one day Jesus made a very important statement that I believe that is

applicable to every area of our life He said you cannot serve God and money that

means of course that God has to be the priority of our life and I believe as a

leader we need to look at that and apply to every of our life you can't serve

your purpose and your visions and money what did Jesus say He said well one day

you're gonna hate one and love the other or vice versa and you're always going to

be turning and moving with the motivation of the day rather than the

motivation that you set for yourself whereas we must be motivated of course

by our goals and the purposes that God has established

you know the Bible teaches us that we're not supposed to serve money but in reality money is

supposed to serve us Jesus used this illustration in a parable when he was

talking about the fact that we have to understand that oftentimes the world is

more wise in their generation than the children of light and in the specific

parable Jesus was talking about the person used money to buy influence to

gain friends to gain the good rapport of other people and that's a way that we

use money now that we're trying to buy people or trying to pay for their

friendship but it's just showing that through our generosity and our

willingness to share that other people want to join with us and be a part of

what we're doing in this life I've often heard people say that you know money is

the root of all evil well that's not what the Bible says the Bible says the

love of money is the root of all evil so it isn't about money again it's about

motivation it's about priorities as a leader we always have to make sure we

have the right priorities and our priorities can't be that we're serving

money it's been the failure of many people failures literally of

civilizations where either money or the things that money buys becomes the end

pursuit and in the end that's going to bring death God always gives us the way

of life and really the way of success so we've got to choose to go his way

lifetime views of any channel on youtube since youtube has stopped allowing you

to monetize your videos until your channel has 10,000 lifetime views

let's start by choosing one of my favorite channels on the kitchen table

by Simon Newton as you can see once with channel loads each video shows the

number of views and how long ago it was uploaded

if we click on the About tab at the top of the page we can then see in the stats

on the right-hand side the date the channel was started and the total

lifetime views of the channel so when this gets to 10,000 you can start

JESUS SAID 001 - Duration: 4:51.

Hey! Welcome to our first episode of Jesus Said – a new devotional series on everything

Jesus said.

This week, we're looking at the first recorded words of Jesus on earth which are also the

only recorded words of Jesus throughout his childhood. So let's go!

Ok. So let's go back 2023 years to the nation of Israel.

Well… technically the Roman Empire.

They took over, so we've got regions – like Judea, Samaria and Galillee, which are all

governed by the Roman Empire.

Now, the Roman Emperor called for a census

making every man go back to his home town and register.

So Joseph and Mary travel from Nazareth all the way to Galilee, walking more than 40 hours.

Keep in mind, Mary is 39 weeks pregnant about to go into labor any time now

So they get to Bethlehem and on that night, she gives birth.

Birth to Jesus Christ.

Joy to the world the Lord is come!

The greatest day ever.

Now the roman appointed king Herod felt threatened.

Tries to kill Jesus.

They flee to Egypt.

Herod dies after 2 years.

So they go back to Nazareth which is where Jesus spends his childhood and grows up.

When Jesus turns 12, he follows his parents to Jerusalem for the Passover festival, the

biggest Jewish festival.

And as custom they go to the temple, the house of God - to worship and offer sacrifices to

God.

Then they go back home.

But after a day's travel, Mary and Joseph realize Jesus is missing!

And the search began.

Worried sick, they looked everywhere for their son.

After three days they found him in the temple courts, sitting among the teachers,

listening to them and asking them questions.

Everyone who heard him was amazed at his understanding and his answers.

When his parents saw him, they were astonished.

His mother said to him, "Son, why have you treated us like this?

Your father and I have been anxiously searching for you."

"Why were you searching for me?" he asked.

"Didn't you know I had to be in my Father's house?"

But they did not understand what he was

saying to them.

Then he went down to Nazareth with them and was obedient to them.

But his mother treasured all these things in her heart.

And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.

Now just to give you some more information, this short dialogue between Jesus and his

mom serves as a pivotal point.

For one, in a literary sense, this is the moment Jesus becomes the active agent.

Up to this point the story followed other people, like his parents.

They found Jesus.

His parents saw him.

But after Jesus speaks, the story begins to follow him.

Jesus went down and Jesus grew.

Another important thing to notice is that Jesus reminds his mother of who he truly is.

"Your father" in Mary's mind is Joseph.

But Jesus says "my Father" is not Jesus but God.

This is not Jesus trying to dishonor Joseph who's raising him, but it reveals the uncompromised

identity of Jesus, the Son of God.

See, Jesus grew up in this world, just like we did.

His immediate surrounding which usually defines our identity would have made him,

Jesus of Nazareth, son of Joseph the carpenter.

But he knew who he was. His identity was immovably placed in his Father.

How about you?

What defines you?

We are surrounded by so many things that make claim on who we are and that try to define us.

The call of the gospel is for us to turn from the worldly things and as Jesus invites us

into his life, in him, we are given a new identity as children of God.

As we continue to follow the life of Jesus and everything he said, I hope that we'll

learn more about this new identity that Jesus brings to our lives.

So this is what I got from my devotion on this verse.

The beauty of his word is that it's multi-faceted and speaks in so many different ways

to so many different people.
