Well I'm going to tell you a bit about my gear.
And I've chosen to tell you about the two guitars that I use most.
Which are the LTD Hybrid-400. And a Gibson Junior.
Let's look at this one first.
It's called a "Hybrid" because it's a hybrid between a "Statocaster" and a "Telecaster".
Very interesting combination.
A Seymour Duncan JB pickup. And a Quarter Pound Rhythm pickup. If I remember correctly.
I don't really use that one. So enough about that.
This is my Yamaha RBX374. That I've had for about 8 years now.
It is lovely. It's heavy. And it's fantastic to play.
It never goes out of tune.
I've been so happy with it. That when the opportunity came.
I bought another one!
It's a younger model.
I believe it's from 2013 or thereabout.
It's slightly lighter. But just as playable as the other one.
Now this is the Gibson Junior.
Standard Gibson Junior with a P90 pickup.
Custom rusted metal pickguard and knobs.
To give it a nice punk feeling.
I'm really happy with it.

Jim kind of stole the best one and told you about the Gibson Junior.
I have one of those too. And in fact I bought mine first.
I think I'm going to tell you about this one then.
This is actually a very cheap Squier (Fender).
Which I've spend way too much money modifying.
Threw a Seymour Duncan pickup in it just to name one thing.
I've put a lot of stickers all over it.
The "sound" of SOG was pretty much build around this guitar.
In the beginning at least. Later on the sound naturally evolved.
But this is…
This is craftsmanship on a high level..
It's quality.
Well… It's a guitar right.
It's loud!
Tama snare.
From the Metalworks series if I remember correctly.
It's a 14" snare.
Sounds lovely. It's got a lot of punch.
It has a lot of High and Mid tone to it.
The other one I got here is this little troublemaker.
I haven't done a lot of shows with this one. Yet.
It's a Stagg.
To be more specific, it's a Tom Delonge signature series.
With a, well I believe it's an Invader pickup.
It might be a copy, I haven't really looked into it.
I don't really care to be honest.
It's insanely loud. I like that!
I'm definitely going to use this more live at some point.
The next thing I want to tell you about are my cymbals.
I used to have the worst cymbals.
I of course upgraded later. And used a crazy amount of money to do so.
I then got these Zildjian A Custom cymbals in standard size.
They kind of "spoke" to me.
The sound is very bright and explosive.
And very "In your face".
Not too dark in the sound.
I of course tried out multiple options. However, in the end I really fell for these.
They fit in very well with our sound.
Now these are our amps.
Which are Marshall JCM2000s.
We are very happy with them.
They have all the basic functions that we need. And they've got footswitches.
That's a little more complicated then I care to explain right now.
Well… It's not really that complicated I just don't want to get in to it now.
Well yeah. That's kind of all the technical stuff behind Standing on Giants.
Here, there and also there. As you can see, Jim uses the same amp.
Again I would like to ad that he very clearly copies me…

we're going to be talking about minimal
pairs aren't we oh yeah so what is
a minimal pair a minimal pair is two
words a pair of words that sound very
similar but have one little difference
one of the sound is different ok a good
example is ship and sheep so ship as in
the big boat which carries lots of
passengers across the ocean and sheep
maa maa
why are minimal pairs so
interesting well I think they're really
interesting because often they'll use
vowel sounds especially that other
languages don't have in them i.e the
Spanish absolutely Spanish speakers really
suffer with the i / ɪ and ee / iː differentiation
very true and we were thinking that
sometimes if you want to say one of the
words from the pair but you accidentally
pronounce the other one you could have a
very confusing and embarrassing and
sometimes offensive ooph situation

and the back of your mouth and make a
short voiced sound with your mouth open

again with the correct pronunciation

the 'i:' sound but this time bring your
tongue and jaw slightly lower and make a
