hear is: "Η συμπεριφορά του, δίνει τροφή για σχόλια."

That is, he does not behave very well, so he gives

the opportunity for others to comment on it negatively.

Now, the word food refers to any food eaten properly prepared.

It is more specific its meaning. That's why we can say:

"Το φαγητό που έφαγα ήταν βαρύ και δεν μπόρεσα να κοιμηθώ το βράδυ"

or "Το φαγητό ήταν πολύ νόστιμο, που έβαλα δύο πιάτα"

or "Το φαγητό ήταν εντελώς ανάλατο, αλλά δεν είπα τίποτα για να μην την στεναχωρήσω."

We are talking about something more specific about something that has been prepared and warmed up to eat.

In addition, we can invite a friend to eat, so we'll say:

"Πάμε για φαγητό απόψε; Ξέρω ένα πολύ καλό ελληνικό εστιατόριο με καταπληκτικούς μεζέδες"

Finally, we can say: "Μετά το φαγητό, χρειάζομαι μια ώρα ξεκούραση, προτού ξεκινήσω και πάλι δουλειά"

and "Τους πέτυχα πάνω στο φαγητό και μου είπαν να κοπιάσω"

I visited them at the time they were eating and they invited me to eat with them.

Cleaning Walls and Ceilings Using a Flat Mop - Quick & Easy - Duration: 4:14.

Hi.

I'm Lisa from Active Domestics and you may notice, if you've seen any of my other videos

that we have started sanding this bathroom back.

So these were all green.

All the window sills and door-frames and anyway we've over the course of about the last 3 weekends

we have spent time sanding it back.

Bit by Bit cause it was all quite thick.

Anyway, so after each of those sanding sessions I had to clean things up.

I had to take everything out of the linen closet and anyway it's all been a bit of a

mad-house in here.

I also actually had to sand the walls.

You can see back here where there was a bit of flakey paint and I had to sand the walls

and I actually also sanded a bit of the ceiling.

I had this contraption here where you put the little sander on the painting pole thing--

the extension pole.

I could then really get up there and do the sanding.

Well, much the same way, I'm now also going to do the cleaning.

I've got another extension pole here with the flat microfiber mop.

This one's a Sabco one and it's ...this is the wet head for it.

Now what I do...

I've got a bucket down here in the bath, which you can't see and that's got half a cup Sugar

Soap concentrate and warm water in it.

I just basically make sure that that's wet, which it is.

Actually I'll just put this up here like this and then when you've finished (or wet, down

in the bucket) and you've got it wet, squeeze out the edges and wipe off any excess like

that.

And basically start cleaning.

So you can see here, it allows me to really get into places like this and you can just

go over it and over it but it also allows you to get into the bits (oops, a bit too

much water there) It allows you to get into those bits in the corners and little edges

there and you can also (where it's got that bit of a curve bit in there).

But the other great thing about these is that you can actually clean the ceilings with them

as well.

So you can see here you just do it bit by bit.

So you go section by section until you get it done.

It's actually pretty quick once you get into it, like I'll show you over here on the walls,

how quick that is to get these bits and you know you can really get into the corners quite

well like that.

So, I'm going to keep going and as you can see you can get the job done pretty quick

because you've got a large surface area here.

You're not just using a cloth, the size of your hand-width.

You're actually using a large surface area so it really does make the job a lot easier

than it otherwise would be.
