"The Death of the Patriarch," takes place in the upstairs bedroom of the Carthage Jail

in Carthage, Illinois, on June 27, 1844.

Here, the Prophet Joseph Smith, his brother Hyrum Smith, John Taylor, and Willard Richards

were attacked by an angry mob of over 100 men.

In their own words, Willard Richards and John Taylor, the only survivors, described the

scene.

This is John Taylor's account: "almost instantly another ball passed through the panel of the

door, and struck Brother Hyrum on the left side of the nose, entering his face and head.

Immediately, when the balls struck him, he fell flat on his back, crying as he fell,

"I am a dead man."

He never moved afterwards.

I shall never forget the deep feeling of sympathy and regard manifested in the countenance of

Brother Joseph as he drew nigh to Hyrum, and, leaning over him, exclaimed, "Oh!

my poor, dear brother Hyrum!"

The death mask of Hyrum Smith shows his expression at the moment of his death and shows a man

at peace—who lived great and died great in the sight of God.

I wanted to capture that moment of peace with the Patriarch as he finished his mortal life

and slipped on to where "traitors and tyrants would fight him in vain."

I felt that the sadness expressed by the Prophet Joseph, in seeing his faithful brother fall,

would be a mixture of grief, brotherly love, and respect, which is a difficult emotion

to capture.

This, of course, was all happening in a matter of seconds, so the Prophet would have had

to have been quick in his grief, for there was still death coming from the door and window.

John Taylor talks about it being, the room being filled with smoke.

If you've ever seen Civil War reenactments or other films where they're using this old

style black powder gun, it pushes the smoke out, it's a smoke machine.

So this room would have been, just really full of smoke.

But for artistic reasons, and so you can see their faces and see these details, I lessened

the smoke.

We know that Joseph knew he would die.

I'm guessing that he probably thought he would die first.

So for Hyrum to die first—I think struck Joseph.

Facing your own death is one thing.

Facing the death of your brother at the hand of a mob, I'm not sure he thought Hyrum would

be the first to be killed.

You talk about your whole—people say that their whole life flashes before their eyes

when their, their own death is about to happen, you know?

If Joseph's life is flashing before his eyes, in that moment, he's seeing Hyrum through

that whole life.

From the time they were little kids, before his First Vision or anything and through all

those really difficult times he sees Hyrum—steady and consistent all for him.

And he's seeing the end of his brother's life.

Fox News: Bernie Sanders More Popular Than Trump - Duration: 10:04.

>> IN A NEW FOX NEWS POLL THAT WAS RELEASED ON WEDNESDAY BERNIE

SANDERS CAME OUT AS THE MOST FAVORABLE PERSON OR ENTITY THAT

WAS POLLED IN AMERICA.

61% OF AMERICANS FIND BERNIE SANDERS

FAVORABLE, ONLY 32% UNFAVORABLE.

PLANNED PARENTHOOD COMES IN

SECOND AT 57%.

OBAMA CARE CAME IN AT 50%.

HALF OF AMERICA IS IN

FAVOR OF OBAMA CARE RIGHT NOW.

MIKE PENCE ñ I DON'T UNDERSTAND

THIS ñ COMES OUT ABOVE ELIZABETH WARREN AS 47%.

OF COURSE DONALD

TRUMPS RATINGS ñ HIS POLES ARE ALL OVER THE PLACE.

AND PAUL

RYAN IS AT 37%.

I FIND PLANNED PARENTHOOD FASCINATING IN THIS.

IN THE REPUBLICAN PRIMARY THERE WERE PRO-CHOICE VOTERS BEING

POLLED, AND THEY WOULD JUSTIFY VOTING FOR DONALD TRUMP BY

SAYING THAT HE IS PRO-CHOICE,

NOT PRO-LIFE.

GENERALLY SPEAKING THESE VOTERS HAVE VOTED ON

PRO-LIFE ISSUES.

WHICH IS WHY DEMOCRATS NEED TO PAY ATTENTION

TO THE SHIFT THAT REPUBLICANS HAVE MADE IN SUPPORTING

CANDIDATES THAT ARE NOT SINGLE ISSUE CANDIDATES OR CHRISTIAN

COALITION CANDIDATES.

INSTEAD OF BEING CHRISTIAN COALITION IN

THEIR IDENTITY, THEY ARE GOING

TO ECONOMICS FIRST.

BUT THE DEMOCRATS HAVE NOT CAUGHT UP.

BERNIE SANDERS RAN ON AN ECONOMIC MESSAGE WHICH IF YOU

LISTEN TO MLK'S WRITINGS, ALL RACIAL INJUSTICE IS ROOTED IN

ECONOMIC INJUSTICE.

THIS IS VERY REVEALING.

WHEN YOU HAVE PLANNED

PARENTHOOD, OVER HALF OF AMERICANS ARE SUPPORTING THEM

WHEN REPUBLICANS ARE LOOKING TO

STRIP IT. AND OF COURSE BERNIE SANDERS IS THE MOST POPULAR

POLITICIAN.

>> THIS POLL HAS 18 DIFFERENT FASCINATING THINGS.

FIRST NOTE

THAT A FOX NEWS POOL HAS BERNIE SANDERS NUMBER ONE, AND PLANNED

PARENTHOOD NUMBER TWO.

UNDERSTAND THEY ARE NOT POLLING

THEIR OWN AUDIENCE.

BUT THIS IS A REAL POLL, AND APPARENTLY THEY

DID IT HONESTLY.

LOOK AT THE

RESULTS THEY GOT.

NUMBER TWO, A SEPARATE POLL HAD COME OUT

RECENTLY ABOUT HILLARY CLINTON'S APPROVAL RATING, 35%.

BERNIE

SANDERS AT 61%.

CAN WE PUT THIS DEBATE ASIDE?

IT COULD BE 100

AND A ZERO- THEY STILL THINK BERNIE SANDERS WOULD'VE LOST AND

HILLARY CLINTON WOULD'VE DONE

BETTER.

YOU ARE NUTS DUDE.

WE ARE NOT FAR REMOVED FROM THE

ELECTION.

REAL PEOPLE THINK HE WOULD STICK UP FOR THEM.

HE

LOOKS AND ACTS LIKE A REAL

PERSON AND HAS BEEN HONEST FOR 40 YEARS STRAIGHT.

BERNIE

SANDERS WOULD'VE ONE AND HE IS NOW ENORMOUSLY POPULAR, AND

WAY MORE POPULAR THAN DONALD TRUMP OR HILLARY CLINTON.

>>THE THING THAT INFURIATES ME IS YOU HAVE THESE NUMBERS YET

THE MEDIA CONTINUES TO PUT CLINTON ON TV, CLINTONITES AND

PRINT.

JOHN PODESTA JUST GOT A COLUMN IN THE WASHINGTON POST.

FOR WHAT?

HE JUST LOST TO A

REALITY TV STAR.

AS THESE POLL NUMBERS RISE UP YOU ARE NOT

SEEING PROGRESSIVES REPRESENTED

IN THE MEDIA.

AND THE WASHINGTON POST, THEIR HEADLINE FOR THIS

TODAY WAS BERNIE SANDERS REMAINS ONE OF THE MOST POPULAR

POLITICIANS IN AMERICA.

>> NOT ONE OF, THE MOST POPULAR.

>> BY FAR.

>> AND HE IS A SOCIALIST.

>> THERE IS NO HIDDEN AGENDA HERE.

THEY HAVE THEM WAY ABOVE

DONALD TRUMP, MIKE PENCE, AND PAUL RYAN.

HELEN POPULAR PAUL

RYAN IS IS INTERESTING.

STILL I WOULD'VE EXPECTED BETTER NUMBERS

HERE.

>> THE FACT THAT MIKE PENCE IS THIS POPULAR, THEY HAVE BEEN

MAKING HIM LOOK LIKE A DELICATE

FLOWER.

MIKE PENCE LEFT A POOR LATINO AND BLACK COMMUNITY TO

FEND FOR HIMSELF THAT WAS LED POISONED, WHILE GOING TO A WHITE

COMMUNITY AND FIXING IT IN TWO

MONTHS.

YOUTUBE.COM/TYTPOLITICS.

THE MEDIA COVERS THESE FOLKS

LIKE THEY ARE HONORABLE

GENTLEMEN.

MIKE PENCE IS AS RADICAL AS PAUL RYAN.

THE MAJORITY OF PEOPLE DON'T KNOW IT BECAUSE HE IS NOT

COVERED THAT WAY.

>> HE IS ONLY THREE POINTS ABOVE TRUMP, ALSO DEEPLY UNPOPULAR.

WE

WERE TOLD OBAMA CARE IS A

DISASTER, IF THEY ARE FAILING THAN DONALD TRUMP AND MIKE

PENCE ARE FAILING MUCH FASTER.

>> IF ANYTHING THIS PROVES THAT ECONOMIC ISSUES ARE WHAT

PEOPLE CARE ABOUT.

>> YOU HAD A GREAT TRANSITION FOR WHAT I WANTED TO TALK ABOUT.

BUT FIRST LOOK AT THE POLL AND SEE WHAT PEOPLE WANT OUT OF A

TRUMP PRESIDENCY.

IF TRUMP COULD ONLY DO ONE THING WHAT WOULD YOU

WANT HIM TO DO?

THE BIGGEST

WINNER BY FAR WAS JOBS, 33% SAID JOBS.

23% COMING IN IS HIM

WANTING TO DESTROY THE ISLAMIC

STATE.

OKAY.

THAT IS A HELL OF A THING TO DO.

PEOPLE ARE LIKELY

TO BE DISAPPOINTED FOR THAT, BUT

THAT IS REAL.

10% WANT HIM TO CUT TAXES.

9% SAY THEY WOULD

LIKE HIM TO REPEAL AND REPLACE OBAMA CARE, ALSO NOT ANYWHERE

NEAR AS LARGE AS CREATE JOBS.

AND ONLY 3% WANT HIM TO REDUCE

FEDERAL REGULATIONS.

THAT IS WHAT BUSINESSES AND

MULTINATIONAL CORPORATIONS WANT.

REAL HUMAN BEINGS ARE LIKE

CUT WHAT REGULATIONS?

ONLY 3% WANT HIM TO BUILD A BORDER WALL.

AS THEIR TOP PRIORITY.

ONLY 3% PUT IN THAT CATEGORY.

CAREFUL

WHAT THE MEDIA TELLS YOU, IT

MIGHT NOT NECESSARILY BE SO.

TRUMP IS ALSO MISLED ON THIS.

IN

REALITY WHAT PEOPLE WANT IS

JOBS.

YOU ARE MAKING YOUR DONORS HAPPY BUT THAT POLITICAL STORY

DOES NOT END WELL FOR YOU IF YOU ARE IGNORING THE NUMBER ONE

PRIORITY PEOPLE ACTUALLY VOTED FOR.

>> PAULINE BE IN THE MOST UNPOPULAR POLITICIAN RELATES TO

WHAT WE'RE TALKING ABOUT EARLIER.

THE IDEA THAT THE

REPUBLICAN VOTER BASIS SO BEHIND ñ IT IS DISPROVEN CONSTANTLY IN

PART BY THIS POLL BECAUSE WHAT

IS PAUL RYAN ASSOCIATED WITH?

FISCAL CONSERVATISM AND CUTTING

SOCIAL SPENDING.

WHEREAS TRUMP

LESS SO.

PAUL RYAN IS UNPOPULAR AND HIS INABILITY TO CONNECT

WITH THE SEGMENT OF THE TRUMP BASE SHOWS HOW UNPOPULAR OVERALL

THAT SORT OF AGENDA IS.

WHICH IS

WHY TRUMP REALLY DOESN'T HAVE TO CAPITULATE FULLY, BUT ALL THE

PRESSURE IS COMING ON HIM FROM THE ESTABLISHMENT TO DO SO.

>> THAT IS A GREAT POINT.

ON TELEVISION THEY ALWAYS TELL YOU

PAUL RYAN IS A REAL

CONSERVATIVE.

WELL THEN APPARENTLY PEOPLE DON'T LIKE

REAL CONSERVATIVES.

WHAT DID WE TELL YOU?

THAT HE DID REPRESENTS

THE DONORS.

YOU MIGHT NOT KNOW THAT SITTING IN THE MIDDLE OF

NEBRASKA, BUT YOU GOT A SENSE OF

IT.

NO MATTER HOW MUCH PEOPLE PUT BEHIND PAUL RYAN, YOU HAVE

FIGURED OUT HE IS NOT FOR US.

Graph in JavaScript using TDD. Data Structures for Front-end: #2.7 the hidden Gems - Duration: 9:47.

A data structure is a particular way of organizing data in a computer's memory.

Nonetheless, do we really need data structures in the Frontend development?

The answer is yes.

I'll show you why.

[Music playing]

Hi!

Let's talk today about a data structure, namely Graph and its realization in JavaScript.

I'm Anatol and you are watching the Good Parts of the Frontend development.

[Music playing]

Let's start with a definition.

What is a Graph?

In computer science, a graph is an abstract data type that is meant to implement the undirected

graph and directed graph concepts from mathematics.

A graph consists of a finite set of nodes connected with edges.

The principal benefit of a Graph is that it's easy to represent real life relationships

between different types of data in the computer memory.

What's the point of the having a Graph in Front-End?

Site Map of your website and links between pages is a graph.

Your friends' list in Facebook is a list of nodes connected with edges, that is a graph

And, in general, the Internet routing could be represented as a Graph

Do you have another experience?

Leave it in the comments below.

[Music playing]

To any Graph the following operations are applicable:

add: add a node or create an edge between the nodes

remove: take away a node from a graph or remove an edge between the nodes

search: check if a graph contains a given value or if a connection exists between two

given nodes

It is possible to have a undirected graph where a connection between a pair of nodes

is bidirectional.

In case of a directed graph, each edge has a concrete orientation.

A graph may also associate to each edge some value - a symbolic label or a numeric attribute

(cost, capacity, length, etc.).

[Music playing]

One of the method of graph implementation is an Adjacency list.

The complexity of operations in that case is following:

Addition is O(1): Because it's needed a constant time to add a new node or an edge

Removal is O(1) for edges, but O(n) for nodes, where n is a number of the nodes.

Because the algorithm should iterate over each node to remove all dependent connections.

Search is O(1): Because a constant time is required to find a node or an edge

Let's dive in the code.

[Music playing]

use package.json file, created in the previous episode.

Use mocha for testing create test file

describe test

use a Graph to create a list of friends.

Add your friends

check a defined person and set connections between friends

check

a particular connection.

OK, now remove that connection and check the value.

Remove a defined person and check the Graph.

Run test.

Test failed because I haven't created this class yet.

[Music playing]

Now create Graph class its constructor builds a list of nodes

add node method remove node

first of all, remove all connections related to this node

then delete the node itself Has node method

add edge method creates an edge if both nodes exist.

I use double equation several variables to set the same value to make code shorter.

remove edge method removes an edge if both nodes exist.

Has edge method.

And export module run test again

test is green

[Music playing]

My code is available on GitHub Documentation is available in the Internet.

Internet of Things applied courseware: validate and troubleshoot with a digital oscilloscope - Duration: 3:28.

Hi, I am Hock Eng from Keysight Technologies.

Attending lab sessions in electrical or electronic engineering courses can be fun or frustrating as well.

Fun, because you have to chance to work hands-on, and you get the right results.

Frustrating, because something may go wrong during your hands-on practical. And you get the undesired result.

The same case or scenario applies to our Keysight IoT applied courseware.

During the labs, you are bound to get some undesired results.

This could be some error in your coding or even some connection error.

This video will help you to solve this frustration.

Understanding analog to digital convertors (ADC) is one of the labs inside the IoT systems design applied courseware.

In this lab, students are required to use the analog temperature sensor,

connected to the U3800A IoT development kit as shown over here.

And it's measuring the room temperature.

The student is required to get the digital signal measurement from the board (development kit)

Another way to validate this (digital signal) is to use a digital oscilloscope shown over here

and get the analog signal measurement.

And with this, you can validate the digital signal measurement.

In another example,

the student is required to generate a 50% pulse width modulation (PWM) to drive a DC motor.

But at the end, there is no movement at the DC motor.

One way to troubleshoot this problem is use a digital oscilloscope and probe on the PWM signal.

And as you can see, it turns out that the PWM signal is only at 5% duty cycle.

A quick check on the coding shows that there was a minor mistake on setting up the PWM duty cycle.

And once the code is rectified, as you can see on the oscilloscope, the PWM duty cycle now is at 50%.

And this is how a digital oscilloscope is used to troubleshot the signal.

A digital oscilloscope such as the Keysight 1000 X-series

can be a great companion for students when performing the IoT applied courseware labs.

It's compact and very easy to use.

Thank you for watching. For further details, do visit our website.
