I had a plumber once you know it was the night it was the night before we were

putting drywall in our house we were redoing a house and he had put in all

the plastic piping you know and I was gonna test the joints steel are supposed

to be glued together with this pipe glue right and I said I told him I had to

test the joints and he said well you don't have to test my joints they never

leak and I thought yeah that's okay how about if I test them so I went up on the

third floor and filled the pipes with water capping them in the basement like

you're supposed to it like half an hour later I had two inches of water in the

basement there were 30 leaking joints that was the night before the drywallers

were supposed to show up so well so he wasn't particularly competent that's the

point of that story but even more so he had put a bunch of the plastic pipe

outside where the drywall would be so it would have been sticking through the

wall so I spent a frenetic night you know sawing through plastic pipe and

reglue in joints so that my home well so that the dryer owners could come in

what's the point if you're gonna be a plumber man be a good plumber because

otherwise all you do is go out there and cause trouble we don't need people to

cause more trouble we need people to solve problems you know and so you can

be a tradesman and you can be to make a lot of money as a trades person it's a

bloody reliable honorable forthright productive way of making a living and

there is a hell of a lot of difference between a working man who knows what

he's doing and one who doesn't both in terms of skill and ethics right and you

work with someone who knows what they're doing it's a bloody pleasure they tell

you what they're gonna do they tell you how much it will cost they go and do it

it works and you pay them perfect everyone's happy and that's what happens

when you have genuine hierarchies of competence and so you till you listen to

these panderers of egalitarian gely egalitarianism and equity and they fail

to recognize completely that there are differences in rank between people it's

not such a terrible thing man maybe you wouldn't be a great lawyer

like it's certainly possible most people aren't but that doesn't mean there isn't

something you could be great at there's lots of hierarchies to attempt to climb

and if you fail in one go try in another but the point is you're still trying to

aim for the top and what the hell are you gonna do if you don't try to aim for

the top you know flap about uselessly and whine about your life it's not

helpful it'll just make you miserable you're not reliable to anyone you can't

help out in a crisis it's like so you tell young people and this is another

message for conservatives like I don't care what you're gonna do but go out

there make something of yourself for God's sake be an honest person and work

and get to the top of whatever it is that you want to get to the top of you

know and and and and then stand up for yourself like a respectable human being

and be a bit of a light on the world instead of a blight you know and you can

tell young people that and they haven't been told that by anyone now and so the

young men are so hungry for that that it's it's painful to watch

they're so relieved when someone finally comes up and says hey you know you you

get your act together a bit discipline yourself see if you can learn to tell

the truth concentrate on something for a year or two you could be a bloody world

beater they think really that's possible wow that would be that would be

interesting that might make life or life worth living it's like yeah it might so

why don't you go do it that's what the damn universities were supposed to be

teaching people they've forgotten that I went to Harvard

a month ago months and a half used to teach there and I talked to a bunch of

students you know what I told them it's not easy to get into Harvard you know

like you're a valedictorian if you're at Harvard and not only are you a

valedictorian you're way better than most people at at least two other things

or you don't get in and so that gets I don't know what the acceptance rate is

like 5% and believe me not everybody applies so it's a very selective school

and so why am I saying that it's like these are high quality kids so I told

them what I just told you it's like here you are at Harvard it's like get

yourself educated man read some books learn to talk learn to think make

yourself into something get the hell out there and make the world that put you

here happy that you were put there in that great institution you know and they

came up to me afterwards and said god I wish someone would have told us that

when we were in our first year it's like Jesus why didn't someone tell them that

for God's sake it's supposed to be the greatest university in the world is it

so difficult to figure that out

you need to know what's playing

To do this most people go on the Internet

Here you can also find a synopsis of the movie

A synopsis is a brief description of the movie

to help you decide

if you want to go see it or not

While looking at the showtimes

Sometimes it's possible to even buy your ticket

before you go to the theater

So, take advantage of that

So now you know what you want to see

where you're going to go

and at what time

When you get to the movie theater

you're probably going to see 2 different lines

One for the concessions

and one for the box office

Where should you go first?

The Box Office

This is where you buy your tickets

Sometimes it's called the ticket office as well

But more commonly known as the box office

Why would they call it a box office?

Well when theaters first started

when they were doing live plays

the theater would have a general standing room area

in the middle

and the wealthy people

would have boxes along the sides

And when these people wanted to get their tickets to go into their box

they would go to the box office

makes sense

When it's your turn to buy the tickets

you're going to need to give them some information

When asking for things

you have a few different options of how to express yourself

Can I have 2 tickets please?

I would like 2 tickets please

Could I get 2 tickets please?

Try to avoid saying

I want

Even if you say "I want 2 tickets, please"

It still sounds a little rude

It sounds like you're demanding something

You're not demanding, you're asking them for something

Therefore, don't use 'I want'

Use one of the previous options

Many theaters now have assigned seats

This means that you choose where you get to sit

and nobody is going to be sitting in your seat

when you get there

So if you buy online

you can usually get an excellent seat

and arrive when the movie starts

and there's your seat just waiting for you

How perfect is that?

After you get your ticket

you need to go to the concession stand

The concession stand is where you get to buy your popcorn

your pop

your nachos, your hot dogs, your candies, your ice cream

Everything you would want, while watching a movie

When does the movie start?

A trailer is like a synopsis

but in visual form

They're showing the main points of the plot of the movie

in hoping that you'll return to watch it later

They're called 'Trailers' because before they used to show them

at the end of the movie

and the verb 'to trail'

means to be behind something

They still call them trailers

even though they don't come after the movie

but they also call them previews or coming attractions

finally

Going to the movies can be a great time

and it's just a good way to spend some time

with friends

family

or even that special girlfriend or boyfriend

Special/Orthopedic Tests for the Hip: Trendelenberg Sign and Single Leg Balance Tests - Duration: 5:50.

This is Brent of the Brookbush Institute in this video we're going over

two very similar tests, we're going to go over the

Trendelenburg sign for gluteus medius weakness and we're also going to go over

the single leg balance test for lateral hip pain, and I guess we could say

abductor pathology. I'm going to have my friend Melissa come out she's going to help

me demonstrate these two tests, and the first thing you'll notice is that she

has her shirt tucked in and tank tops into yoga pants is probably not a great

fashion statement, but we do need to be able to see if somebody's iliac crest

are level. So having somebody with their shirt out over their pants is going to make

it very hard for you to determine whether their pelvis stays level as we

have them stand on one leg. Now once we get their pants in line with their

pelvis and we have a good visual marker with their belt line, all we have to do

is get a posterior view, so I'm going to have Melissa face that way. It is easier

to see pelvis level from a posterior view. I'm then going to get down on one knee

and kneel so that my eyes are level with her pelvis, because if I go from

here and I have her lift one leg and let's say this side dropped a little bit

I probably wouldn't notice right, we keep create a little bit of an optical

illusion here when we're not perfectly level and have a good line-of-sight. So

I'm going to have her lift this leg and a positive Trendelenburg test is

actually really easy to see, what would happen is either as she lifted her

leg or shortly after she lifted her leg, her pelvis would drop and I would get

some drooping to this side, that means this side the leg she's standing on her

gluteus medius isn't strong enough to keep her pelvis level. Now the single leg

balance test is essentially the same test but we're looking for slightly

different signs. I'm going to have her go ahead and lift one leg, we're going to hold

this for 30 seconds and now what I'm really looking for is her concordant

sign that is what was the symptoms she came in to see me for. I would be using

this particular test for something like maybe I think gluteus medius tendonitis,

piriformis tendonitis, greater trochanteric bursitis could be an issue.

If as she's holding this I go hey Melissa how you feeling?

A little bit of pain, and then I ask that follow-up question is this is the pain

you were talking about when you came in? Yeah

then this is a positive single leg balance test. Now keep in mind if Melissa

was let's say an older, you can put your leg down, if Melissa was an older

individual maybe somebody who's a little deconditioned, just standing on one leg

could cause some burning right like that exercise burn like you're working your

gluteus medius. So it is very important that you ask the right follow-up

questions right, were these the symptoms you were talking about when you came in

to see me, we want that concordant sign. The

other thing important to mention is although it's called the single-leg

balance test, Melissa could hold on to something.

Melissa could could put her hand on the table that's right next to you here

maybe if you're in an office, you could give them a foam roll to hold on to if

they needed like the back of a chair, because we're not actually testing

balance we're testing either gluteus medius strength in the case of the

Trendelenburg sign, or whether the work of the hip abductors starts provoking

pain by pulling on a very sensitive gluteus medius tendon. So

it's not actually balance that we're testing in this test, although you could

add I guess a third test to this of do they have a positive Trendelenburg, does

this bring on pain and can they hold it without assistance, that might be a good

functional goal. I'm going to go ahead and have you turn and face the wall. Now just

so you guys can see what I was looking for, I would get level with her pelvis so

I have a good line of sight here. I then would ask her to lift one leg, so

if she all of a sudden were to do this that would be a positive Trendelenburg,

and what you are probably going to see is go ahead and put this leg down, is her

pelvis is going to drop as she lifts her leg. I hope you see how this

is not level and I hope this makes a little bit of sense from a functional

anatomy standpoint. So if she lifts her leg and drops that's pelvis on femur

adduction, which definitely means her gluteus

medius isn't strong enough. Now as far as the single leg balance test of

course I just have her pick up this leg I can hit my stopwatch or look at my

clock on the back wall, have her hold it for 30 seconds be

talking to her, how does this feel? She says it feels fine okay good we're just

going to hold this a little longer, if she needed to hold on to something that's

okay because we're just testing abductor strength. Does she have

piriformis tendonitis, does she have greater trochanteric bursitis, this would

be one positive test that would start getting me to think in that direction.

Thank you Melissa. So there you have it two very similar

tests that tell us slightly different things, but essentially we're looking for

is the gluteus medius weak, is the gluteus medius or abductors contributing

to our hip pathology symptoms. Start practicing these tests, grab a partner,

grab a colleague just go through the motions a couple times before you start

Love What You Do Stamp Set Clean & Simple Card - A Club Project - Duration: 4:22.

hi stamping friends Melissa Kerman here with Melissa's crafting treehouse today

Club project to share with you it's a super simple project I'm using the

layering circles framelits and I've already cut out a piece one in the plain

circle and one in a scallop circle you can see the framelits right there and

i'm also using the love what you do stamp set from the share which you love

sweet that's brand new to the annual catalog and if you're a club member you

will have gotten the die-cut pieces in your kit in the mail and I'm just going

to start with using my memento ink pad I like to use the momento black with my

photopolymer stamps so that my stamps don't get stained so I'm starting with

my sentiment and I would recommend starting with that first just so you can

kind of tuck it in the corner there and then you link up your flower image and

sort of wrap it around the sentiment so after I've stamped my flower I'm going

to use two images to go over each of the flower buds if you will to essentially

color them in but I'm going to stamp the color onto it so I'm gonna be using my

Island indigo ink pad and I'm going to take that background stamp the larger

one of the two and I'm actually stamping it off twice which is going to give me a

really light shade of color to go over the flower and I'm going to do that on

each one of the three flowers now it may be too light depending on how juicy your

ink pad is or how light the color is to stamp it off twice so you kind of have

to gauge that yourself I've actually gone over one of those flowers one more

time with the extra ink to make it a little bit darker and now I'm coming in

with that small smaller image I've stamped it off once and I'm going over

the center of the flower and that just gives me some darker color towards the

center so by using both of those images at different different depths of color

it gives the image the look of more depth and interest so now I'm going to

go ahead and start assembling some of my pieces my focal piece onto the scalloped

edge black piece and then I'm gonna start

stamping on my emerald Envy and I'm going to use first and second ink to

cover the whole surface and just turning my stamp this way in that to kind of get

some variation in that background so they're not all pointed in the same

direction alright so now I'm going to go into basically assembling the card and

there's one little tip I want to make sure to tell you as we go through so I'm

just attaching my pieces and speeding things up so you don't have to watch me

do this on normal speed and for this next piece I've attached the turquoise

piece of cardstock and if you're getting one of these kits in the mail you may

want to in fact wait to attach that turquoise piece you can attach the

Emerald env piece to the turquoise but then you'll see I have that little black

strip right there and I have it cut down to size but in some cases I sent a

longer strip so you would need to size it to the piece of the turquoise before

attaching it so you get a nice clean cut along the edge so you can see mine is

just the right width so now I'm just going and preparing my sentiment piece

and I'm going to go ahead and attach it and then I'm pretty much done thanks so
