Waching daily Oct 27 2017

Hi there! I want to take a few minutes to share with you something that I find to

be very important in the nail industry, but also absolutely overlooked, and a lot

of times, you know, goffed at. That is, salon ventilation. And I have to say that,

you know, it took me many years to recognize that I needed to do something

about it, and I needed to do something before the statistics finally roll out.

Where they say, yes, you know, this has potentially, or or been the result of

years of inhaling nail dust. Which I have done, I tell you, how did I you now come

to the realization? Well, the most important thing is, that I don't

want to just meet standards! I want to exceed standards in every area

of my business, and that includes quality, air ventilation in the salon.

I am so proud to say that I'm Three-Zone Protected with Aerovex

Systems,. And what that means is that, first, I am protecting myself in the

breathing zone. I'm protecting my client in that little bubble of space. You can

see it back here. That Aerovex nail source capture unit has been an absolute

godsend for me. And I'll tell you why. I suffered from blepharitis, which is

basically scratchy dry red eyes. Feels like you have sand in them. For a really

long time, before I realized what I had and also realized that one of the

culprits was in fact fine dust... nail dust. And when I started to use the source

capture, all of that, all of my symptoms went away. And I'm so happy that I don't have that red

scratchy eyes anymore. I mean you see their red... because I'm tired, like

really tired. But I don't have that burning. I don't have the redness. I don't

have this scratchy feel, like I have sand in my eyes, because nail dust is settling

on my eyelashes and just building up and getting in there and messing my eyes up.

One of the really phenomenal benefits of actually having one of these nail source

capture units... and you might not think about it, but it actually pulls in

microbes. That means if you're working with people that come in that

have upper respiratory infection... well guess what, it stops right here because

the nail source capture sucks it up. Now those tabletop units, I've tried them, and

I just have to tell you, they're designed for cigarette smoke and to capture some

nail dust. They're not designed to protect you from breathing in the finer

dust particles, not designed to protect you from microbes. People that come

in that are contagious, and so the source capture, I absolutely love it.

And I can't live without it. My zone 2 is right back here. You can see I have The

One That Works. The One That Works room unit air purifier is won consistently

since 2005 nails magazines readers choice awards.

That means that the readership writes in and they say this is what it is that

I like to use. A thousand square feet if you keep it out from the wall in a

central location. And it's not loud, You can hear I have it on. It's absolutely

amazing. And then the third way that I

protect myself is through the outtake of the ventilation inside my building. Now,

I'm on a program where they notify me and tell me when it's time to

change my filter that I put in there. And so that is basically the building zone.

So now I am three zone protected, and it's important to me. This

is something that my clients took notice of, this is something that, when they

walk in the door, they go "Wow! It's really fresh in here! Because it keeps

the air moving. And no one can dictate to me... no building manager, no clients,

nobody can dictate to me if I want to use a chemical that has a strong

vapor. And I like that! I am my own person, and I just don't want to

have to worry about it, and I don't have to anymore. You know, these units...

If you're gonna start out with one, I would say, go with the source capture.

They have package deals. I cannot tell you enough how important it is, and how

much of the difference it's made for me in my business. And I tell ya, I was slow to

come around for a long time. I was slow but

I've been doing nails, 38 years... I don't know... something.... a long time and

The deal is that there is a need for change. Don't wait

until statistics roll out, that say, "Yeah that chronic cough that you've

had all your life is because you've been breathing in stuff that you

don't have to." Basically, the other thing is that the people over at Aerovex are

a family-owned company and they're super friendly! And they're there

to help you out. And they want you to have fresh air. They

want you to use their products because these products, they're

scientifically designed to do what they do. This is not just a fan with a motor.

So my encouragement is that if you really want to up your nail game and you really

want to exceed the standards that are out there, then start thinking about the air quality for yourself and for your clients.

Eleanor McManus: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know | CaCao TV - Duration: 10:13.

Eleanor McManus: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know

One day after five woman accused veteran journalist and political analyst Mark Halperinof continued sexual harassment, a former CNN producer told her story of a similar interaction with him from over a decade ago.

Eleanor McManus, who worked for CNN for about 10 years as a producer, wrote a guest column for the network describing her encounter with Halperin.

She said that she was in college when she first met Halperin, and it took just one meeting for him to attempt to sexually escalate things.

Halperin has since been fired by a majority of the networks he worked and contributed for, and released a statement acknowledging and apologizing for the misconduct.

"During this period, I did pursue relationships with women that I worked with, including some junior to me," Halperin wrote in a statement to CNN. "I now understand from these accounts that my behavior was inappropriate and caused others pain.

For that, I am deeply sorry and I apologize. Under the circumstances, I'm going to take a step back from my day-to-day work while I properly deal with this situation.".

McManus is married and currently works at a public relations firm that she founded. Here's what you need to know about McManus:.

McManus Accused Halperin of Trying to Kiss Her During a Meeting. Journalist Mark Halperin has been accused of sexual misconduct by five women from over a decade ago. CNN welcomed McManus to write a guest column following the sexual harassment allegations against Halperin.

In it, she wrote that she met Halperin, who was working for ABC News at the time, at a campaign event while she was a college student aspiring to be a journalist.

She said that he gave her his contact information and encouraged her to stay in touch. After she graduated from college, she arranged a meeting with Halperin to speak about her career path.

As she entered Halperin's office, McManus said she was prompted to sit on a couch, which seemed like an odd request, she said. Suddenly, things took an uncomfortable twist.

"I stood up to thank him for the meeting, that's when he leaned in, tried to kiss me, and attempted to do a bit more," she wrote.

"I didn't want to offend the man in charge of political programming at ABC News, and I tried to be courteous and apologetic, and practically ran out of the office.

McManus said that at first, she wasn't upset by his actions and instead thought it was something she did that led him on.

She said she told the story to "several people" simply because it irritated her that he'd been getting away with the behavior for so long.

When CNN reported that five women accused Halperin of sexual harassment, she felt prompted to tell her story.

I'm telling my story publicly now because I hope that when this happens again to another young woman, and it will, she will not be so courteous and apologetic.

I'm hoping women today will finally speak out in real-time — when this behavior happens. Women cannot stay silent for fear it will damage their careers, because that only allows the aggressor to continue his behavior with other women.

McManus Worked at CNN From 2000 Until 2010. McManus studied at Brandeis University and received her bachelor's degree in economics and sociology in 1999. According to her LinkedIn profile, McManus started working at CNN in January 2000 as a production assistant.

She worked her way up and soon enough became a senior producer on Larry King Live, where she was responsible for booking and producing politics and news guests for segments.

"I had the most amazing opportunities to work incredible news stories, and even met my husband at CNN," she wrote in her column.

"I loved everything about TV news — the excitement, the ability to be part of breaking a story, the adrenaline, and the camaraderie of the entire news team.

During her time on the show, she was involved in covering the September 11, 2011 attacks, Hurricane Katrina, the 2004 and 2008 presidential elections, unrest in the Middle East and much more.

She won an Emmy and Edward R. Murrow awards in 2001 for her role in the network's September 11 coverage. She also received the 2005 DuPont award for coverage of the tsunami disaster in South Asia.

While she worked at CNN, she attended graduate school at American University and earned her master's degree communication, journalism and public affairs in 2002. McManus Was a Partner at a PR Firm With the Former RNC Chairman.

Former RNC chair Michael Steele appears on SiriusXM's Joe Madison show on Urban View, A Roundtable Of Veteran Journalists, Politicians & Political Commentators, to discuss President Trump's First 100 Days, at SiriusXM DC Performance Space on May 3 in Washington, DC.

After working for CNN, McManus left to become a partner at Davis-Block LLC. , a public relations firm where she helped to "leverage unique and extensive bipartisan networks to provide clients with consulting and communication services in media engagement," her LinkedIn said.

The firm was founded by lobbyist Lanny Davis and former Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele, POLITICO reported.

McManus continued her work with Davis and Steele and founded Purple Nation Solutions, based in Washington D.C. She worked as a senior vice president at the company before it was purchased by LEVICK in March 2014 after two years in the industry.

"We're proudly developing a lobbying approach that focuses on purple, bipartisan solutions — not just knocking on doors and talking to Democrats if you're a Democrat, or Republicans if you're a Republican," Davis told POLITICO.

Following the acquisition, McManus worked as a senior vice president at LEVICK for two years, where she counseled clients on corporate communications, litigation communications, crisis management and more.

Following her work there, she founded Trident DMG, a PR firm. According to her biography on the firm's website, she's fluent in Russian and Spanish.

She Got Married in 2005 in New Jersey to a Former CNN Reporter.

McManus' maiden name is "Spektor," and she got married to Michael Patrick McManus at Knoll Country Club in Parsippany, New Jersey in September 2005, a wedding announcement published in The New York Times said.

The ceremony was Roman Catholic, with Rev. Al Barozzi as the officiant. She was 28-years old when she got married while her husband was 33.

Michael is a graduate of Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia. His father worked in corporate communications for the financial division of the John Hancock Mutual Lifein Boston.

After his tenure with CNN, he became the vice president of corporate communications for Asia Pulp & Paper, one of the largest pulp and paper companies in the world.

HOW YOU'LL BENEFIT FROM THE $15 MINIMUM WAGE! #ONTARIO - Duration: 8:11.

Hello my friends, welcome to the YouTube platform of Blabla Canada!

Today, we will be talking about the minimum wage raise and how...

Oh my god, did you see what happened?!

The Government of Ontario has decided to increase its minimum wage.

Can you just imagine, one second, one second,

how this is going to hurt the majority of small businesses and the economy?

Okay, calm down, calm down, my friend,

just sit down and I will explain to you why this is just a preconceived idea.

What?!

What "what" ?

What "what" ?

What "what" ?

As you said, Ontario has recently decided to increase its minimum wage from

its current level of $ 11.60 today to $ 14 an hour in 2018 to $ 15 an hour in 2019.

And that is way too much! This is a huge burden for small companies!

Okay, okay, okay, I can see that you have the typical argument that business groups have

when it comes to the minimum wage raise.

However, it's a stereotype.

Recent empirical analysis has found that potential job losses remain very, very

small when it comes to the minimum wage raise.

For example, in British Columbia, the CCAP have calculated that a $ 15 minimum wage raise

would only result in less than 1 per cent reduction in the provincial employment rate,

which means that less than 1 percent of the jobs in this province will be gone.

Which means that no, just a tiny minority of small businesses will be forced to fire some people, but not a

great majority of small businesses, as you said.

Oh my God, I did not know that.

It's fine, it's fine, don't worry.

I mean, just get that stereotype out of your mind.

Now, let's come back to the initial topic of this video.

This video seeks to identify who would benefit the most from this change of social progress.

Who would get a raise?

So, looking at the broader picture, it is important to say that this raise will benefit 23% of Ontarians

who are currently working under $ 15 an hour.

To be more accurate, 27% of women and 19% of men will get a raise.

But wait, why is there a greater rate for women?

Because women are more likely to work part-time, they are more likely to take care of their children and their

grandparents or their parents, and then they are more likely to work in low-wage industries.

OOOOOOHHHHHHHH….

Younger Canadians are also being positively affected by this minimum wage.

But what, why?

They have less education, less experience and they are more likely to work part-time while in school.

In fact, 90% of those aged 15 to 19 and 54% aged 20 to 24 will get a raise.

It is a phenomenal policy for young Canadians, why?

Because it will partially solve some issues that they already have, such as the excessively high

housing prices and as well the university and college fees that are so high.

But be careful with these numbers because young teenagers, young Canadians, represent a relatively small

proportion of the people who will get a raise.

In fact, if you see your wage increase due to this raise, you are about as likely

to be a baby boomer as you are to be a teenager.

But, what about the immigrants? Are they benefiting from this raise?

Mhmmm, let me think...

Yes absolutely, a $ 15 minimum wage will have an incredible impact on recent immigrants

who have been here for less than 10 years.

Indeed, over a third would benefit from this new policy.

Some research suggests that Indigenous and racialized workers are also more likely to be working in

low wage industries, which means that they are more likely to get this raise.

Now, let's focus on the types of jobs that Ontarians have and how this can maybe have an impact on

whether or not they will receive a minimum wage raise.

What?

Just listen and you will see.

The majority of Ontarians have a permanent job, but this does not mean that they are full-time jobs.

12% of Ontarians work in non-permanent jobs.

But, there is something very, very interesting when we look at part-time work.

45% of those who are working part-time did not have any choice to work part-time.

They work part-time because they must.

They may need a full-time job, but they simply cannot find any.

Ohhhhh, so I guess this raise will greatly improve the lives of thousands of people who are trying to find

a full-time job and who are experiencing precarious living and working conditions. I guess?

Yes exactly!

But now, let's focus on the three industries that represent 57% of Ontarians who will get a raise.

We have the retail industry, we have the business buildings and other supports

and food and accommodation services.

And I am sure that you have heard from some people that small businesses

represent the greatest proportion of the food and accommodations industries.

And this is again fake news.

Corporate lobbyists have worked so hard to portray these top two industries

for low-wage work as mostly small businesses.

Wait what?!? I am wrong again!

When we look closer at the statistics from the Labour Force Survey for Ontario,

we actually realize that it is big corporations and chain restaurants that represent these top

two industries, and not the local eatery at the corner of your street

or the small mom-and-pop corner stores that you go to for your groceries.

I will give you two numbers.

59% of the workers who would get a raise in these top two industries, so we have retail and food services,

are currently working in companies with more than 500 employees.

And guess what?

Only 17% of those who will see a raise are working in small business.

And guess what again?

Franchises, which represent a common corporate structure for chain restaurants

and fast food establishments, are considered today as small businesses.

Let's put everything into perspective.

Today, a retail, food and accommodation worker who will get a raise will be

3.5 times more likely to be working for a big company rather than a family store.

As we just saw it, it is especially low wage workers who will benefit the most from this minimum wage raise.

When lower households incomes see a sustained rise in their incomes, they will

virtually spend all of it because they were in desperate lack of money.

Most goes to the food, a better healthcare or more education and sometimes, it goes to the rent as well.

But, almost all of this spending stays in the local economy and this is what we call the multiplier effect.

When you boost the minimum wage, you actually boost the economy from the bottom up.

What you need to understand is that the Ontarians who are struggling right now financially will

see a sustained rise in their incomes, will see a few more dollars in

their pockets and will see their living conditions improve.

We are in the 21st century and I think it is very important today to value the hard work of all Ontarians.

Oh, maybe you almost convinced me concerning the minimum wage raise

but I still think that there are negative impacts.

I mean just look at how businesses are replacing their workers with automation,

I mean that is partially due to the minimum wage raise.

Oh yes, but this issue is much more profound than that and actually this is what we call the

robotization of the job market and this is maybe a topic that we will be talking about in the next videos.

If you really like what I blabla about and you think that more people should discover this channel and this video,

please hit that like button and as well share this video on any social media that you want.

That was Blabla Canada, the alternative media by and for the common mortals,

and I will see you in two weeks!
