Streethockey Ball selber basteln! - Duration: 4:19.

Hi everybody! Today I'm in Eberhardsreuth, also known as E-city, home of the Chiefs street hockey team!

The Drossenfeld Cup is right around the corner,

and I'm going to show you in this video how to make a good street hockey ball for the summer

that doesn't cost much to make, doesn't hurt when you get blasted with a shot,

but that still rolls nicely along the pavement.

It's the ball we use for our street hockey tournament.

Everybody knows the standard street hockey ball: these orange balls.

They're ok to play with, but there's one problem:

If you get pegged with one,

it hurts a ton.

There's also a softer version of the ball,

but they really stick to the pavement, don't slide well.

So we're going to chuck it away,

All you need to build a street hockey ball

is an old tennis ball,

and a wiffle ball.

Normally these balls are used for kids learning to play baseball,

You can get them online, 12 balls for about 6-7 euros,

so really inexpensive.

And now I'm going to cut this old tennis ball into pieces.

Kids, let your parents do this.

And I'm going stuff it in here.

Then, we can compare a regular street hockey ball with a stuffed wiffle ball!

A sharp knife, a tennis ball,

stick it in,

it takes a bit of time,

normally we cut meat,

tennis balls are not quite as easy.

I'm going to need about 10 minutes,

that's just how it is,

So I'm back. In the meantine a few memebers of the Chiefs stopped by,

and we had a cool pick-up game with an old ball from last year.

The tennis ball is all chopped up,

if possible, cut it into thin strips

so that they fit easily through the holes,

and now, I just need a bit of time

to stuff the tennis ball pieces,

one by one,

into the wiffle ball.

So the ball is now ready,

As you can see, I've managed to stuff almost the eintire tennis ball in.

Only a small piece didn't fit in.

For the question: what happens to the tennis ball pieces during play?

Do they fly out of the ball?

Answer: hardly ever.

I'd say maybe every hour, one small piece of tennis ball flies out,

so it's not a big deal.

So now I'm going to compare our street hockey ball with a standard street hockey ball.

First I'm going to stickhandle a bit:

It's ok.

And now our ball.

I'd say it bounces even less than a regular ball.

When you loft it up,

it stays on the ground.

And now, a few shots:

Allright, that it's on how to make your own street hockey ball.

Like I said, I find the ball awesome for playing games,

because the risk of injury is much lower than with a regular street hockey ball,

and you can still do everything else with it.

We use it in the Drossenfeld Cup.
