Hi! I'm Darren Rose from Genelec

And today I'm in Finnvox Studios to talk to you about...

How to choose a loudspeaker from our wide range of professional loudspeakers

Now the choice is going to depend on various things...

The size of your room, your listening distance...

The material you're listening to - how low you want to go, things like that

It's natural to think that a small loudspeaker fits small rooms...

And a large loudspeaker fits large rooms

Sometimes that's true and sometimes it's not

For example a larger loudspeaker has a larger waveguide...

Which means it can put much more direct sound to your listening position...

With fewer reflections from the walls

This can be really useful in a small room where you're getting a lot of the reflected sound

On the other hand, a larger loudspeaker like this plays so low

That in a small room it can be problematic in low frequences with the modal behaviour of the room

Then there's the choice between the classic analogue series, the SAM series and the coaxial SAM Series

On our website you can find the Loudspeaker Selection Tool

I'm Darren Rose, I see you in the next episode

What Is The Best Spring Carp Fishing Bait Approach In Your Opinion? - Duration: 3:12.

For my Spring fishing, it's a little bit difficult to know how much bait to put

in. What I've found over the last few years is this time of the year, putting in a lot

of bait in the Spring can work really well you know and it has done for me in

the past. But sometimes I think maybe not fishing exactly over that bait can be the

one. So if you can get down to the lake a couple of days before, put a bit of

bait in you know, leave it a couple of days you know, this this can't work for

everyone obviously people can't always get down to the lake, some lakes you're

not even allowed to bait up, but if you can get down a couple of days before the

session and put some bait in, maybe a kilo, maybe the two kilo you know, the

fish, the birds are going to dive on it. But you want the birds diving on

it. I'm sure that the carp see the birds diving on it and it does create some

disturbance and it will encourage the fish to feed on bait and then what I

would do, this is my perfect way of fishing in the spring, two or three kilos,

leave it for two or three days, no lines in the water. Go back down there

and just fish hookbaits. This has caught me loads and loads of fish in the past. I

have to say at certain lakes and certain times of the year,

baiting heavy in the Spring can be brilliant. If the fish are hungry and

they really want to feed then it can be brilliant. But also when the hatches are

coming up, the fly hatches, and there's a lot of natural foods around in the

Spring all coming off the bottom, then it can go against you and just single hookbaits

can be the way forward. So I would play around at this time of the year

by maybe fishing one rod on a single you know to one part of the lake, one rod

with a kilo over the top, one rod with maybe just 50 baits over the top. And

then just start to feel your way around the lake and just to see which one

starts to work. But I'd always still put a bit of bait in when you go home or not

too much, a kilo, two kilos, you've got to start

introducing it. You've got to start letting them see it on the bottom, let the

birds dive on it you know, let them have a, let them see it on the bottom, let them

move around it, and it's going to encourage them. Also what you do find

this time of year is one day there'll be a lot of natural food, the next day there

might not and in the following day there might be a lot. This is what I found at

a lake that I fished over the last four or five years. It fluctuates. One day

you'll be catching over three or four kilos and in the next session it'll be a

hookbait. So you really do have to play around with what you're

doing. The good thing is we're all using two or three rods so we've all got a good

chance. Once you suss it out, then start plugging

away at maybe singles, maybe fishing over a kilo

and you know that, that's the beauty of having two or three rods, you can really

start playing around with techniques and you can fine-tune stuff.

Local authorities for 10 years now I guess have suffered with resourcing

problems and finance problems. The last thing they wanted was more load being

put on them. And it was very difficult in those circumstances for somebody like me

who's a a change person, a change merchant, an improvement

person, to put across the argument that actually in the end you get payback

from those things. You get the improvement in performance which long

term (it isn't short term unfortunately) but long term gives you good payback in

terms of service delivery with better use of resource and so forth. So yes, absolutely

yes.

Wallace's Favorite Reads Books Part Two - Duration: 5:03.

Wallace here with your Monday video. Today I'm telling you about some of my

favorite books. And these are like favorites of all time. So these last two

books are my like top tier favorites, top tier. Like life-changing favorites,

I guess I should say. Not top tier. They're my life-changing favorites.

Just kids was life-changing for me when I finally read it. I have a first signed

edition of this book, by the way. Don't come rob me for it. But I do. I used to

belong to the KCRW, which is LA's branch of NPR, book club, which I really

should start belonging to again. And they would send you a book every month and I

got this one. And when I first got it I was like, Oh, who cares about Patti Smith? Like

I just don't care enough about her. But I kept it because it was signed. I keep all

my signed books. And then I would say 2 or 3 years later I picked it up and I

started reading it and I was like, floored, done. I'm obsessed. Obsessed. I started, I

go-- went down lots of different rabbit holes reading about different things

that she talked about in this book. I listen to a bunch of Patti Smith music.

I was so inspired by her and her life and like how brave she was in her younger

years and just going for it in New York City and making her art and not being

afraid and meeting all of these really amazing cool people. Who, by the way, when

you're meeting all these amazing cool people when you're younger, no matter

where you are, but in particular if you're like in a bigger, more artsy city

like New York or LA, um you don't know that those people are gonna then go on

and be who they're gonna be. So if you're young, pay attention to who you're

meeting if you are, if you are artistic and in artistic circles. um That just

reminded me to do so when I was reading this. But also, I mean, I have so many

things underlined and tagged and just like I loved her. And I thought her writing

was amazing and it put me like right there with them and the story was

beautiful and I really, really recommend this. Even if you don't even know who

Patti Smith is or Robert Mapplethorpe is, don't worry. You're still gonna like this

book cause it doesn't really matter. You don't have to like them ahead of time.

I wasn't super into either one of them beforehand. I knew who they were but

I wasn't like I am about Nora Ephron. Like I wouldn't pick up any book about

her to read about her. That wasn't the case. So you really don't have to be

super into them ahead of time to read it and to really enjoy it.

um But you probably would want to be interested in this time period, like the

1970s New York scene, you know. Anyway this one, I loved it. And then here's

another Joan Didion. And I'm sorry I'm adding her twice but this is my favorite

book. Like this kind of, this is a kind of book like if I talked about it too much

I would cry. Which, you know, these days isn't such a shocker cause I'm a crier now

that I have a kid for some reason. I'm hoping that will go away. So this is as

close to a memoir as you'll get. This and blue nights.

And I do like blue nights also, but I was trying to pair it, I mean, I could've just

had the whole thing be Joan Didion. um Are really, somewhat, their memoirs and

she writes so beautifully in this. And if you've ever lost, and I'm talking death

I'm talking divorce, I'm talking breakup,  like terrible breakup, this book is so

cathartic. And this book is she says things that maybe you haven't been able

to articulate and will help you articulate some of the feelings that you

have. And it's, it can be I guess a hard, a hard one to read maybe if you really

really are just uncomfortable reading about people going through any kind of

pain or grief. um But if that's not too scary for you then I think you're

actually gonna find this book beautiful. It's a celebration of life and

living and noticing what you have and who you're with and who you're building

your life with. Not just a romantic partner, just like your children, your

family, your friends. The people who surround you. The people who are gonna be

there for you and the hard times and the people who get to have the fun times

with somewhere in the middle, you know. So this book is absolutely beautiful and

was definitely a life raft for me. Anybody going through any sort of hard

time, I highly recommend this to them, oh, like always. And also if you'd like to

get to know, if you are a fan of Joan Didion already, this and blue nights are

things you should read because it'll really give you an insight

into her life. So those are my favorites. If you have any questions about them you

can post them below. I will try my hardest to remember to come back and

answer questions. You can also find me on instagram @bookitlikeamother and i

can answer questions about them there because i actually just posted a picture

of all these books there. So you could actually ask me any questions on

that post and I can answer them there as well. And I will see you guys next Monday.

Until then, happy reading.

How Can You Be Absolutely Certain That You've Been Born Again? - Duration: 8:53.

How can you be absolutely certain that you've been born again?

Hi.

Welcome to today's Little Lesson, and today's question is one that we often hear that expresses

some degree of concern over the authenticity of one's salvation.

We know that salvation is not something that you gradually earn by building up merit over

years of doing good things and obeying the commandments of God, but rather, salvation

happens because of God's grace and his mercy, and so therefore, it's a instantaneous ... It's

a one moment event where you cry out to God for forgiveness of sins, and you turn to him

in faith and repentance, and he forgives you.

Scripture teaches that he sends his Holy Spirit, and places his Holy Spirit in you, and you're

born again.

You're changed.

You're a new creation in Christ.

How can you tell if that's really happened to you?

Because we know that scripture also warns that it's possible to deceive ourselves in

this manner, and that there are people who profess to know God, but yet they deny him

by their deeds.

That was a warning straight from the New Testament, and there are many warnings in the New Testament

along these lines of being self-deceived about your status with God.

Well, fortunately and blessedly, there's a book in the New Testament that's written primarily

to answer this very question, because it's one that Christians have always had.

What could be more important than salvation, and then, therefore, what could be more important

than being certain that you actually are one of the children of God, that you have been

saved, that he has forgiven you of your sins, that you are born again?

That book which I'm referring to, of course, is the New Testament Epistle of 1 John where

John repeatedly makes a reference to three tests whereby we can ascertain if we are true

believers or just fooling ourselves, if we truly been born again or we're just mixed

up on this matter and have a real misunderstanding of our actual spiritual status.

Those tests, there are actually three of them that John lists.

There's a theological one, there's a social one, and there's a moral one.

The theological one is I guess the easiest one to take a look at.

Let me read to you from very close to the end of John's First Epistle, 1 John, chapter

five and verse number 13.

John said, "These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the son of

God so that you may know that you have eternal life."

Actually that's really a summarizing statement of the entire epistle that John wrote.

These things, I wrote this epistle so that you who believe in the name of the son of

God know that you have eternal life and obviously included in that one sentence is one of the

tests, you have to believe in the name of the son of God, which happens to be Jesus,

at least that's the English translation of his name.

Many other languages, many other translations.

It doesn't make a whole lot of difference but the point is that there has to be a belief

in the Lord Jesus Christ, not just believing a theological fact about him, but believing

in his name that he is in fact the one who saves, that he is in fact the king of kings

and the lord of lords.

Obviously, if you believe that, it's going to make a difference in how you live your

life.

That's the first test.

Only the people who profess to believe in Jesus have any hope of being assured of salvation

because that's the requirement.

God so love the world he gave his only begotten son.

Whoever believes in him will not perish but will have everlasting life.

Well, then there are two other tests: the moral test and then the social test.

The moral test first.

When you believe in Jesus and the Holy Spirit comes to live on the inside of you, there's

a change and it's a moral change because God is a moral God.

He's a righteous God and so he imputes that righteousness to us through his Holy Spirit,

not making us obedient, holy robots, but certainly changing our basic nature, that we want to

please him, that we're empowered to please him.

Let me read to you from 1 John, earlier in 1 John chapter two and verse number three.

By this we know we have come to know him if we keep his commandments.

There is the moral test.

The one who says "I've come to know him" and does not keep his commandments is a liar and

the truth is not in him.

But whoever keeps his word, in him the love of God has truly been perfected.

By this we know that we are in him, the one who says he abides in him ought himself to

walk or to live his life in the same manner as he walked, that is Jesus, as Jesus lived

his life.

Well, Jesus, of course did not sin and those who believe in Jesus have a degree of that

in their lives as well.

Now, does that mean that we never sin, that we never stumble?

No, because other scriptures that make it plain that we are susceptible to failings.

But there's a difference between failing as a Christian and sinning as a Christian and

sinning as an unbeliever.

Sinning as a Christian, it brings this huge degree of regret and sorrow and it elicits

a confession onto the Lord and asking for his forgiveness and of course then the Lord

is merciful and gracious and he offers it and you pick yourself up and get back in the

race.

The nonbeliever sins and he might feel a tinge of guilt or something but he just keeps right

on, continuing in that same pathway.

John says this again.

It's repeated throughout his epistle.

1 John 2:29, "If you know that he is righteous, you know that everyone also who practices

righteous is born of him."

That's an important delineation there, the practicing of righteousness.

It's your manner of life, that generally speaking you're on the path of righteousness but does

not imply that you never fall off that path every so often.

Again, we're all striving to do our best because we believe in Jesus Christ.

1 John chapter three, verse number four, "Everyone who practices sin," notice the word again

there, practices, this is your lifestyle, "also practices lawlessness and sin is lawlessness.

You know that he appeared in order to take away sins and him there is no sin.

No one who abides in him sins.

No one who sins has seen him or knows him."

Well, again, some people take that one verse out of its context and try to say, "Well,

anytime if you ever sin, that shows that you're not born again or if you do sin, you'll lose

your salvation right then and there."

No.

No.

In the Greek, the verbs are in the perfect tense which implies an ongoing, once again

a practice.

"Little children," now I'm reading from verse number seven, "make sure no one deceives you.

The one who practices," there's the word again, "righteousness is righteous just as he is

righteous.

The one who practices sin is of the devil for the devil has sin from the beginning."

Well, we didn't get to the social test, the third test so that will be something we can

discuss on our next Little Lesson.

Thanks for joining me.

God bless you.
