Waching daily Jun 6 2018

hi. I have other nikon flash repairs in english also. SB800 SB900 etc

You can also check them. I will very briefly explain whats going on

because wiriting subs are a pain in the bass:)

the flash fell and the zooming mechanism broke

so I will replace them

while doing them we will have a sneak peak

whats going on inside the flash

Now I will be showing the screw locations for tear down

basically remove every screw you see:))

unfortunately external screws are this fking weird type

Apple style secrews.... Fck you Nikon

need this screw driver to open them

this metal plate and spring always pops out.

so be careful while openin the lids

more screws to open.....

these holes are for capacitor discharge

head need to be tilted down to line the capacitor termianls

with the holes

when there is no subtitles just focus on the video:))))

I will be checking the flash for a while

since its my first time with this lady:)))

be VERY genyle with those copper colored flex cables!!!!!!!

some more screws to tear down the zooming head...

very small retaining rings. Be very careful. you will soooo loooose them..

some more observation....

here i have a replacement tube holder

but the flash tube is dead

so i need to replace it first

easy method for removing the old flash tube:

Remove the metal frame which keeps the front glass in place

Desolder the trigger cable from the flash tube

using pliers break the old flash tube

dont damage the reflective surface

now the tube is all gone

next step is important!!!

Flash tube is going through a very fragile holder.

IT IS SO EASY TO BREAK!!!!

BE VERY GENTLE!!!!

that is the trigger cable which needs de soldering

be gentle!!!!

you need to clean those silicone holders

but i have some already cleaned ones

you are not supposed to touch the bulb

but if you do clean all the finger oil!!!

rest is putting the bulb between the silicone holders

needs some fiddling around . AGAIN BE GENTLE

rest is putting everything back together

soldering screwing etc.....

be careful about the switch. dont bend it

that bluish thing is your thristor. and need to be flush with the heat sink

and this is your heat sink. it is metal

Hope you have any use for this video:)))
