Laci Kay Somers: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know

Laci Kay Somers, 25, was rumored to be partying with Tiger Woods on the night of his DUI arrest. However, the model, who is quite popular on Instagram, has denied that she was hanging out with the pro-golfer.

According to TMZ, Somers insists that she was in Los Angeles, not Florida, the night that Woods was arrested. Furthermore, she told TMZ that she has never even met Woods, nor has she ever even spoken to him.

Here is what you need to know:. Somers Denied the Dating Rumors in a Lengthy Post on Facebook.

Shortly after TMZ posted their story on Somers, she took to Facebook dismiss the rumors. Her statement stressed that she is not involved and has not ever been involved with Woods in any way, shape, or form.

"There have been several rumors regarding my alleged involvement with pro golfer Tiger Woods.

I want to make it very clear that I have never met him in person, never spoken to him over the phone, and have never had any interaction with him over any devices whatsoever including social media (IG and Facebook), we don't know each other.

I have never done drugs or taken any illegal substance in my entire life. I'm not sure where the rumor started that we were together, I've been home all weekend with my dogs and my mom.

I was not partying in LA (sic) for Memorial Day weekend with him or anyone else for that matter. Please do not believe everything you read on the internet. Thank you," Somer posted on Thursday morning.

Tiger Woods Is Dating Kristin Smith, But Somers Is His Type.   These rainy days in Cali, have me feeling some type of way.

Woods is thought to be dating Kristin Smith, the ex-wife of former Dallas Cowboys safety Gerald Sensabaugh. According to her LinkedIn page, Smith graduated from the University of Central Florida with a degree in marketing in 2005.

She works as a stylist and owns her own company called The Clad Life. She currently lives in Dallas, Texas, with her son, Isaiah, 7. Rumors that Woods was spending time with Somers surfaced just days after his arrest.

As Maxim points out, Somers looks like she is Woods' type — he has dated plenty of blondes including his ex-wife, Elin Nordegren, his ex-girlfriend, Lindsey Vonn, as well as his current girlfriend.

Woods split from Nordergren in 2010 after several reports about Woods having extra-marital affairs surfaced. The story that gained the most attention claimed that Nordegren attacked him with a golf club upon learning of his infidelity.

He dated Olympic skier Vonn from 2012 until 2015. He was first linked to Smith in late 2016. Rumors Woods Was Hooking Up With Somers Started Back in March.

The rumors that Woods was linked to Somers began back in March. Sports gossip outlet Terez Owens was first to start the speculation. The site claimed to have received a "tip" about a hot new couple.

"Check out Laci Somers, who reportedly is hanging with the Tiger. Of course this may just be a false tip, because you know, being associated with Tiger is never a bad thing.

It can always take you from anonymous to famous quickly," Terez Owens reported in late March.

Following the initial publication, several other outlets picked up the story. But, it seems, there wasn't any proof behind the "tip." As such, the rumors fizzled out. That is, until Woods' name was in the news again.

  Today we remember the fallen heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice for our great country. My grandfather Papa served in the Navy in 1956, and I remember hearing stories about his time in the service.

Somers has a healthy social media following. In addition to 96,000 followers on Twitter, almost 435,000 people follow her page on Facebook.

Her big score, however, is the 8 million Instagram followers. She dazzles them with sexy snaps on a regular basis. Her most recent photo reveals that she has been working on some new music that she plans to release soon.

"New music coming soon, I've been working on some new songs with my team! I can't wait to share my passion with you all this summer.

Never stop chasing your dreams and always remember that no matter how many setbacks happen, keep moving forward," she captioned her latest photo, posted on Wednesday.

In addition to showing off her figure, her latest tweet also makes it clear who she's pulling for in the 2017 NBA Finals. Somers Has Worked With Steve-O of 'Jackass' Fame.

According to The Sun, Somers has also posed for Playboy and her named is credited to a few porn videos online. At this time, the outlet says, her main focus appears to be modeling.

"Singing, by account of a YouTube channel where she covers songs and also a crowdfunding page to try and help launch her music career.

But her day job does largely appear to be wearing a little amount of clothing at any one time in numerous topless photo shoots," reports The Sun.

Today, we're going to be making something really really cute, but at the same time

it's delicious!

we are going to make a chocolate cup to put inside

whatever you want a dessert, ice cream, fruit, whatever!

and for that I have a really special guest today

In this video we are going to be making chocolate cups

to put inside whatever you want and you are going to help me.

Ok. Are you ready for this? I'm ready.

I think you are going to do something that you've never done in your life...

What is this about?

This is going to be like super fun! You have to inflate balloons,

Dip them in chocolate, and then pinch the balloons

and then put inside whatever you want.

Are you ready for this?

That sounds very crazy.

Okay, let's do it!

Mine is prettier.

Now I'm scared...

I feel like this is a set up!

All the balloons are ready and the next step is

that we're going to use a little bit of PAN, just a tiny bit

and then with a brush we're going to be spreading it

all around the part that we're going to dip each balloon in the chocolate

What are you going to do?

Were you going to trick me?

I caught you!

I'm mean, I have the weapon!

So now the balloons are ready and we have to start melting the chocolate

Have you ever melted chocolate? Yes?

Where? In the stove. Yeah in the stove is one way to

do it but now we're going to do it in the microwave, okay? Perfect!

Different. It's a little bit different and what we have to do is that

we're not going to put it at full temperature high speed high temperature because this is going to burn and

we want to be able to dip the balloons and still be able to

somehow work with the chocolate right?

And how long does it take?

We put it in the microwave first for one minute

and half temperature, we take it out

we stir it a little bit and then we put it back for about

20 seconds at a time.

Remember don't put the temperature on high because it won't work,

so halfway there, for one minute and then

Intervals of 20 seconds at a time. Are you ready to do this ready?

Ready, let's go! You do the white I do the black. Let's go

This things happen!

Please don't blow up because I have no more clothes!

I think I'm going to keep this and frame it.

Well now this is the most difficult part and I'm

so stressed out about this, are you nervous? Yes

Yes me too because now we have to dig a tiny hole

in each of the balloons,

and then we're going to wait for each one to disinflate

and then hopefully the little cups are not going to break.

No it's going to be ok.

Yes, I'll make a little hole here...

It looks beautiful! Beautiful! Beautiful!

2 of the cups are ready and while the other ones are in the freezer

we have a lot of toppings here to choose from

and I know you love fruits. I love it!

We have ice cream here and also Sprinkles

because this is always the kids favorite

right? Yes, and blueberries,

blackberries, strawberries, and cherries.

We're going to put a scoop of ice cream in each one

and this should be really good!

and then you can use whatever you want

chocolate mousse for example,

MY HOMEMADE LIGHTSABER EXPLODED! - Duration: 6:13.

oh my god it works! guys it actually works!

all right we're going to attempt to build a real-life lightsaber

we've received numerous requests and we're finally taking this project on now

the funny thing is with lightsabers everyone's all so focused on making a

lightsaber aspect but no one really pays attention to the power supply because

the truth of the matter is how are you going to get that much power into something that'll

actually allow you to cut through things it's just like Tony Stark's arc reactor

even if we could build a fully functional Iron Man suit or in this case

a lightsaber we'd have no way of powering it in a compact small way but

that's never stopped us before!

all right so how are we going to do it? now getting the power isn't actually an

issue we've got tons of these zippy batteries from hobbyking but how are we

going to fit it into the lightsaber hilt? now luckily in some Star Wars comics

there's actually a concept called a protosaber, quite literally a prototype

lightsaber and guess what it features a battery backpack so that's exactly what

we're going to do! Now the tricky part is with that many batteries how are you

going to turn the power on we can't just use a regular light switch...

As you can see you can't just use a regular light switch and that's where Digikey

comes into play, you see they're actually sponsoring this project and providing us

with some rather specialized components for us to build our very own lightsaber power supply.

Alright so how does it work

We're using a whole bunch of MOSFETs in parallel to turn the power supply on and

off for more information about how the circuit works click the link in the

description below

all right so we've got the power control unit all done and for the first test we

actually live streamed it to our vlog channel so if you guys haven't

subscribed to that channel yet, you probably should otherwise you're going

to miss out on future epic live streams where we test our gadgets for the very

first time, so you really want to make sure you subscribe to that channel anyways

this is what happened.

Alright guys this may be the last

video the Hacksmith channel ever releases because we are about to test our

lightsaber power supply which consists of 20 lithium polymer batteries producing

over 200 kilowatts of power that is more electricity than three North American

homes can produce and if something goes wrong the whole thing goes boom.

On the Hacksmith channel where safety is number one priority

all right three... oh god... back up... two... one -- I didn't like that beep oh holy crap look at that

that is red-hot steel ohhh... like it oh my god it works

GUYS, GUYS, IT ACTUALLY WORKS! I was, I was somewhat skeptical but it is working!

Okay, now we only have two rods which means they will heat up a lot faster....

it's gotten so hot little bits of metal are flying off the steel look at

that there's a little molten blobs of metal

that solid steel that's ridiculous! Can we like hit it with something?

Oh, there it goes...

Alright so that went pretty good but we made a couple changes

and tried it again and then something bad happened

SMOOOOKINNNN

all right so what the heck happened there? Uhh one of the components actually

caught fire probably because we're overloading the circuit a little bit and

we used a chemical fire extinguisher to put it out because we didn't want the

fire to spread to the batteries unfortunately a chemical fire

extinguishers make really nasty kind of yellow smoke and some passerby or maybe

a neighbor saw smoke coming out of our garage so they called 9-1-1 and a Police

Cruiser showed up and I think three fire trucks luckily after they saw that we

didn't actually have a real fire it was just a fire extinguisher they left but

we learned a big lesson and that is we need more safety factors in our designs

we're actually completely redesigning power supply and beefing it up like

crazy so this doesn't happen again that power supply is going to give us enough

electricity or the lights hit but how do you think we're actually going to make

WONDER WOMAN 17 Amazing EASTER EGGS You Probably Missed - Duration: 6:29.

Patty Jenkins' Wonder Woman movie is a pretty great standalone origin story for the iconic

superhero, and includes some very cool easter eggs and homages to the comics, the DC Extended

Universe and, of course, Wonder Woman's previous incarnations on the small screen.

Yippee-ki-yay, movie lovers, it's Jan here, and in this video, I'm going to peel back

the layers of the new Wonder Woman movie to uncover some awesome easter eggs, references

and little details you might have missed.

If there's any others you spotted or enjoyed, leave a comment below and make sure you're

the gorgeous concept art, designs, sketches and storyboards from the film.

Spoilers, of course, lie ahead for the movie, so be aware of that, otherwise, you can check

here after you've seen the movie.

Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins has described the movie as Superman and Indiana Jones meets

Casablanca, and there is definitely a nice nod to Richard Donner's 1978 Superman movie

during the alley scene when Diana stops a bullet that's about to hit Steve Trevor, and

the bullet falls into the palm of Steve's hand.

This moment recalls how Clark Kent saved Lois Lane in an alley from a mugger's gunshot by

catching the bullet in the palm of his hand.

When Steve reveals his identity to the Amazons, under the influence of the Lasso of Truth,

he tells them his serial number is 81 41 921, which is a subtle easter egg to the comic

book where both Wonder Woman and Steve Trevor made their first appearance: volume 1, issue

8 of All-Star Comics, December to January 1941 to 1942.

Just before Diana leaves London for the Front with Steve, there's a rather sweet moment

at the train station where she tastes ice cream for the first time.

This scene is a call-back to a very similar moment in the 2011 Justice League: Origin

comic where Wonder Woman got her first taste of ice cream.

And in the new movie, she even tells the vendor, "you should be very proud", just as she does

in the comic.

By the way, this moment was also recreated in the 2014 animated movie, Justice League:

War.

To stop Diana revealing herself as the Princess of Themyscira, Steve Trevor hastily introduces

her as Diana Prince.

In the comics, Diana Prince was the secret alias that Diana first took on in 1942 when

she met a nurse with that name who looked just like her, but wore glasses.

And in the movie, when Diana puts on a pair of glasses as part of her new identity, that's

also a hat-tip to that same comic book story.

By the way, Patty Jenkins has said she included several subtle homages to actress Lynda Carter's

Wonder Woman from the 1970s TV series.

For example, when Diana translates Dr Poison's notebook for the army generals, Steve lies

to them, saying Diana is his secretary, which is a hint to the 70s TV show where Diana Prince

was indeed Steve Trevor's secretary.

And in the movie, when Steve insists Diana wear glasses so that she looks 'less distracting',

it's a throwback to the TV pilot for the 70s series, in which Steve says that after all

the trouble he's had with "pretty girls", he wants an "ordinary-looking secretary",

after which he meets a glasses-wearing Diana Prince.

At the department store, when Steve asks Etta Candy where Diana is, Etta replies that she's

"trying on outfit number 226", which is an interesting number for Etta to pluck out of

the air as in the Wonder Woman comics, the cover of issue 226 features Superman raising

a tank above his head, much like the moment in the movie when Wonder Woman does the same.

There's a shout-out to Paradise Island, the original name of Wonder Woman's homeland in

the comics and the 1970s TV show, when Steve asks Diana if they have dancing on Paradise

Island.

By the way, the name Themyscira, which is used for Diana's homeland in the movie, appeared

in later comics.

The humorous moment on the boat when Diana tells Steve she's read all 12 of Clio's books

on Bodily Pleasure is a reference to the royal Amazon scribe called Clio who appeared in

the Wonder Woman comics.

There's an interesting call-back to the prevalent use of chains in the Wonder Woman comics during

Diana's final battle with Ares when the God of War manages to momentarily chain her arm.

In the early Wonder Woman comics, welding chains to an Amazon's bracelets could temporarily

weaken them, though this changed in later comics, so Ares' use of a chain as a weapon

against Diana and her breaking free from it are symbolic.

Any Wonder Woman fan will, of course, be familiar with her Lasso of Truth, but in the movie

Diana calls it the Lasso of Hestia, which is a reference to the Goddess of the Hearth

and Home, Hestia, whose fires gave the lasso its power.

Wonder Woman links back to Batman v Superman where her character first appeared in the

DCEU when modern-day Diana who's working at the Louvre receives a package from Wayne Enterprises.

In the package is the photo of her, Steve, Sameer, Charlie, and the Chief that Bruce

Wayne stole from Lex Luthor in BvS.

And there's also a little tease to the Justice League in the letters "JL" which appear on

the license plate of the Wayne Enterprises van that delivers that photo.

Before Wonder Woman defeats Ares, he makes a proposition to her that has strong echoes

of Man of Steel.

Ares asks Diana to join him and rid the world of humankind, and she responds, "I can never

be a part of that", a clear call-back to how Superman refused Zod's proposition to help

him with the World Engine on Earth with the words, "No, Zod.

I can't be a part of this."

Diana, of course, finally defeats Ares but it turns out that it's not her sword that's

the God Killer, but herself, which is a really interesting easter egg because, in the comics,

the God Killer sword was actually wielded by Deathstroke in a story that also featured

Wonder Woman.

But what's even more intriguing is that the way Wonder Woman defeats Ares in the movie

by taking the electrical energy he blasts at her and powering it back at him is very

reminiscent of how the God Killer sword in the comics can take the energy it receives

from an aggressor and turn it back on them with double the force.

0012 Excel Shortcuts: How to Zoom In or Out - Duration: 2:33.

How many times have you received a spreadsheet only to have a really hard

time reading it because the text was way too small? It happens to me all the time,

and the first thing I do is zoom in to the correct level. That's exactly what I'm

going to teach you in this video.

What's wrong with this picture? If you can read any of this, then I'm extremely

impressed. This is way too small, and the only thing we can possibly do before doing

anything else is zooming in, right? That is such a key thing that so many of my

clients somehow seem to forget, and they make it really difficult for me to

actually read what they're actually using on a daily basis. So don't ever make it

hard for someone to read your spreadsheet. Always zoom in very,

very nice and big, but not too big because then you can't see everything that you

want to see. So that's pretty much the essence of this video. And the way to do

this with the keyboard is, on the PC, it's Alt+W+Q will get you to this zoom

window. You can use any one of these presets. You can use up and down arrows to

select them. You can use the Alt and then one of those numbers or letters that's

corresponding to the underlined section, and it will jump to that spot.

And if you want to type in your own number, I like 125, and hit Enter,

it will now jump to that specific zoom. On a Mac, what you need to do is actually

customize your keyboard shortcut. There is a separate video. Check out the

description of this video and click on the link for detailed, step by step

instructions. In this case, it is Control+Shift+Q, and the Q looks like a

little magnifying glass. So you're like Sherlock Holmes for a day and you want to

say, "Hey, where's my magnifying glass?" That's how I actually figure out how to

zoom in with that keyboard shortcut. If you want another way to do this,

you can actually press and hold the Control key and then scroll up and down to

zoom in and out. That's actually how I've been doing it. You may not have even

noticed, but that's how I did it. Here are a couple exercises to reinforce these

shortcuts and help you practice them. So on the tab itself, on the name of it,

it tells you how much you need to zoom in to. Go ahead and use those shortcuts.

In this case, on a PC, Alt+W+Q. Hit Tab to move to this next box and then type in 400

and then hit Enter, and you're going to get to the right spot.

Again, just follow the prompts on each of these, and you'll get to the right

approach. And that way, you can practice all of these shortcuts to your heart's

self-care tips and today I want to talk about gratitude it's difficult sometimes

introducing the word gratitude to a client when they're in difficult

circumstances but being grateful having gratitude is one of the best ways

to help lift your mood and to improve your health and to improve relationships

gratitude as so many benefits there's also research to show that gratitude

improves our own self-esteem when you're not comparing yourself to everyone else

and you appreciate what you've got You ppreciate who you are as a person that's

going to really boost your self-esteem a useful way of doing this is to write

down in your journal around five things on a daily basis that you're grateful

for why things doesn't have to be anything big could be that you add a

nice meal to eat that you had a nice conversation with a friends whatever it

is that lifted your mood that lifted your spirits write it down and it's also

useful as well weeks or months down the line to read it

back then you can remember some of the things that was good in your life

that you'd forgotten about hope you find that useful as usual let me let you

Making Maple Syrup (Tapping Trees)

Presented by the University of Missouri School of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources.

Ben Knapp: Well, we're at the Baskett Wildlife Research and Education Center,

one of CAFNR's research centers, where we do a maple syrup project.

We have a number of sugar maple trees throughout the property,

but this particular area is kind of unique,

in that we have over 150 sugar maples right here in one location.

We've been using this area as a place to tap sugar maple trees to make maple syrup

for the last four or five years or so.

But the way we do this, you go in about inch-and-a-half to two inches into the tree.

Okay, that's as far as we need to drill.

You want to go at a slight angle.

So the drill, you're drilling at a slight upward angle, so when the sap comes through

it's going to drip down easier.

So you can put the tap right into the hole.

And then give it couple good solid whacks.

And we really want to get it so it seals against the wood, so all the sap comes out and not down.

How to varnish a oil painting. - Duration: 10:03.

I will use two types of varnish.

In spray.

And to apply with a brush.

Usually used for acrylic and oil.

The most important thing is that the paint is completely dry.

The function of the varnish, besides brightening, is to protect the paint from the passage of time.

Over time the oil may rust and crack.

I'm going to paint these two little pictures that I painted some time ago.

For one I will use a brush and for the other spray.

It can be seen as they have no brightness.

The first thing is to remove dust with cloth or a feather duster.

Important, the painting should be face up, otherwise the varnish could slide down.

We give horizontal and uniform passes.

Let dry face up.

Lets go with the spray.

This time we can raise the painting a bit to better apply the spray.

Quick passes without stopping.

Face up.

We see the brightness acquired and how the picture looks really more attractive.

It is also protected.

Face up to dry.

Dust your ceiling fans, wash your sheets and blankets, and throw your pillows in the dryer

aggravating allergens.

Limit or Avoid Alcohol.

Alcohol relaxes most people, and because snoring occurs when the throat and tongue are relaxed,

alcohol can add to the problem due to the extremely relaxed state it may cause.

This could actually make your snoring worse.

6.

SLEEP SCHEDULE.

Your sleep schedule could be making your snoring problem worse.

Consider going to bed at the same time every night and waking up at the same time every

morning to regulate when your body knows to rest.

Kardashian and Chyna had a very up and down relationship from the start. Over the past year or so, the two have broken up countless times, gotten into nasty fights, and have fooled everyone into thinking that their relationship was actually over.

Since their most recent split, Kardashian has been posting a lot of photos of the couple's daughter, Dream.

As mentioned earlier in this post, he did upload a couple of pictures of Chyna over the past few days and even captioned one of them with "I love you," which made many people wonder if the two were back on again.

However, on Thursday, James' name popped up online as Kardashian's new love interest.

"Rob's been seeing [reality star] Mehgan James for almost three months, and most of the Kardashians are very upset about it because Mehgan is known for being out of control and volatile.

How To Turn Her On With Body Language - Duration: 5:11.

Hey YouTube, Kate Spring here, dating and relationship coach from Victoria, BC.

A lot of you have been asking me how to turn a girl on with your body language.

And that is an excellent question!

This is one of the best ways to simulate some attraction between you and a little miss.

Honestly, there is nothing better than those butterflies that you get in your stomach when

you start to develop feelings for someone and their touch becomes electric!

Body language is your non-verbal way of communicating with people.

It is equally as important as your verbal communication.

Whether you believe me or not, I promise you that we interact and we judge people based

on this type of communication whether consciously or unconsciously.

Having positive and engaging body language is key to putting yourself ahead in the dating

world.

Just before we get started, make sure if you have any questions at all to please leave

The best thing to remember, and I can't stress this enough, is to make eye contact

with her.

Strong eye contact communicates to people that you are more dominant and powerful than

say someone with shfity eyes or someone who is unable to hold eye contact.

That type of person is understood as insecure.

If you can make eye contact with a woman, she will perceive you to be warmer, likeable

and approachable.

And when you are speaking with a woman, and you are able to hold strong eye contact with

her, it makes a girl feel like you are only paying attention to her, which you should

be.

One at a time, it's like when you were little and your mom would only let you have one cookie

at a time.

Same thing applies here.

When you are looking all around the room and not at her, she will become disengaged and

probably not want to continue talking to you because through your eye contact, she feels

like you would rather be elsewhere.

So smile and face her with an open body posture.

Don't cross your arms in front of you, and start asking her questions about herself.

These are the basics!

Women are extremely receptive to body language.

And this is your first step in turning her on with body language.

Ask yourself, "what am I trying to accomplish with my body language?"

Or "what am I trying to communicate through my body?"

And, remember, you're trying to communicate that you are a confident man with a lot to

offer a woman!

You also want to communicate interest and enthusiasm, not in the way where you stare

at her and talk too close to her face.

That will just make her uncomfortable and most likely force her to clam up.

Women are attracted to power.

You can communicate this by taking up space.

What I mean by take up space is be big.

If you're sitting down don't cross your legs or arms.

Be open and sit with your legs apart and maybe even your arm on the chair next to you.

If you are feeling flirty, and the situation feels right, you could slowly bridge the gap

of space between you two.

For example, soft touch on the shoulder, or guiding her to the bar with your hand at the

small of her back is a good place to start.

If she is interested in you and is also exhibiting some positive body language, then she will

welcome this kind of touch.

Alright, if you want to know a little secret, Amy Cuddy gives a TED Talk about how body

language shapes who you are.

She suggests that before you are going into a job interview, in this case I'm going

to say date, or any time you're feeling nervous and or small, make yourself big and

hold that pose for 2 minutes.

Make yourself stand in a power pose.

This could be with your arms straight up in the air or a superman-like pose.

She says this has proven to make people feel more confident.

So if you are finding yourself nervous, and you need an instant confidence boost, try

this!

I guarantee you that women will be more attracted to the confident version of yourself.

Another way to turn women on is to be calm.

Because women are attracted to powerful, confident men, if you are calm, she will mirror your

reactions.

Being calm means listening, having a relaxed body posture—one that isn't rigid and

still, but is loose and friendly.

Another part of being calm is that because you are loose and at ease, you can lean into

her, which will start to create a little sexual tension.

You want to play into the build up here because this is the time to do it.

And leave her wanting more.

Turning a woman on with your body language begins with your body posture, but you also

have to dress your body to impress.

How you present yourself is also part of your body language.

If you are trying to turn a woman on, dress like it.

I don't mean whip out your leather ass-less chaps, but dress like you want to be there

and that you have put some thought and effort into your appearance.

If I know anything about women, it is that we take time to present ourselves.

If you are dressed like you don't want to be there, we will assume that you don't.

But if you look like you've made an effort to be there, then we can tell.

This is all part of that whole thought process that suggests we like people who like us already.

So if you're dressed for us, we can tell you like us, which will make us like you,

which is what we want!

We are attracted to people who like us, and one of the ways you can communicate that to

us non-verbally is if you dress like you've put some thought into your outfit.

This doesn't mean you have to look like a GQ model, but it does mean that your clothes

should say that you have good taste.

Why Schools Should Teach Skepticism Above Obedience | Lawrence Krauss - Duration: 5:38.

One of the biggest surprises of the Internet is we thought when the Internet came out it

would provide everyone new fundamental tools to learn about the world around them, and

it would actually remove the censorship and information that we get.

Before the Internet we used to get our news from three TV stations and it was carefully

edited and carefully described, and after the Internet came out you could search news

sources from around the world—great!

The problem is the Internet also became a source of misinformation.

There's that very famous cartoon that says, "On the Internet no one knows if you're

a dog," with a dog typing on a typewriter.

You don't know the source of your information, which is the beauty of it.

It was the reason it was actually created by particle physicist working at the Large

Hadron Collider, or at least CERN the laboratory where that now is, because thousands of physicists

needed to communicate with information without caring about where the source came from.

But the fact that the source is shielded is, of course, a great concern nowadays in the

political world among other things, and so we have to think about ways that we can address

that.

Now, of course, information providers can try and work on that too, but we basically

all have our own responsibility to become our own filters.

And that's why it seems to me the educational system has to provide those tools, those filtering

tools.

And that's one of the reasons why I think science is so important because of its built-in

filtering tools.

It recognizes that we all want to believe, and as Richard Feynman said, "The person you

have to question most is yourself."

Knowing that you want to believe when you read something that validates your beliefs,

you should be skeptical of it and your beliefs and you should look out for other sources.

So we have to train people that one source on the Internet is not good enough, you have

to search broadly to see if it's validated.

More over, you have to empirically test those ideas.

If claims are made, you could look out and look at the data to see if those claims are

validated.

We all have this new responsibility, because we have a sudden wealth of information, to

become our own filters.

And I can't see any way that we can move into an Internet-guided world where democracy remains

vibrant if the public doesn't have the tools to distinguish sense from nonsense.

And for me that's one of the reasons why I talk about science, because I think it provides

us one of the key tools to do that.

One things seems very clear to me: education should not be left to private enterprise anymore

than police or fire or military or in my opinion health because they're fundamental rights

of people.

And in a society that has the financial resources to provide individuals a safe and secure environment,

which is really what government is all about, part of that is to educate young people.

It's a right for every young person in a society, in a modern advanced industrial society, to

receive an education.

And that means not that we can't have the option of private education, but we have to

ensure that students are provided opportunities to become the most productive adults they

can be in a modern complex society.

That by the way doesn't mean treating science and other things as purely information, that's

a mistake.

We used to feel that schools were places that imparted information.

Well, I can get more information in my cell phone now than I could in any school, but

I could also get more misinformation.

What we need to recognize is that science is not just a bunch of facts, but it's a process

for deriving facts and it's a process to tell sense from nonsense.

What we need to provide students nowadays is a filter that they can use to assess all

the information and misinformation they're barraged with so they can become responsible

citizens.

And that filter involves teaching kids how to question.

Questioning is more important than answering it seems to me.

When it comes to school we should teach kids how to question and say let's see how we could

get the answer, let's skeptically ask questions, let's test our ideas, let's search through

many sources.

Now, this should be the basis of any child's education today, that's public or private,

but the government, of course, has to assure that students have at least equal opportunity.

Students are going to achieve differently, but at least have equal opportunity access

to education.

And that means we have to be able to account for all possible private education systems,

some of which are frankly designed to keep students from thinking, to keep students believing

some myth that may have existed a long time ago for fear that understanding how the universe

really works might undermine their faith.

Well doing that is child abuse, because we're withholding literally resources that will

help children become more effective adults.

And so there's a very important role in government to ensure that all kids have equal opportunity

access to the process by which we gain information.

And then as they go out in the outside world they'll get lots of information.

I received a PhD, but I will say even in physics most of what I know now I learned after I

got my PhD.
