In this video, we're going to talk about how to be effective at cold market prospecting
for your network marketing business.
Hey this is Michelle from Network Marketing Performance where you can find ideas to create
the business and life you love through network marketing.
Depending on your personality and how you naturally connect and influence people, you'll
fall into either one of two categories or be a blend of both when it comes to cold market
prospecting.
You can either be straight forward and ask your prospect for an immediate response about
your business and products.
Or you can build trust and qualify your prospect before you share about your business and products
to them.
Both methods work but the most effective one for you is the one that resonates you most.
The first method by being straight forward and asking, the priority is on speed and numbers.
This typically resonates with someone who is more extroverted.
Possibly a type A personality.
You usually like to get straight to business, straight to the point, and not have to deal
with too much chit chat.
If you feel that people in this day and age are busy, that you don't want to waste any
time, then this is probably the most effective way for you to cold market prospect.
You're high energy, strong willed and are very confident.
The great thing with this method is that you can get results fast.
The only problem is that you don't get to spend enough effort and time into going deep
on the qualification process so your prospect may not be the right fit for network marketing.
The second method by building trust and qualifying, the priority is on connection.
This typically resonates with someone who is more introverted.
Someone who is conscientious.
If you value connection and trust, this is most likely the effective way for you to cold
market prospect.
You are compassionate and empathetic of others.
The great thing with this method is that you get more qualified, more committed customers
and business partners.
The only problem is that this process takes a bit more time.
It's important that you choose the method that resonates most with you because if you
don't, you'll end up spinning your wheels not getting the results you want.
For example, if you like to be straight forward and get to the point, learning to build trust
and connecting might come off to your prospect as either phoney or not genuine and you won't
be as effective.
The same thing goes the other way around.
If you're better at building relationships yet you're trying to get straight to business.
You might come off inauthentic and perhaps even a jerk because it's not in your personality
to be that way.
Of course, the scenario changes from person to person depending on how you initially connect
with them.
And every now and then you might use the other method and be just as effective but that probably
won't happen every single time.
Whether you like to be straight forward or to build trust and qualify, I'm going to share
with you 3 tips to apply to both methods in order to be effective in cold market prospecting.
1.
Be honest This determines whether your organization
is professional or not.
It's about being honest in your intentions, how you act and how you communicate.
Don't use hype, lie or try to manipulate someone just to trick them into joining your business
or buy from you.
2.
Be knowledgeable You need to know the basics about the industry,
your company, and your products and services.
You need to have a sense of what you're talking about with people.
This doesn't mean you need to fully understand the compensation plan, how network marketing
works, or remember all the ingredients in your products.
You just need to know the basics so when you communicate with your prospect about your
business, you have some credibility that you know what you're talking about.
Don't be ignorance on fire or knowledge on ice.
You'll be much more effective putting knowledge into action.
3.
Be prepared Have your message ready so you know what to
say.
And if you need to, practice your message until it sounds natural for you to say.
And if you think that practicing doesn't make you sound natural, it's because you haven't
practiced enough.
You don't want to be stuttering or be at a loss for words when you're trying to share
your message.
Another point to being prepared is to know what to expect.
Not everyone will do business with you and not everyone will be qualified to.
Those are part of the highs and lows of having your own network marketing business.
So know that there are people that you are meant to serve and there are people that you
aren't meant to serve.
So let go of your expectations and attachments to the outcome.
Whichever method you prefer for cold market prospecting should be the one that resonates
with you most.
Again, both methods work but in order for it to be effective for you, it needs to suit
your personality and your natural way of connecting and influencing others.
