Convert Any 3D Printer To LASER Engraver - Duration: 5:16.

What is up guys, In this tutorial I am gonna show you how to conver any 3d printer

into a powerful 2.5 w laser engraver capable of cutting wood and engraving into almost every material.

So, We are gonna start this project by firstly choosing the right laser module for our needs.

Starting with 500mw laser you will be only able to engrave some shapes into wood, plastic or leather

and you can get that one really cheap for 35 €.

Furthermore, With higher power output lasers you are able to engrave deeper, quicker and also cut some plywood

and that is the reason why I chose a 2.5W laser which is just strong enough to cut 4mm plywood with multiple passes.

And when handling with laser dont forget to put on some safety glasses.

SO, I firtsly detach a fan and extruder and remove the main holder,

so I can drill 2 holes for the screws that are gonna secure a laser to the printer.

All the links of the lasers will be in the description below.

Secondly, we are gonna need 12v to 5v voltage regulator which is necesarray to control the power output of the laser.

3d printer fan port provides 12v at full power but Laser ttl modul only accepts a voltage up to 5v

so that is why we need a voltage step down regulator.

So, after soldering that together, I connect laserd diode, fan, ttl port

and main power input to the smal motherboard that you receive with the laser.

For the main power source I am gonna use this regulated dc power supply

but you can use any 12V power adaptor capable of providin at least 2 amps.

Now lets secure the laser to the main holder with 2 screws.

For best performance I would suggest you also drill some addtional holes for the airflow

but I didn't feel almost any heat generated by the laser so I guess that is not that important.

After that, I connect a 5v regulator to the 12v fan port which is gonna send the command how strong the laser should be during engraving process.

Last thing is to connect the motherboard with the main 12v power input and that it.

Now we can start calibrating the laser by firstly finding the right focus point.

Autohome all axes and try to turn on the fan somewhere from 1-255.

As you can see the laser is turned off at 0 and outputing the maximum power at 255.

Now I would suggest you place a piece of paper on the bed and reduce the power to a minimum

minimum so we can better see if our point is in focus or not.

You can simply adjust that with a small knob on the laser itself.

After you manage to do that, lets hop to the computer and download the needed software for engraving.

Firstly, download an inkscape software and two plugins for laser engraving.

Again, I will put all those links in the description box below.

After installing the inkscape, extract both plugins and copy the content to the written location.

Now, simply open the inkscape and firstly define the workspace of your printer.

After that import your favorite logo and vectorise it by clicking trace bitmat command.

Also, dont forget to resize the image to the final dimensions and place it in the left bottom corner.

So now, the first plugin we are gonna use is the one that are going to fully engrave the whole image on our material.

Choose the right output folder and Set the speed around 1000 and click apply.

The g-code will be generated in the txt file so open it and replace txt ending with .gcode and that is it.

As you can see that method is pretty slow but it can engrave some really nice logos

and also greyscale images but I will cover that up in the next video.

So the second methond is almost the same, you need to set the right engraving speed

and how many passes you want which is very practical if you want to cut some plywood.

I managed to cut balsa wood with only few passes but that is not the most amaizing part.

2.5 w laser is also capable of cutting some 4mm plywood but it takes a bit more time

and much more passes but all in all it is very practical equipment for all tech and diy enthusiasts.

And yea if you are into electronics you would also be able to create your own circuits and many other things

If you have any questions about the build, I would love to answer them and help you with problems that occored during the build process.

Thank you again for watching, lots of cool projects and tutorials are comming up so,

hit that subscribe button and I will see you next week, peace.

5 Must Read Books For STRANGER THINGS Fans with GirlReading | #BookBreak - Duration: 5:44.

Hi guys! I'm Kate from the YouTube channel GirlReading and I've spent the

past year pining for season 2 of Stranger Things to start. Whether or not

you've watched the show you're probably at least somewhat familiar with Stranger

Things but if not, very simply put, it is a Netflix original series that premiered

in 2016 and it is set in a small town in America

and basically follows the disappearance of a young boy and the strange

circumstances in which his mother, the chief of police and his misfit group of

friends have to face in order to get him back. There are secrets and superpowers

and murder alongside family, friendship, love and humor and it is basically a

total emotional rollercoaster. So, if you're like me desperately waiting for the next

series to start or you're watching this having already watched it and you're not

entirely sure what to do with yourself anymore, today I thought I would share

with you some bookish recommendations that hopefully may help to fill that

Stranger Things hole in your heart at least until you inevitably decide to

binge watch it from season 1 all over again. I have a somewhat eclectic mix of

books to recommend today: from young adults to adult to graphic novels but

each recommendation I do have is based off one or more specific element of

Stranger Things so hopefully I'll have something in here that contains an

aspect of the show that you especially love. My first recommendation is based

on the Upside Down, alternate reality aspect of Stranger Things and that is

Dark Matter by Blake Crouch. This follows Jason Desson who is a father, a husband

and a scientist as his world is turned completely upside down as one night,

after a night out Jason is followed home and knocked unconscious. When he is woken

up by a masked stranger, he finds himself in his life, but a life that has

completely changed. He is now a celebrated genius instead of a teacher,

his wife is not his wife and his son was never born. We follow Jason as he tries

to untangle the mess he's found himself in whilst also tried to work out which

of these words is real and trying to get back to the world he once knew.

Dark Matter plays with the idea of an alternate reality in a way that will

totally mess with your mind and make you question and think about everything your

life is and everything it could have been and all the what-ifs of life. It's

basically perfect if you were looking for a more scientific, realistic

explanation of the possibility of alternate universes and the Upside Down.

My next recommendation is one that I genuinely, the entire time I was reading it,

couldn't stop thinking about how perfect it would be for fans of

Stranger Things and that is The Call by Peadar O'Guilin: this is a young adult novel

set in an island that has been cut off from the rest of the world and is

basically a place where at any moment children and teenagers are at risk of

being Called and disappearing into a horrific other world in which they have

to spend the entire day fighting for their lives against the Sidhe who are

essentially these kind of evil fairies and this basically follows a group of

teens at a boarding school where they have been trained to fight to survive in

this ruthless other world, despite the fact that the majority of the people

that do end up being Called are either murdered whilst there or they've returned

extremely injured or mutilated in a multitude of ways. This is bizarre and

creepy and gruesome and surprisingly disturbing for a young adult book and

honestly if this and the show hadn't have been released around the same time,

I would have thought one had inspired the other and that's not because they're

exactly the same but they both do have very similar elements to them. If you

enjoyed the show I'm certain you will love this and if you enjoyed this I'm

also certain that you will really enjoy the show. If the 80s setting and group of

badass kids fighting monsters is what sucked you into Stranger Things then i

110 percent recommend Paper Girls which is a graphic novel, following four 12 year

old paper girls on the morning after Halloween in 1988 when they essentially

encounter an alien invasion. There's time-travel, vanishing

townspeople, spacecrafts, these giant flying dinosaur bird kind of things. The

art style and colors in this are absolutely gorgeous. You're basically

dropped right into the action from the first page. It's incredibly fast paced

plus it is the start of an ongoing series so although you will probably get

through this quite quickly, there are currently three volumes out with more to

come. For those of you looking to read something with magic and elements

similar to Eleven's powers, I have Gilded Cage by Vic James. This is a YA novel

set in a modern-day Britain in which the magic users control everything; from

wealth to power to politics and the people. If you are not one of the magical

elite, the ultimate one-percenters, then you owe them ten years of your service.

If you do those years when you are old, you'll never get through them but if you

do them when you are young, you'll never get over them. This follows two families

that have absolutely nothing in common except that they each have three

children but after one family enters the service of the other, their destinies

begin to entwine. This is another one that is the start of a series so

you'll definitely be able to get your alternate-reality, special power Stranger

Things fix from it for quite a while. For my last Stranger Things inspired

book recommendation, I couldn't not mention IT by Stephen King. It follows a

gang of kids investigating a horrifying force terrorizing their town. It is set

in the 80s. It is dark, it is twisted (even more so than Stranger Things) and I'm

going to be honest, I have not watched nor have I read IT by Stephen King because I

have enough trouble sleeping as it is. I have seen and heard it being compared to

Stranger Things so many times even I can't deny the similarities between the

two stories plus the new movie adaptation has just been released, giving

you even more opportunities to get your Stranger Things fix. So those are the

books that I would most definitely recommend to any Stranger Things fan

looking to fill that Stranger Things void and I really hope that I have

mentioned something that has intrigued you. If so, I would absolutely love to

know which ones. If you happen to have any Stranger Things-inspired

recommendations yourself whether that be graphic novels or books or TV shows or

movies or anything please leave them in the comments because I would very much

appreciate them and I'm sure somebody else would too. Lastly, I wanted to say

thank you so much to Book Break for having me and I hope you're all having

the most wonderful day! Bye :)

Draw My Life | CosmoProf Scholarship | Fall 2017 - Duration: 2:43.

Hi there my name is Catherine and right now my life is pretty exciting because

I've decided to change my career and pursue my passion of becoming a

hairstylist I'm so eager to begin classes at the Aveda Institute in

Houston this November but enrolling was just the first step

down my life-changing journey in 2012 I graduated magna cum laude from the

University of Houston with a bachelor's degree in history and I quickly dove

into a career as a retail manager and even use my degree to become a teacher

but it wasn't until I began working at a craft store Paper Source that I realized

how much I needed creative balance in my work life I've always been an artistic

person from hand embroidering to paper crafting and even enrolling in

continuing education art classes but my favorite has always been expressing

myself through hair makeup and clothes to be able to wear my art and what I

define as beauty through styling my hair and makeup is what gives me the most

confidence and self-assurance there are so many tools you can use to express

your definition of beauty it's my goal to learn these tools at the Aveda

Institute and share with others how to express their definitions of beauty

using me as their creative hair medium by doing this I hope to change the lives

of others by inspiring them to show their confidences through hair because

feeling beautiful inside and out is a life-changing thing after I realized I

was going to make my passion happen I sat down with my loving family and

boyfriend and asked what do you guys think of me going to cosmetology school

to become a hair stylist everyone immediately jumped at the idea saying

it was the perfect fit my boyfriend even joked that I already follow so many hair

stylists on Instagram anyway we then hashed out a plan to make my career

change reality but the only what if was financial aid I already have a college

degree and returning to school for more education after the expenses of

adulthood are already piling up is a really big commitment financially and

let's face it cosmetology school is expensive the scholarship would change

my life by easing the burden of the cost of cosmetology school for someone who has

already invested in post-secondary education not only would it

cover the missing portion of my tuition not covered by student loans but it

would also help my long-term goal of becoming a color correction specialist

and educator it would allow me to save for continuing education classes after I

graduate I'm so excited to begin this career changing journey and start doing

what I've always loved but changing careers isn't always easy

the CosmoProf Scholarship would be the missing puzzle piece to all of my worries

Extreme Adjectives and Idioms to describe fear | Halloween Special English Vocabulary Lesson - Duration: 8:13.

Welcome back to Love English Halloween Special! So, are you ready for some

scary adjectives and some spooky idioms? Shall we? Let's go!

So, who's your friend he looks a

bit scary? This is my husband, Mr. bones I'm lady bones. You don't look like

you've been feeding him. Yes we like to keep on a strict diet or bat and

spiders! So, everybody welcome to our Halloween lesson. So we're going to look

at some scary adjectives for you. So the first one of these is to be scared, which

is a very very common adjective to be scared. You can also say to be afraid.

Same meaning to be scared or to be afraid.OF! And we are afraid of something. So now I'm

afraid of Leila! I think she looks quite scary! I think I look lovely. So in this case

scary is an irregular Ed- ing adjective because normally with Ed and ING

adjectives the thing that we is making us feel the emotion has ing on the end

like for example: I'm bored because the class is boring but in this case it I'm

scared because Leila is scary! NOT scaring! okay yes not scaring!

Exactly, yeah. but we also have some extreme adjectives for you because

scared and afraid they're quite common they're a bit 'meh' What do you think of

those Mr Bones? Meh! so we've got two more extreme adjectives... to be terrified

when something is terrifying or to be petrified when something is petrifying

but remember with extreme adjectives you don't use VERY but you can use

absolutely terrifying, completely, totally but NOT VERY! Yes,

Now as well as adjectives we of

course have lots of idiomatic expressions in English to describe being

scared or feeling scared! That's right!

So, the first one is to be scared out of your pants! ah!

literally in this case meaning you're jumping out of your underwear!

They're still on! it's fine! So, to be scared out of your pants means you jump out of your underwear!

You are so terrified. Hopefully that's never happened to you and I don't really want

to see you see it happen to anyone! So the next one, now when you're very

very scared it can happen that you lose control of

some of your normal bodily functions. That's a very teacher way to explain it! Like going to the

toilet. So we have a lot of expressions in English and American English which

are all about being so scared that you lose control... Now...

this can be called to crap yourself, to crap in to go to the toilet. it's SLANG!

It's important to point out that it's the number two not the number one, yes.

or we can say a brown trouser moment, yeah, not very nice is it? No it's not, that's right!

I hope you've never had a brown trouser moment? I really haven't! I'm happy to say. The worst way to say

this is to say to 'shit' yourself. But you are not going to say that, you're not.

Crap yourself is much better. it's fine. Okay so that's a bit of a vulgar

expression for you. Now as well as saying to scare someone you could say that you

gave them fright! Boo!!! So to give someone a fright is to scare them!

So the next one we have is to jump out of your skin to jump actually out of

your skin you're so afraid now this is an idiom so it doesn't make any sense if

we actually try to look at it and understand it literally it is an idiom

so to jump out of your skin be enough to just be very very afraid and you can't

actually jump out of your skin that's right just trying to express when

someone is terrified that they do you actually jump there start and actually

if somebody gives you a fright like Lena was explaining before you can say that

you made me jump you make me jump yeah that's true have

you made me jump

really okay now this is a nice spooky idiot

we often say when we feel that something is strange you feel uncomfortable you're

a little bit scared maybe but someone's just water

oh now if you don't know what a grave is is the place where you are very then you

have a gravestone those viewing rights if you feel that someone's walk do you

lie in there like that yeah looking that lovely you will so to have someone walk

over your grave feels like summer my grave

yeah it's that feeling of something so that's why if you hit with those stories

where they all the fields are some awards across my grave

so this one is very similar this is where again we feel feels good or people

to sleep we feel freaked out to us I mean right I know yes which means we

feel scared and we can say oh I've just I've just seen something strange in the

room I feel freaked out or I can say sent shivers whichever sensor shiver

down my spine this is your spine the back yesterday to send shivers down your

spine boom quick okay the last one and actually a very common one describing

the sensations and the physical response that we often have to hear you know when

your skin goes all speckly sometimes when you're cold but also when you're

just scared we call them goosebumps referring of

course to the murder yeah it does get up yeah so to have

goosebumps is when your skin is all kind of Moon Kingdom and this is scary as he

is just skinny and bony so to get goosebumps to feel who

supports to express your fear okay everybody that was our Halloween special

and we hope that you feel afraid and you're in the mood for her rude scary

things now that was also our one-year

anniversary probably less

it's been a year do we help you buy each other a present do we maybe anything up

there

okay so if you haven't seen our very first lesson then we'll put the link

above this is from Halloween last year and that was our very first lesson on

learning English that please don't watch that now guys is a little heart too we

hope you all have happy Halloween well actually we don't scare it in this scam

petrify yes / trouble you get freaked out so why don't you tell us what scares

are you using one of the adjectives or idioms below in the comment box on

YouTube that's right to leave a comment and don't forget to subscribe

otherwise we'll come and warn too

How your muscular system works - Emma Bryce - Duration: 4:45.

Each time you take a step,

200 muscles work in unison to lift your foot,

propel it forward,

and set it down.

It's just one of the many thousands of tasks performed by the muscular system.

This network of over 650 muscles covers the body

and is the reason we can blink,

smile,

run,

jump,

and stand upright.

It's even responsible for the heart's dependable thump.

First, what exactly is the muscular system?

It's made up of three main muscle types:

skeletal muscle, which attaches via tendons to our bones,

cardiac muscle, which is only found in the heart,

and smooth muscle, which lines the blood vessels and certain organs,

like the intestine and uterus.

All three types are made up of muscle cells,

also known as fibers, bundled tightly together.

These bundles receive signals from the nervous system

that contract the fibers, which in turn generates force and motion.

This produces almost all the movements we make.

Some of the only parts of the body

whose motions aren't governed by the muscular system

are sperm cells,

the hair-like cilia in our airways,

and certain white blood cells.

Muscle contraction can be split into three main types.

The first two, shortening muscle fibers and lengthening them,

generate opposing forces.

So the biceps will shorten while the triceps will lengthen or relax,

pulling up the arm and making it bend at the elbow.

This allows us to, say, pick up a book,

or if the muscle relationship is reversed, put it down.

This complementary partnership exists throughout the muscular system.

The third type of contraction creates a stabilizing force.

In these cases, the muscle fibers don't change in length,

but instead keep the muscles rigid.

This allows us to grip a mug of coffee or lean against a wall.

It also maintains our posture by holding us upright.

Skeletal muscles form the bulk of the muscular system,

make up about 30-40% of the body's weight,

and generate most of its motion.

Some muscles are familiar to us, like the pectorals and the biceps,

Others may be less so, like the buccinator,

a muscle that attaches your cheek to your teeth,

or the body's tiniest skeletal muscle,

a one-millimeter-long tissue fragment called the stapedius

that's nestled deep inside the ear.

Wherever they occur, skeletal muscles are connected to the somatic nervous system,

which gives us almost complete control over their movements.

This muscle group also contains two types of muscle fibers

to refine our motions even further, slow-twitch and fast-twitch.

Fast-twitch fibers react instantly when triggered

but quickly use up their energy and tire out.

Slow-twitch fibers, on the other hand, are endurance cells.

They react and use energy slowly so they can work for longer periods.

A sprinter will accumulate more fast-twitch muscles in her legs

through continuous practice,

enabling her to quickly, if briefly, pick up the pace,

whereas back muscles contain more slow-twitch muscles

to maintain your posture all day.

Unlike the skeletal muscles, the body's cardiac and smooth muscles

are managed by the autonomic nervous system

beyond our direct control.

That makes your heart thump roughly 3 billion times

over the course of your life,

which supplies the body with blood and oxygen.

Autonomic control also contracts and relaxes smooth muscle

in a rhythmic cycle.

That pumps blood through the smooth internal walls of blood vessels,

enables the intestine to constrict and push food through the digestive system,

and allows the uterus to contract when a person is giving birth.

As muscles work, they also use energy and produce an important byproduct, heat.

In fact, muscle provides about 85% of your warmth,

which the heart and blood vessels then spread evenly across the body

via the blood.

Without that, we couldn't maintain the temperature necessary

for our survival.

The muscular system may be largely invisible to us,

but it leaves its mark on almost everything we do,

whether it's the blink of an eye or a race to the finish line.
