Jacob Evans: Things Fast Facts You Need to Know | Heavy.com

Jacob Evans went from a lightly recruited high school basketball player to a rookie on the powerhouse Golden State Warriors in just four years.

Following three seasons at the University of Cincinnati, Evans was selected by the two-time defending champions with the 28th overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft.

As a junior, the 6'6", 210-pound wing led the Bearcats in points per game and assists per game, and tied for the team lead in three-pointers made per game in 2017-18.

His Cincinnati squad earned a No.

2 seed in the 2018 NCAA Tournament, but they fell in an upset to No.

7 Nevada in the second round.

"It's kind of like, surreal.

I really can't put words on it," Evans told Cincinnati.com of getting drafted by the Warriors, who feature two former MVPs in Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant, as well as Draymond Green, the 2016-17 Defensive Player of the Year.

"When I got the call I couldn't even say anything.

I was like, man, for real? They're like, yeah, for real.

I'm like, man, thank you.

To have the opportunity to go play for the best team in the NBA, it's just amazing.".

Now that the 21-year-old has made the leap from college to the pros, the Warriors expect Evans to contribute to a team with aspirations for a third consecutive championship.

Here's what you need to know.

Evans Wasn't Even a Top-100 Recruit Coming Out of High School.

   .

The wing from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, was the nation's 134th-ranked college prospect from the class of 2015, according to 247Sports' composite rating system.

Compared to most future NBA players, Evans received little attention from major college programs while he was in high school.

He was playing for an unheralded AAU team when University of Cincinnati associate head coach Larry Davis first saw him play in a gym in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, in 2014.

"I'm looking around and I'm thinking to myself, there should be a lot of [other coaches] here," Davis told NBA.com.

"And I'm glad there's not.".

Evans impressed Davis with his shooting, his ability to defend all three perimeter positions, and his frame.

"Our thing is we try to get kids who are under-recruited, have a little chip on their shoulder, and want to compete and get better," Davis added.

Programs like Auburn and South Carolina finally caught on and started recruiting Evans, but, having already built a relationship Davis, the high schooler accepted a scholarship to Cincinnati.

Evans Attributes His Work Ethic to His Mother.

       .

Evans grew up watching his mother, Theresa Chatman-Evans, work 12-hour shifts as the director of a daycare to support him and his two brothers by herself.

"We never lacked for shoes or clothes or food.

We'd see her go to work in the dark and come home at dark," Evans said of his mother, according to NBA.com.

"That's how hard she worked.

She drilled the value of that into us without ever really talking about it.

She taught us not to settle.".

That mentality paid off, transforming him from an afterthought of a recruit into a first-round draft pick during his three years in college.

"I kind of saw myself as an underdog," Evans added.

"I didn't have the hype behind my name.

From the day I got on campus, the coaches made sure I worked hard every day, as hard as I could, controlling what I can control.

What you put into this game is what you get out.

You can never be a perfect basketball player, and you can never be satisfied.".

Evans Compares Himself to Jimmy Butler.

   .

These days, Jimmy Butler is a superstar with the wattage to demand a trade and draw immediate interest from around the league.

But the wing who played for the Chicago Bulls for six years before suiting up for the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2017-18 wasn't always on track for stardom.

Butler was hardly recruited out of high school before attending Tyler Junior College in Tyler, Texas, where he averaged 18.1 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game as a freshman.

His production finally drew the attention of major college programs, and he accepted a scholarship offer from Marquette.

Following a three-year career there, Butler was the 30th pick in the 2011 NBA Draft.

He then played sparingly his rookie year, averaging just 8.5 minutes per game, before blossoming into a two-way maven.

Because of this trajectory, and Butler's reputation as a hard worker, Evans has cited the four-time All-Star as his NBA comparison on more than one occasion.

"It's definitely Jimmy Butler because he was a late first-round pick and no one really knew much about him," Evans told HoopsHype in June 2018.

"They thought he was going to be either a role player or a defender.

Now a few years down the road, he's an All-Star and one of the best players for a really good team.

He got there off his hard work.

No one is going to just give it to you so he went out there and took it.

I've been working my butt off because I've had the goal of being a really good player in the league.

When the ball gets on the court, that's where I'm going to make my mark.".

The Warriors Believe Evans Will Be Able to Contribute Right Away.

     .

While many rookies need a year or two to break into an NBA rotation, Evans appealed to Golden State because they believe he'll be able to provide valuable minutes this coming season.

"I don't think [Warriors head coach] Steve [Kerr] is going to have any problem putting him out there.

He seems like a hard worker and will get better," said Warriors general manager Bob Myers, according to The Mercury News.

Myers also described Evans as "solid," "serious," and "defensive-minded.".

With four expensive stars in Durant, Curry, Green, and Klay Thompson on the roster, the Warriors are always on the lookout for cheap production, which can often be found late in the draft.

In 2017-18, rookie Jordan Bell proved to be a valuable member of Golden State's rotation.

Like Evans, Bell was an upperclassman and a highly regarded defender selected late in his draft.

Despite averaging just 14.2 minutes per game last season, the 23-year-old big man was third on the Warriors in blocks per contest during their championship campaign.

As Andre Iguodala approaches his 35th birthday, the Warriors hope Evans can similarly provide valuable depth to their wing rotation this season.

Draymond Green Endorsed the Warriors' Selection of Evans.

     .

Green, a three-time All-Star and a 2012 second-round selection, participated in the Warriors' draft process in 2018, watching the team's pre-draft workouts and sitting with members of the front office during the draft.

"He can do whatever he wants, I imagine," Myers told The Mercury News of Green.

Kevin Jackson Fired: Things Fast Facts You Need to Know | Heavy.com - Duration: 9:37.

Kevin Jackson Fired: Things Fast Facts You Need to Know | Heavy.com

Kevin Jackson is the Fox News contributor who was fired on Thursday after putting out a series of bizarre, offensive tweets about Christine Ford and Kavanaugh's other accusers.

Thursday was Jackson's day off, and he apparently used his spare time to live tweet his reactions to the Kavanaugh hearing.

His tweets have been called graphic, insulting, and sexist.

He said that Christine Ford should "stop opening her legs and open a book;" he also said that all liberal women are "skanks." And, finally, Jackson said that Ford looked "hard ridden and put up wet, as we say in the country.".

After reviewing his tweets, Fox News announced Thursday evening that Jackson was no longer going to be working for them.

Here's what you need to know about Kevin Jackson and Fox:.

He Says He's Moving on to Bigger and Better Things.

On Thursday evening, a Fox News spokesperson announced that Jackson had been let go.

"Kevin Jackson has been terminated as a contributor," the spokesperson said.

"His comments on today's hearings were reprehensible and do not reflect the values of FOX News.".

Since then, Jackson's supporters have been sending him supportive messages over social media.

But Jackson says he's not bothered by being let go.

"Thanks for the well-wishes my tweeps, but I'm not on suicide watch from getting fired from @FoxNews.

I'm about to go hit golf balls!" the former Fox contributor tweeted on Friday morning.

He said he's going to focus on finding locations for his movie, Bleeding Blue.

Bleeding Blue is a documentary about heroic police officers; Jackson calls it "the movie Hollywood refuses to make." He said, "the film investigates the ongoing narrative that our police are blood-thirsty villains patrolling our communities with the purpose of exacting an almost vigilante justice against minorities.".

Jackson Spent Friday Morning Squabbling With His Critics on Twitter.

After being fired from Fox, Jackson boasted on Twitter that he was "not on suicide watch" and that instead of brooding about being fired, he was "about to go hit golf balls.

But the disgraced commentator also spent plenty of time tweeting back at his many critics.

In response to one social media user who said he was glad that Jackson had been hired, Jackson fired back, "thanks, Eunuch." You can see that exchange here.

Jackson called another social media user a "walking skank," after that user had called him a "skank" too.

Jackson also took the time to retweet an article criticizing Hawaii's senator Mazie Hirono, here.

Back in December, Jackson Said He Believed There Was an FBI Plot to Kill Trump.

Jackson appeared on the Fox News show "Outnumbered" in December 2017, and floated a theory that members of the FBI may have plotted an assassination attempt against President Trump.

Jackson's theory seemed to take the rest of the Fox commentators by surprise.

The group of five was discussing Peter Strzok, who had been taken off of Mueller's investigation.

"Well, I think they're going to say, is it — what was his intent, right?" Jackson said, referring to Strzok.

"Because that's exactly what FBI Director, former FBI director Comey said when he was letting Hillary Clinton off the hook.

And his intent, regardless of whether it was an assassination attempt or whatever, it was definitely something.".

Harris Faulkner jumped in, saying, "Whoa.

Whoa." But Jackson, undeterred, said, " "When you say, 'we've got to make sure that this guy doesn't get in at all cost,' what does that mean? So I'm saying there's a spectrum of what does it mean, but one thing that we know for sure, is that he was plotting in an election against a candidate, and there's FBI fingerprints all over this.".

You can watch the clip here.

Afterwards, a Fox News spokesperson told Hollywood Reporter that Fox had "addressed" Jackson's comments with him.

Jackson Has Been Calling Christine Ford a 'Party Girl'.

Jackson has repeatedly tweeted articles that he's written calling Christine Ford a "party girl" and claiming that she was a heavy drinker in high school who loved to party.

(Jackson tweeted the same article at least three times, each time adding a slightly different exclamation.

"Dang, party girl!" he wrote once.) The article features a blurry picture of a naked, blond woman passed out on a picnic table with empty bottles all around her.

The headline reads, "Is this Christine Blasey DRUNK at a Party?".

Jackson has also been tweeting a link to an article that says Ford stood by as Democrats "scrubbed" her high school yearbook to try and conceal the fact that she was — in Jackson's words — "a relentless party-goer, and she left it all on the field.

" You can read that article here.

Jackson is the Latest of Many Fox Commentators to be Fired for Offensive Statements.

Fox News has dealt with a number of high-profile firings over the past few years.

The highest-profile is probably Bill O'Reilly, who was let go after he allegedly sent explicit photographs to his female colleagues.

O'Reilly and Fox were reportedly settling harassment suits against the Fox News star for years before he was finally let go.

In September 2017, Eric Bolling, also of The Five, was fired after he allegedly sent photos of male genitalia to his Fox News colleagues.

Also in 2017, Bob Beckel, co-host of Fox News' "The Five," was fired after he apparently made a "racially insensitive remark" about an African American employee.

That employee, who asked to remain nameless, worked in computer technology for Fox.

His lawyer said that the employee went into Beckel's office to a computer, only to have Beckel storm out, "telling our client that he was leaving his office because he was black.".

RECORDS BREAK: Why 'Game of Thrones' Wins Emmy's 2018 | Outstanding Drama Series & MORE - Duration: 3:19.

Hello, Blinkers!

Welcome to Blink Now.

To get more amazing videos, don't forget to subscribe to our channel.

Today we are going to talk about Emmys best drama series awards winner 'Game of Thrones'.

At the Primetime Emmys telecast on September 17 we weren't expecting "Game of Thrones"

to win any of its five categories, but it surprised us twice, and they were pretty big

surprises: it claimed Best Drama Series for the third time and also Best Drama Supporting

Actor for Peter Dinklage for the third time.

That brings the show's total awards for the year to 9 and it's all-time total to 47,

which is by far the most awards for a primetime drama or comedy in a single year.

It's hard to imagine a behemoth like "Game of Thrones" being considered an underdog

anywhere, especially at the Emmys where it earned the most nominations of any program

this year (22), but most of our users thought last year's winner, "The Handmaid's

Tale," would carry its momentum for another year.

However, "Handmaid's" ended up shut out entirely at the telecast, going zero-for-six

while the drama races were divided between "Thrones," "The Americans" (Best Drama

Actor and Best Drama Writing), Away from us.

That is not the best thing for him.

He belongs here.

"The Crown" (Best Drama Actress and Best Drama Directing),

you, you would like to see how Majesty in died with superhuman powers?

and "Westworld" (Best Drama Supporting Actress).

The Drama Series win for "Thrones" was historic.

With three victories in the top race, it is now the most awarded HBO drama in that top

category, breaking its tie with the two-time winner "The Sopranos."

And if it could win this year with such stiff competition, it might already have the advantage

heading into 2019, when it will be competing for its eighth and final season.

A fourth victory would tie the all-time record currently held by four-time winners "Hill

Street Blues," "L.A. Law," "The West Wing" and "Mad Men."

Dinklage made history too.

With his third victory, he tied Aaron Paul("Breaking Bad") as the most awarded actor in the history

of Best Drama Supporting Actor.

Oddly, though, while Emmy voters love Dinklage,

they don't seem to even like any of his co-stars.

After seven seasons Dinklage's three wins are the only three acting awards "Thrones"

has ever won.

Benioff also thanked the Westeros mastermind George R.R. Martin, the author of the books

the series is based on.

"The show could not be without the mad genius of George," Weiss said.

Martin was on stage with the cast and crew.

"A show is only as good as the people who make it and we are blessed and lucky to have

the greatest cast, the greatest crew, the greatest producers," co-creator D.B. Weiss added.

Game of Thrones will return for its final season in 2019.

That's it for this video hope you enjoy it.

And if you did then please give it a thumbs up or leave a comment below.

Hope to see you back soon for more.

See you next time on Blink Now.
