Business Etiquette Rules You Should Know in Japan - Duration: 3:02.
Hi everybody. It's Kanoa again from Gaijin Bank
today I'll be talking about business etiquette
that you must follow when you're in Japan.
Rule #1. Wait before sitting down
When you visit an office, wait until the host tells you to have a seat before you can sit
Rule #2 is sitting arrangement by rank
So the Japanese are usually very concerned about social rank status in business setting.
Depends on the rank in the business and if your guests also... it depends on
where they place you to sit.
The diagrams show the proper place for you to sit
With entrance at the bottom left and the leader of the meeting or shacho in the center.
As you can see there are different rules for different room layouts
But generally, the person with highest status, number 1 is next to the meeting leader.
Rule #3 is taking off your coat before you enter the meeting room.
If you're conducting the meeting or you're entering the meeting in the cold area,
usually in the winter time, it's polite to take your coat off and put it over your arm before entering the room
Rule #4. Learn formal greetings and keigo (polite language)
For example, when you enter the room you say shitsureishimasu,
you say otsukaresamadesu after you finish the meeting or you finish your work.
You say ohayou gozaimasu when you go into the morning and you see everybody first and such like that.
So it's very important Japanese really make on greeting because it shows respect among one another
Rule #5. Get on the elevator in the proper order.
Usually those with higher rank or guests will go in first and leave first
and those with lower rank are in charge of opening, holding the door and pressing what floor to go to.
Rule #6.Knock 3 times and say shitsureishimasu before you enter the room
just to let other person know hey I'm here I'm coming in
Rule #7. The right way of receiving business card.
So you take it with your both hands just like this.
You read what's on the card, make sure they know what you're reading it
and then you politely set it on the table and continue the conversation.
Last but not least Rule #8, you bow until the elevator doors close completely.
You've probably seen this a lot before.
It's because you want that to be the last final impression before your client leaves
and it's a great way to show respect
Ok everybody thanks for watching. This is Kanoa again from Gaijin Bank.
Don't forget to like, subscribe and comment below and I'll see you in the next video.

ONE DAY IN CHIANG MAI by Kitty R. [for ENG turn on subtitles] - Duration: 6:19.
''Sensory overload occurs when one or more of the body's senses experiences over-stimulation from the environment.
Examples of these elements are urbanization, crowding, noise, mass media, technology,
and the explosive growth of information.
Sensory overload can result from the overstimulation of any of the senses.
There are many environmental elements that affect an individual.
There are two different methods to prevent sensory overload: avoidance and setting limits.
The process of avoidance involves creating a more quiet and orderly environment.
This includes keeping the noise to a minimum and reducing the sense of clutter.
To prevent sensory overload, it is important to rest before big events
and focus your attention and energy on one thing at a time.
Setting limits involves restricting the amount of time spent on various activities
and selecting settings to carefully avoid crowds and noise.''
One may also limit interactions with specific people to help prevent sensory overload.

Information Commissioner on how the GDPR will help you to control your personal data - Duration: 2:42.
your personal data matters it matters to you and it really should matter to the
organizations that you choose to share it with from today the 25th of May 2018
you have more control and more rights over your personal data organizations
have more and stronger obligations to look after it better as well and if it
isn't already how well a business or a charity or a service provider looks
after your personal information might be something you think a bit more about
when choosing to take your business from one organization to another today a new
law comes into effect and it builds on current data protection laws which we've
had in the UK since 1998 the new law is called the general data protection
regulation which means that now more than ever
organizations must put your personal data right at the heart of what they do
almost everything we do keeping in touch with friends on social media shopping
online exercising driving even watching television leaves a digital trail of
personal data we know that sharing our data safely and efficiently can make our
lives easier but that digital trail is valuable so it's important that it stays
safe and is only used in ways that you would expect and that you can control as
the UK's data protection regulator I'm here to make sure that organisations do
look after your data properly and from today my office has much stronger powers
to help us do this if you would like to know more we have today launched a
public awareness raising campaign called your data matters you can find
out more about it here and this includes your data rights wwic org UK

Stop Wasting Your Time in High School - Duration: 4:29.
Do you love high school?
Are you completely engaged there?
Does it feel like an important and meaningful use of your time?
Wonderful, great!
This video is not for you.
This video is for everyone who feels bored, disconnected and frustrated by high school
For those who think...
Why am I sitting here waiting around while my teacher solves discipline issues?
Why am I wasting my time on these lectures and problem sets
when I could be learning this stuff more efficiently on my own?
Why does all this learning have to happen in a fixed period of time?
Why can't I slow down and savor the stuff that's really interesting
and then speed through the stuff that's not that meaningful to me?
Maybe you appreciate the fact that there are so many friends
or potential friends around you in high school
but you're constantly in class or doing homework
so you have almost no time to actually hang out with them.
Or maybe you're the kind of person who knows what you want to be doing with your time
and school is simply not compatible with it.
Maybe you want to be working on your art or starting a business or traveling or taking an internship
That's not gonna happen in high school.
Essentially this video is for anyone who's ever thought
high school is wasting my time and there must be a better way.
*exclamation of alarm*
Is this big enough?
[Uh, no]
Uggh!
Here's the good news
there's a better way!
You can stop going to high school tomorrow if you want
and start learning and living in a way that doesn't bore you to tears
[affirmative nod]
Here in the United States
there are so many legal and affordable and legitimate options
for existing outside of traditional high school
Outside of the United States, there's not so many options, but, uh...
How do I say this in a positive way?
Outside of the United States
there's not as many options
but there's probably still more than you've heard of
so keep watching
If you want to stick with the standard high school curriculum you can join an online school
There are both public and private options
and you can go as fast or as slow through the material as you want.
There are the traditional alternatives: Montessori and Waldorf
Sometimes they don't have many options at the high school level
but there might be one in your area
There are democratic free schools like the Sudbury Valley School or Agile Learning Centers
which are all over the United States
and in these places you have the freedom to do whatever you want!
They offer classes and workshops and mentorship
and you're free to say no to all of it and just go play Minecraft
and when you get bored of playing Minecraft
there are all these options waiting for you.
Become a homeschooler!
Homeschooling is free and legal in all 50 states
and you don't have to become this traditional, stereotypical "school at home" homeschooler
You can become a *badass* homeschooler
Check out my video on the topic right here
Becoming a badass home schooler looks a lot like becoming an unschooler
Unschoolers figure out what their interests and passions and hobbies are
and then pursue those full-time
It's like full-time self-directed learning
Homeschooling and unschooling doesn't have to be a lonely pursuit either
There's an increasing number of teen self-directed learning centers popping up across the United States
Check out North Star and the Liberated Learners network
These are essentially like democratic free schools
where you have options, you have classes and workshops and mentors
but none of it is formally required
And finally, you can go straight into college
Community college is a great option for 16-year-olds who are ready for real academics
and done with the BS and drama of high school
and the best part is any of these options can lead to four-year college and university!
You're not closing the door to higher education by taking a non-traditional path through high school.
One of my favorite authors
the former schoolteacher John Taylor Gatto
said that for teenagers,
regardless of what you've been told,
the only serious thing you face at this moment is what quests you will choose for yourself.
He also said that bored people become boring people.
So if you find yourself becoming bored and disengaged in high school
then explore your alternatives and when you find one that's a good fit
*do it*
and stop wasting your time in high school.
