Waching daily May 25 2018

hey guys in this video we're gonna talk about a way to help reduce that mental

clutter ie the 5 billion things that are probably running around your head right

now it's journaling and we're gonna talk

about why you should consider journaling some journaling basics and some of the

journaling that we do or we've used through our traumatic brain injury

journey coming up hey guys its Mish and Kim we are raising TBI awareness one

post at a time so most people have heard of journaling or have had some

experience journaling if you've not journal before let's talk about some of

the reasons why you should consider journaling it can be a powerful tool

especially for a TBI survivor like myself for one it keeps my life

organized and the more organized my life is the less brain activity I have to use

another reason is self-awareness when you journal about your dreams or a few

journal about thoughts that are in your head you become a little bit more aware

of life in the bigger picture as far as journaling in regards to health you

become more aware of your body and your overall wellness it can also help

encourage healthy habits for example if your journaling how many glasses of

water you drink every day and you're trying to encourage yourself to drink

more water that's another example journaling also helps solve problems for

me as an architect I carry a sketch journal around to help work out problems

instead of having it sit in my brain I draw them down and work the problem that

way there's also some cool emotional benefits if you've got something that's

on your mind and it's bothering you or eating away at you and you write it down

in a journal that can actually be helpful getting it out of your mind and

releasing some of the tension that might be just built up inside journaling is

such a powerful tool that it has no time barriers your kids your grandkids your

great grandkids are probably going to want to know more about you and if you

have journals no matter what kind of journals they are that sort of gives

them some insight on what their family history was like think about it there

are some noteworthy people out there that have

journals that have impacted the world

now let's talk about a few journaling basics first and foremost you want to

pick a medium now this could be pencil to paper it could be a pencil to

notebook it could be electronic digital it could be your phone it could be your

computer some people do a blog but the point is pick a medium that you are

comfortable working with if you decide to get an app for your phone try to find

something that cross-platform you want to get something that you can

access not only on your phone but you can go to on your computer you also want

to be mindful of things like subscription fees they do have some

really cool apps out there but they do actually ask you to provide a

subscription fee for using their service you may also want to think about the

security level in regards to the data that you're putting out there anything

that you put out on the interwebs could potentially be found so just leat

something to think about the goal is to find a way to make it easy for you and

the message you choose is a personal choice it can be as simple as a small

notebook in your pocket or to be as complex as a digital medium that you

have out on the interwebs we kind of consider this YouTube channel in a sense

a bit of a journal it's a timeline of history right for us basically in an

electronic visual video form some other 101 basics would be try to go for a

regular schedule if your journaling and it's something that you're trying to

find as therapy for yourself our regular schedule is really helpful few minutes a

day depending on the kind of journal that you have you could build a fairly

nice journal over a period of time another tip is to take your time you

know don't shortchange yourself take some time a little me time

write write in your journal and reflect and get those thoughts up let's talk

about some of the journaling that Kim and I do as we've gone through this

tbh a journey the first journal that we'll talk about is our gratitude

journals this is what it is so I like to show it though as you can see that

that's mine the whole point of doing a thankful journal or gratitude journal is

to sort of put life in perspective it helps remind us and Reece enters us to

understand what life is about we wrote one thing a day that we were thankful

for we found that one was sufficient you know so that you know it took it took

two seconds to reflect on one thing that we were thankful for it's nice to go

back and look at you were your gratitude journal hey can you read one of yours

sure randomly like flip to a page and today I'm thankful for my beautiful wife

and daughter I'm thankful for having the opportunity to go on awesome fun trips

such as Walt Disney World here it was written on it was written on March 16

2016 and I wrote so thankful for modern-day

toilets right I mean it puts life right I've been can't be before loved toilets

right there's a quote out there that sort of drives this home and it's by

Oprah Winfrey and it's one of my favorite quotes and it reads be thankful

for what you have you'll end up having more if you concentrate on what you

don't have you'll never have enough and that speaks

volumes to me it is another kind of journal that we utilize is a food

journal and we actually both keep one but for different purposes I've been

using a food diary recently past year to help me locate or determine what's

causing my skin issues I think it's an internal issue so the more I can write

down the more I can have a conversation with my doctor and also with the food

the food jotting down the food is may be some slight reactions and stuff that I

get right now for a food journal I just use my phone I use the note apps on my

phone it's cloud-based so I can

assess it from my phone or my computer for me I use food journaling in a sense

of counting macronutrients because there was a point in time where I was doing a

lot of weightlifting and I needed to know what was going into my body so that

I can lean up and produce muscle it's very well liked than that so wrong I

utilize an app called My Fitness Pal I think that's a pretty popular one I

think a lot of people have heard of that one all right another Journal that I

actually use that Kim didn't use it's something that is called a passion

planner and it's a planner but in a sense it's also a journal because in a

passion planner or in the passion planner that I use and I'll put a link

in the description below it allows you to write down goals goals and dreams and

things that you're trying to manifest for yourself on top of trying to keep

you organized and create healthy habits I actually really love mine this is my

passion planner right here and it's basically just a place for you to write

down everything that you know you may be doing during the week and it also gives

you some opportunities to you know talk about what you want to do with your life

you have a vision board in it and this is something that I really kind of like

because it I can reference it and look back upon it and remind myself what kind

of goals I have for my life and what kind of person I'd like to become

there's a section here that you can reflect on your month it asks you

questions such as you know what did you learn this month what are some

distractions or mental blocks how did I take care of myself

what are some things that I did this month to make myself feel good and so

you get to write all of this down and you can look back on the past couple of

months to see what you've been doing and how you've been taking care of yourself

and how you've been trying to reach your passions and life

that's the passion planner Shawn Wow we've got lots of journals another idea

is a daily diary our daughter actually uses one I don't have a daily I used to

when I was younger I don't have a daily diary because I have all these other

journals that I utilize our daughter actually uses a daily diary and you know

I talk to her a little but a little bit about it and I asked her well why do you

use it and she said it helps me sleep this is her speaking she says I use it

at night before I go to bed I have so many thoughts going into my head you're

going in going on in my head I open up my diary I write it down it's no longer

in my head and I can sleep so it basically clears her mind and that's

sort of what we were mentioning earlier that emotional support of getting stuff

off your chest is depending on to a piece of paper just to release it yeah

I'm sure she's gonna have all kinds of drama she'll get to write about in the

next couple years in that little diary another journal that we use is an idea

journal you know for me creativity be an architect I create all right carry

sketchbooks everywhere for woodworking I carry my a separate sketchbook for any

ideas that I'm thinking of and I have a journal that I use for basically

everything anything creative goes into this little drill right here I have

stuff in here regarding YouTube my life goals

meditation and yoga it's something that I utilize and I write and I write down

my ideas and my thoughts and things that I'm learning and it's something that I

can reference later this is everything in here that's like positive in my life

Reince therming journals also you know being a thermic brainstorming journals

but it's something about writing it down or drawing it out putting it on paper

using your your mind and your body your fingers just get it down on the paper

it's awesome it's a release it's a release now everyone has a story

another form of journaling which is our form of journaling is this YouTube

channel we're journaling our story our thoughts

our ideas on what we think might help other

individuals through this YouTube medium everybody has a story you have a story I

really feel that we all have a way of learning from each other you should

consider sharing your story get all of those thoughts that you have you know

you and all those things that you have so like embedded in your heart that you

could probably share and then share with the world and people can learn from you

it's cathartic doing so helps us get it out of our systems because we live it

every day and we figure is there a way that we can help other people

we journal we share our story you know it's 2018 with social media and

technology at your fingertips it's so easy to go out there and journal in any

kind of format so those are most of what we utilize to journal that's going to be

really interesting doing it it into a video we do a lot of documenting of

everything because of traumatic brain injury in our lives it helps us stay

organized it helps us get our thoughts together because otherwise our thoughts

are just a jumbled mess and I don't think folks it helps us stay focused

that's it that's true focus is so key now there are other journals out there

that we don't use that we could probably use at some point in time but there's

things such as a travel journal where you travel you travel you write about

all of it especially people that travel a lot about me journals you can actually

buy some books out at the bookstore or out online that ask questions to you as

a person filling out the journal to help you understand you you could do a

reading journal especially if you're a bookworm such as my daughter and talk

about your thoughts about all the books that you read family journals are

another one it's an important especially with a young child as they grow up you

know a special day may happen where you know your child starts to walk you have

a journal of when they walked and how you felt about it time is fleeting so

that yeah that's actually a really great way to journal is to journal your family

your experiences with your another journal type is meditation

journal so if you're out there and you meditate on a daily basis probably helps

to jot down how you're feeling and how the meditation helps you throughout your

day and direct your life you have literally journal about anything and

everything early like pizza experience you can even journal is so so much

journaling question of the day what other kind of journals are up there that

we've mentioned five billion if you know of any let us know in the comments

because I'd be really interested in what kind of unique journals are out there

for people on how it has helped yes yep so start encouraging those healthy

habits and overall sense of well-being with a little bit of journaling it's

easy to do and it's easy to start so go for it

it's helped us tremendously to document and journal every little bit of every

little thing when it comes to our life with traumatic brain injury from his

experiences in the hospital I've journaled his medical appointments his

medical journal his journals our life as a family we've journal so and now this

we're journaling here so whether it be just trying to communicate information

or just trying to find information for ourselves journaling is where it's at

y'all y'all got to do it just journal try it out see if it's for you thanks

JUNE TBR (happy pride mah boos) || 2018 - Duration: 7:11.

Let's talk about what I want to read. Hey guys, it's Emily! Today's video is going

to be mine June TBR! In the month of June we have Pride, which I'm so excited

about, so I thought I would focus more on books by/about lgbtqia+ people. I'm

unbelievably excited about a couple of these books that I have had on my

shelves for a while, I just haven't picked up yet. Per uze, this is just

going to be a basic summary of a few books that I want to pick up. I will most

likely pick up more than this, but this is what I'm planning on doing. And the

first book that I have is Amberlough by Laura Elana Donnelly. I am so

unbelievably excited about this! I requested this from the publisher and

they were kind enough to send it my way. I'm so mad that I haven't picked up this

book sooner because it is so 1 million percent up my alley. It's set in a fictional

world, in Amberlough City, but from everything that I have gathered about

this, it's very very inspired by it by Weimar Germany. So the post-world War One,

pre-Nazi government in Germany was known as the Weimar Republic, and the time

in which the Weimar Republic was in power is one of my favorite periods of history

to study, period. I find it so fascinating because before the Nazis came to power

you actually had a very robust queer scene and queer culture and

counterculture just in general in Germany at the time, and I find that so

so fascinating. Before I really knew about it, that was very unexpected, and so

I just wish that people did more with that time period. I'm pretty sure the

show Transparent does like flashbacks to Weimar Germany and the show Babylon

Berlin, which I really like--it's a German show you can watch it on Netflix, it's so so good--is

set in that same period. Because in addition to having a very interesting

robust counterculture going on (and then queer culture was come wrapped up in

that) you also had just wild political things going on. You had communist versus

fascist nationalist versus anarchists, and it's just... It was a time! And so a lot of

this book seems to be inspired by by Weimar Germany. You follow several

different characters who seem to be alternately kind of involved in the

underground queer scene or in the spy scene. That's right, there's spies! This has been

sold as a mix between Cabaret and a spy nove,l and

knowing everything else about the kind of time period that it seems to be

inspired by, I am so unbelievably excited to pick

this up! Next I have The Paying Guests by Sarah Waters. I'm a big fan of Sarah

Waters's book Fingersmith, which is absolutely amazing. I think it's fairly

well known at this point because it is the inspiration for a Korean film The

Handmaiden that got a ton of critical acclaim. To my understanding, all of Sarah

Waters's books are basically historical lesbian erotic thrillers... Basically,

that's what's going on, and I'm pretty sure that's the case with this as well. We

follow several characters in 1922 in London. Mrs. Walter and her daughter

Frances have to take in tenants. They take in a young married couple, and

Frances and the wife of this married couple start to be come quite close and

secrets come out and things happen. And it's "a fever dream of a novel," per the

blurb on the cover. I am so excited! In Fingersmith she builds tension just

so, so, so well. It's eerie and atmospheric, and I am just so excited.

Next I have I'll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson. This is a book that's been

on my shelf for way too long, I feel like it's been years at this point. This

is YA contemporary. You follow a pair of twins, Noah and Jude, and we

follow them when they're 13 and then when they're 16, and I think one of the

twins tells one time period, and then the other tells the other. It is a

coming-of-age story, and I think when we follow them when they're 16 they are not

as close as they used to be, for some reason, though I assume we will come to

find out. I've heard that this is very heavy on metaphors, so I'm going to, you

know, note that when I'm going into this. It won the Printz award and also the

Stonewall Book Award. I also know that another fellow Emily, bookswithEmilyFox,

she loves this, and I don't think she's a huge fan of YA contemporaries in

general, so the fact that she really likes this even though it's not really

her genre of choice, I think, is a big bonus, like a little plus in this book's

favor. Next I have a graphic novel and that's The 100 Nights of Hero by Isabel

Greenberg. This is something I'm so, so, so excited about! I've heard wonderful

things. Tt's been recommended to me-- I just hit myself in the head with it--

it's been recommended to me a couple times, and the premise, to my knowledge is

that a woman and her maid fall in love. The husband basically sells her off or

something to that effect (I obviously don't know because I haven't read the book yet)

to his friend, who then goes to her in the night with the intention of raping

her. However the woman that she is in love with, her maid, distracts this awful,

awful person by telling him a different story every night featuring a female

hero of some kind. So it's kind of a play on A Thousand and One Arabian Nights, but

all of the ladies and also ladies loving ladies, and I am so excited! Next I want

to read The Black Tides of Heaven by JY Yang. This is the first book in the Tensorate

series. It's a little novella. This was released concurrently with The

Red Threads of Fortune, I think is the other book, I'm blanking on the specific

name. I initially thought that they were standalone novellas, but from what I've

seen (aka I looked it up on Goodreads), this is technically book one, so I'm

going to start with this. This is a silkpunk fantasy series. We follow twin

children in this one, I believe, and there is magic and politics and adventure and

all kinds of other stuff. And the other thing that's interesting is that in this

world people aren't assigned gender at birth. So they can choose to confirm

whether they are female, male, neither, whatever they want to do, which i think

is really cool, and so I'm really excited to start this series which I've heard

only amazing things about. Next I have Christadora by Jim Murphy. this is

literary fiction and it comes very highly recommended from Russell over at

Ink and Paper blog. This is, again, literary fiction, and it follows a group

of people living in the Christadora building in lower Manhattan, and it

follows this building and the people who live in it from the 1980s through 2020, I

think, and it looks at how the AIDS epidemic affects all of their lives.

Again, Russell absolutely loves this book, and I

trust his opinion, so I'm really excited to get into this! And lastly I have Six

Months, Three Days, Five Others--I tried to say that so many times, I had to

cut them all out--but anyway this is a short story collection by Charlie Jane

Anders, and it is cute and small and adorable and I love it. Charlie Jane

Anders wrote the novel All the Birds in the Sky, which I really

enjoyed. It is a wild trip of a novel. I'm really excited to dig into some of

her short fiction! All the Birds in the Sky was very much surrealist,

absurdist, silly, but also very deep, fantasy, and so I'm hoping that's what

the vibe of this is as well. So that's it for books that I plan on reading in the

month of June. Obviously I will color in some other books as the month goes on.

Let me know if you've read any of these and what you are planning on reading in

this coming month. Thanks so much for watching! If you like this video, give it

a thumbs up! Hit subscribe to see more my face. You can find me on Twitter

How LOW can you go? Kristina Rihanoff bares boobs in seriously low-cut top

Shes been working hard on the Dance To The Music tour.

But the 40-year-old appeared to take some time out from her busy work schedule to partake in a little retail therapy in London this Wednesday and certainly turned heads in the process.

The Former Strictly Come Dancing star looked sensational in a chic black double-breasted and daringly low-cut suit jacket which teased at her lace bralet underneath whilst her assets were out in full-force.

Seemingly unaware that her ample assets looked as if they may escape at any moment, Kristina chatted away on her phone as she flashed her eye-boggling cleavage.

   .

The screen siren accessorised the outfit with with a pair of simple denim jeans and black pointed heels, which highlighted her toned pins.

She completed the provocative ensemble with some silver hooped earrings and vintage looking shades along with a small black handbag whilst her hair was styled into a tousled down-do.

Blonde bombshell Kristina rose to fame when she joined the cast of Strictly in 2008 and quickly became known for her sexy outfits and killer curves before leaving in 2015.

She famously found love on the show when she was paired with rugby union player Ben Cohen and both split with their former partners soon after.

   .

At the time their relationship came to light, Kristina was branded a home wrecker by fans owing to the fact that Ben was married.

However she managed to brush off the controversy and has since started a family with her sportsman beau.

The duo are parents to one-year-old daughter Mila whom they welcomed in 2016.

   .

Ben is also father to twins from his previous relationship.

Speaking to Hello! about her beau, the buxom babe revealed: Ben's the best dad you can imagine.

I wouldn't be able to do anything without him… We are a family now.

His twins are besotted with Mila.

It's the best thing ever to see.

They love each other so much because they cannot get enough of each other.

For them she's like a life-size doll.

It's amazing to see.  .

Apple Pie Isn't As American As You Think | Food: Now and Then | NowThis - Duration: 3:14.

Pie has been around since Egyptian times.

But it wasn't always as sweet and buttery as the pies we love today.

The original pie crust was several inches thick and made with oats, wheat, rye, and

barley.

It acted as a container or baking pan for the filling.

It was tough because It had to withstand hours of baking.

So it wasn't really meant to be eaten.

Also, pies weren't called pies,

They were called coffins.

You know, the boxes you put dead people in.

But the word actually just means basket or box.

The Greeks invented pie pastry in 1304 BC.

It was made with a flour-water paste.

They wrapped it around meat.

Yep, you heard that right.

Some of the first pies were made with meat.

The Greeks wrapped their meat in pastry to help seal in the flavorful juices of the meat.

Our ancestors weren't afraid to put anything in their pies.

And I mean anything.

The Romans used oysters, mussels, and fish.

Crows were put into pies and their feet were used as handles.

There were even recipes for tortoise pie.

Oh and we can't forget people!

Apparently, hiding living people and birds in pie provided great entertainment in the

1600s.

They called it animated or surprising pies.

Here's how one went down.

At an event for King Charles I, the world's tiniest boy (an 18 inch tall 7-year-old) was

hidden in a crust covered pie and presented to the King and Queen.

Before the queen cut the crust, it began to rise and out popped the tiny boy dressed in

armour.

Oh man, I wish I was around to see that.

You're probably wondering how the cherished American apple pie came about.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the recipe came from England somewhere in the 15th century.

But it wasn't sweet at all, since sugar was pretty scarce during that time.

England also claims they invented the first cherry pie for Queen Elizabeth I.

In 1620, pie was brought to America by the pilgrims.

Apple wasn't popular right away.

And pumpkin pie didn't appear in a cookbook until 1675, 54 years after the first Thanksgiving.

But we did start to see more fruit filling because the new world had plenty of wild berries

and fruit.

But pies still weren't sweet.

The colonists saw pie as a way to make the most of their ingredients.

By the 1700s pie was served with every meal in America, and not just for dessert.

George Washington's favorite pie had a sweetbread filling, you know, organ meat.

Pies finally started getting sweet in the 1800s.

Sugar went from a scarce resource to being common and cheap.

Because the U.S. started refining sugar at this time.

As America moved West, we started to see vegetable fillings like rhubarb, green tomatoes, and

sweet onions.

People also started eating pie for breakfast, so they could have enough fuel for a long day in the

1900s.

Today, pie has evolved into America's traditional dessert, rotating in dessert cases in pretty

much every diner across the country.

Pumpkin and chocolate are fan favorites, but apple pie has baked its way into Americans'

hearts as a true dessert classic.
