Hello friends! My name is Rosi.
And we are here for another episode of...
Casos de la Vida Real
Japan Edition
Oscar and I are going to show you around a little
And you know what...
A lot of people asked us if we could make a video in Spanish
So...
We're going to do our best!
Hi! I'm Oscar!
We are in Shinsaibashi
No!
We're in Namba!
We're in Namba,
but this area is called Dotonbori.
Oh, yeah.
I forgot.
So, we're going to show you a little bit of Dotonbori
There's lots of stores,
a lot of food,
takoyaki
Yes!
So we're going to walk around and show you some of the more famous stuff here.
And for you guys to get to know a little bit of the the city
that we're living in.
Oscar, what's this?
It's Dotonbori bridge!
Ah, really!
And what do you do here?
Take photos with the Glico Man.
Like this.
Ok, what are we going to do now?
We're going to walk by the walkway.
There's always a lot of people there.
So sometimes it's really difficult to walk through.
More so now that it's summer.
There's more people since a lot of them are on holiday and things like that.
Here, what you want to look for is
Starbucks.
If you see Starbucks then you know you're in the right place.
I'm here in front and you can go left or right.
We're going to go to the right.
The first thing you're going to see
Look up!
You'll see a crab!
This is another famous thing here
Because they sell...
What do you think?
Crab!
Let's go see how they make it!
Oscar: Rosi have you tried it?
No! You Oscar?
Oscar: No!
Well, I don't eat crab.
But everyone that comes here takes a picture of the giant crab.
Because, LOOK!
It's so big!
In Japanese, crab is "KANI"
A little Japanese lesson for you guys.
Ok let's keep going.
This is only the beginning
and there's more straight ahead.
Here we are walking and like Oscar said
There are so many people here because it's Sunday.
But, something you'll see a lot of
Is a "Character"?
How do you say "character"?
Well, it's like a symbol of Osaka.
And it's...you won't believe it
maybe you will
but it's something...
It's a guy.
Well that's the Osaka character.
I don't know why. I personally don't like it.
It actually gives me a little bit of the heebie-jeebies.
But you'll see it everywhere.
They have socks,
keychains,
all that good stuff.
And right now we're going to see the real deal.
If you want to see it let's keep going!
Oh yeah, let's go!
Oscar, what do we have here?
It's the famous Takoyaki!
They're like balls...
It's like a pancake.
It has octopus inside
and they make it into a ball,
on top it has sauce
and last they add...
how do you call it?
little fish...
In Japanese it's called "bonito"
but I don't know how to say it in Spanish.
Ok let's go see!
We've only walked like 3 or 5 minutes,
and if you look to your right.
We'll be able to see the famous drumming doll...
doll that's playing the drums?
In Japanese we say "kimochi warui"
It's like it gives you this bad feeling.
I don't know how you would say it...
It's just a feeling I don't like.
Well this is the character.
I've never come to take my picture with him.
Actually, I think this is the first time i've come to see it.
Yeah, well this is the character,
and it never stops drumming.
Day-in, day-out it's always playing.
Let me tell you that when you're passing by at night
it looks really creepy.
Ok. Let's keep going down the same street.
And here we have another famous thing.
that we showed you earlier
when we got here to Namba.
The famous "Glico Man". Can you see it?
So here the people stop
and take a picture in front of it making the same pose.
Why?
I don't know.
But it's something everyone does.
The "Glico Man" is famous because
the Glico company
makes chocolates and candies.
And it's the symbol...
the most famous symbol of the company.
Ok. Well. We learned something new!
Oh. Look, behind me is...
Jankara!
Jankara is...What is it Oscar?
It's the karaoke!
It's my favorite place!
Mine too!
Even though I can't sing, I still love it.
It's a building that has a lot of rooms
and you can sing for one hour,
or six hours,
or all night!
Before, when I didn't live in Osaka
When I didn't live in the city
I would stay at Karaoke all night because I didn't have another place to stay.
And it's something super cheap!
To sing for an hour and charge your phone
it's like $3.00
Or in the summer when you want to escape the heat.
Yeah, it's something that we always do!
Ok here we are walking.
You're going to see...this!
It's Ramen!
What is this Oscar?
It's Ramen!
What's Ramen?
Ramen is....
Rosi: It's like the Maruchan cup of noodles soup!
Oh, yeah! It's the instant noodle soup!
But a lot better!
It's the real stuff!
I don't know if you guys know this,
it's one of the most famous things from Japan.
Some ramen.
Everyone eats it after drinking,
or after going to the club,
dancing.
When you're drunk!
So we ended up turning right at the ramen place.
And we're going to keep going down this street.
It's another popular place here in Dotonbori.
There are more restaurants,
and more things to do.
Let's keep walking.
There aren't too many important things here so...
Ok we were walking down the street and
If you look to your right you'll see an alleyway.
Let's see what we can find.
Here you can see a lot of
Izakaya's.
Which are places where you can drink and eat.
But they're super small.
This alleyway is famous because of its izakayas.
I've actually never gone because it looks too...
expensive.
But yeah they look fun!
Let's see what we can see!
Well Oscar...
What?
I'm hungry.
Me too. Where are we going to go?
Well. You know what? We're in Japan...
Yeah there's sushi,
ramen,
all those things.
But what do you do when you're craving something else.
If you're tired of Japanese food
and want something.
There's a place I love here!
It's called,
El Pancho!
And it's Mexican Food. Want to go?
Yeah! Let's go!
We're going to go to El Pancho and we're going to show you how to get there.
It's like a 10 minute walk
because it's in a different area.
We're in Namba and we need to go to...
Shinsaibashi!
It's super easy to get there!
So let's keep going!
Well we're back!
I don't know if you remember
Behind us is the famous Starbucks.
And when you see Starbucks remember we went to the right.
To get to where the drummer is.
I don't know if that's how you say it...
The guy that's drumming.
If we keep going straight and cross the bridge
we'll go towards Shinsaibashi.
And there are lots of stores on this street.
You can do lots of shopping.
And at the end of the street is where the Mexican restaurant that we're going to show you is.
Alright, let's keep walking!
Like we said it's going to be about 10 minutes,
but it's a covered walkway so it won't be that bad.
The only thing is that there's a lot of people.
Sometimes it's a little difficult to walk.
Ok, we'll see you soon.
At the beginning of this street there's
a guys H&M.
And a girls H&M,
on both sides.
That's how it starts so let's walk straight, straight, straight.
Ok, we're here crossing the light.
You'll see a place called, Pablo.
So when you get to Pablo you'll keep going straight till the end of the road.
Let's go.
Well friends! We're here!
If you guys saw, we went from one H&M to another.
Those are the things you want to see.
We got to the end. Here behind us is the street.
Keep going straight and you'll see a building called
Shinsaibashi Tower.
Here you'll see, El Pancho!
Mexican food!
This is the menu.
And drinks.
We're in front of El Pancho
We have to go up to the 8th floor.
To the 8th floor.
We're waiting for the elevator and then we'll go up!
We're here at the restaurant,
I asked the lady if we could film and she said it was okay.
We come here often because the Mexican food is actually really good.
They have burritos,
tacos,
quesadillas,
What else do they have?
Chimichangas,
fajitas,
enchiladas,
But the most important thing is the....
MARGARITAS!
They're really big!
Right now we ordered some King Size margaritas.
It's happy hour.
They only cost ¥750.
That's about $7.00
Yeah, they're really big.
They're full of alcohol.
I got a quesadilla, like always.
Since the first time I came here
Four years ago.
What did you order?
Here we have...
Well it's Mexican style
But not really...
It's a wrap. Like a burrito.
It doesn't have rice or beans.
It has avocado, lettuce, tomato, something really light.
With your beans,
and my margarita.
It's "tuna" or cactus pear.
Tuna is the name of the cactus fruit.
It's called cactus pear in English.
I don't know how to say it in Japanese.
Ok guys, we're done eating, it was delicious.
In the end, we paid about 3,000 yen.
Which is about 30 dollars
Between the two of us for margaritas and for the food.
So, very cheap and very delicious
Well, we are done, see you later
Let's see where we meet next time
Bye!
