This is a search ad. It's really simple to set up, and allows you to connect your business
with the people making related searches.
Remember our florist example from the last video?
Let's imagine you have lots of flowers to sell, and we know people love flowers.
Your search ads connect them to your flower site. To start running search ads,
you need an AdWords account with an active campaign.
So let's create your first campaign together. Start by clicking the plus button on the campaign's page.
Step 1: Pick 'Search Network' as your campaign type.
This just means you can show ads in Google search results.
Step 2: Give your search ad campaign a goal.
For example, let's start with website traffic.
Go ahead and enter in your business's website.
Step 3: It's time to give your campaign a name.
You might end up running multiple campaigns at one time, so try to be as descriptive as possible.
Step 4: You can show your ads to people interested in your products or services
as they browse sites on the Search and Display Networks. You can choose to run on both networks.
And if you want to run search-only campaigns, you can always change these settings.
Step 5: You can also pick locations where you want your ads to show.
For example, try starting with the United States if your ads and website are only in English.
And if you only want to reach potential customers near your flower shop,
you can narrow your location to a city or region. You can always come back to this later and change it.
Step 6: Choose your target language.
Pick all the languages your potential customers speak and that your website can support.
Let's stick with English for now.
Step 7: Time to pick a bid strategy.
Remember: you'll pay each time someone clicks on your ad.
There are a number of options here.
If your goal is to drive website traffic, a recommended bid strategy is "maximize clicks."
This strategy is all about getting you the most clicks within your campaign's average daily budget.
You can come back here later to try another bid strategy.
Step 8: Enter in your average daily budget.
To figure out your average daily budget, divide what you normally spend per month
by the average number of days in a month. That's roughly 30.4.
You'll see a bunch of other settings like sitelink or call extensions. Ad extensions are important and can help
show your customers additional information in your ads. We'll go into those in later videos.
Step 9: Don't forget to save your campaign!
And that's it. You've created your first campaign. Congratulations!
Now, the onscreen wizard will immediately take you to a page to set up ad groups and pick keywords.
So what are you waiting for? Let's get to it.

How to train your dog to not pull on the leash - Duration: 6:07.
you know what time it is it's 2-minute Thursdays and today I'm going to share
with you three tips which are gonna help you to improve your dogs walking and
help you to get your dog to stop pulling on the leash all that and more coming up
hello dog lover my name is Saro I'm a dog trainer and also coach dog owners
welcome if this is your first time and you want to become an educated dog lover
and have a well-behaved healthy and balanced dog make sure to subscribe to
my channel and hit the bell icon as well so you would be notified as soon as I
post my next video in this video I'm gonna share with you three tips
which are gonna help you to get your dog to stop pulling on the leash
I'm gonna share with you three practical tips that if you start putting it into
action I guarantee you you're gonna see results right away or within few days of
this but it's important to look at it from a realistic point of view so first
tip is for the next few weeks maybe for a month even try not to take your dog to
a dog park I know it's against everything that you know but the dog
park is too much for your dog at the moment if your dog is one of those dogs
who's pulling on leash don't take it to the dog park practice it in your house
in your yard in outside of your building or wherever near or nearby parks where
there are not many people even if you have to get in the car and drive
somewhere that you can find a part that is very quiet there's nobody around
there's no dogs around you may want to go and practice in those kinds of parks
you want to practice the techniques that I'm gonna show you and the idea that I'm
going to share with you in an environment that there's less
distractions around tip number two is that don't go out of the door of your
house until you have about 90% control of your dog and you have a dog who's 90%
calmer than five minutes ago or 10 minutes ago or half an hour ago so what
I mean by this is if you're planning to go for let's say half an hour walk and
your dog is getting excited because he knows that it's going for a walk then
don't open that door until you have a lot of control and calm energy in your
dog so this may take 10 minutes this may take 20 minutes this may take 25 minutes
for your dog to calm down if it takes your dog 25 minutes to calm down you
just go for a 5 minute walk and come back that 25 minutes that you spent to
teach your dog to calm down every day for the next month month and a half is
more important than the walk itself and the third tip that I'm gonna share with
you is very important also and it's another key in controlling and managing
your dogs pulling on the leash this might sound strange to you but I want you to
put it in practice I want you to think of it this way when you're taking your dog
for a walk it's your dog's walk it's not your walk you're not going out for a
walk and you're taking your dog for a walk your dog needs to go for a walk and
you're taking your dog for a walk and you're there to just manage and control
so you have to allow your dog to do whatever it wants I know you're saying
but it's gonna pull it's gonna do this it's gonna do that so this is why you're
practicing for a month month and a half or two months in an environment that is
controlled and managed and there is no distraction so your dog can learn faster
so therefore your dog can start learning what it's supposed to do and how he's
supposed to do so when you take your dog in an environment that there is not much
distractions your dog automatically is going to get into doing what is
naturally do usually they start sniffing around or they will
just stroll they will spend a lot of time in a certain spot for five minutes
maybe they're gonna sniff a spot your job is just to go and let your dog to do
whatever it wants if it wants to smell some spot for ten minutes out of that 30
minutes that you have selected to walk your dog let your dog to sniff ten
minutes in one spot so let your dog do whatever it wants so if you put these
three tips into action starting tomorrow you will see that within a week or two
it will get easier and better and in a month or so your dog is not going to be
pulling as much as it's pulling today you don't need to use treats you don't
need to use tools like shock collars and prong collars any of those aversive
tools you don't need to use force you don't need to use domination in order to
get your dog to walk properly with you is that simple I guarantee you if you
put this into action you will see results and remember if you want to get
information such as this that I shared with you you want to become an educated
dog lover and have a well-behaved well-balanced healthy dog consider
subscribing to my channel and hit the bell icon as well you will get notified as
soon as I post my next video until next time have fun with your dog

The Sleepover Club: Where Are They Now? - Duration: 9:35.
Hey guys, it's Laura and for today's video I'm gonna be telling you where the
sleepover club are now and what they're doing in 2017. So, I used to be obsessed
with the sleepover club and I've seen so many "where are they now" from different
programmes and I never- they never ever talk about the sleepover club. There's
never been any lists about it, and I want to know where they are so I did my own
research and I'm gonna tell you. Okay, so let's start with Frankie. She was like
the main leader person of the sleepover club. She was played by Caitlin Stasey.
This is her back in 2003, when the sleepover club was out, and this is her
now. You might recognize her from the TV show "Reign" which is on Netflix, where she
plays the character Kenna. She also played Rachel Kinski in
Neighbours from 2005 to 2009. I'm probably gonna have to put up counter of how many
times someone from sleepover Club was in "Neighbours" our "Home and Away" because
there's just a lot. She currently lives in LA and apart from acting she
also is a collaborator on a feminist website where different women
participated in interviews talking about the role of women in society and
how being a woman has affected them, and each of the interviews is accompanied by
a naked picture of the person doing the interview. Caitlin did an interview
on the website herself, which included her naked photos and she said part of
the reason for doing that was that she had a fear that her nudes would be
leaked to the media someday so she thought why not put them out there
herself, which is kind of like what SIA did quite recently. She has a public
Twitter and Instagram which are linked below if you'd like to find out more
about her. Next we have Kenny who was the tomboy in the sleepover club. She was
played by Hannah Wang. This is what she looked like back in the sleepover club
days, and this is what she looks like now. She is acted in a few things since the
sleepover club and she was also a host on Rush TV. From what I can gather, she
also did a Bachelor of Arts degree and in one of the more recent things she worked
on in 2017, she was a production assistant in a short called "Her Levels
of Love". Then there is Lindz who is the twin of one of the M&Ms. Lindz was played
by Basia Ahern. This is what she looked like back in
2003, and this is what she looks like now. She's acted in a couple of TV series other than
sleepover club including out of the blue and double trouble. She hasn't seemed to
have acted in anything since 2010. Then there is Fliss, who was the kind of girly
one of the sleepover club. So Fliss was played by Ashley Chisholm. This is what
she looked like back then, and this is what she looks like now. She was in home
and away before the sleepover club, but she hasn't really
acted in that much since she was in a horror movie called submerged in 2011.
And she was also apparently in a TV commercial for McDonald's. Next we have
Rosie, who was sort of the new girl at the sleepover club. She was played by Elisa Taylor. This is what she
looked like back in 2003, and this is what she looks like now. She has been in
tons of things since the sleepover club. She was in neighbours and she's also
currently in the 100, which a lot of you may know her from. According to Twitter,
she now lives in LA. She used to have a YouTube channel where she played
original songs and her brother actually currently has a YouTube channel. She has
a public Instagram and Twitter which I'll link below if you want to find out
more about her. Next we have Matthew who is probably my favourite character in the
sleepover club. I was like in love with him when I was 12. Matthew was played by
Ryan Corr and he has acted in so many really big things since then. By the way,
this is him back then and this is him now. He was in the water diviner with
Russell Crowe in 2014, he was in Hacksaw Ridge with Andrew Garfield in 2016,
which was directed by Mel Gibson so he's worked with like loads of big names. He
was also in blue water high. He was in an episode of Neighbours like most people in
this list. I was actually researching him for like a full day and I found out way
too much.. but I couldn't find out where he lived, like what country he was based
in. No matter what I did, I couldn't find that out so it was
probably a good thing because, my obsession is too real. Oh you little
detective Laura! I'm just looking at my notes. It says here that I thought he was
still based in Australia because he's girlfriends Twitter says she lives there
and they live together, I think but also there's no evidence that she's still his
girlfriend so it's a long thing. He was also a nominee for Cleo's Bachelor of
the Year 2012 and he also got a Best Actor nomination in the 2015 Australia
Academy of Cinema and Television Awards for his role in Holding the Man. Oh, he's
getting all the awards.. and GQ Australia named him breakthrough actor of the year
last November. He is killing it. So that was the love of my life when I was 12.
Next we have Michael. Michael was played by Blake Hampson who isn't really acting
at all anymore. This was him back in the sleepover club days, and this is him now.
Since sleepover club, he was in a TV movie and another show but they were
pretty small roles. I think he's currently living in Utah and I could
probably go into more detail of where.. I literally think I could go find
him and murder him if I wanted, there's too much about him
on the internet. He needs to sort out his privacy settings. From what I can gather,
he's not acting anymore. He's doing like entrepreneurship and management or
something in business. It was a bit confusing because he kind of works in
health care in information technology, but he also does something in
entrepreneurship. So, I'm not really sure what he's doing. He apparently is in a
relationship. He likes hiking and board sports.
I found out way too much about this boy for someone who's not currently in the
public eye. He has an about me page online which tells you more about him
which I can link below. He seems to articulate things really well and seems
really like philosophical or like he really like thinks about deeply about
things. There are more things I know. I'm not gonna tell you all of them because
it's... I don't think he wants as much stuff that I could find about him out on
the internet. So, um, if you're watching this, Blake, like maybe fix your privacy
settings on Facebook and everywhere else. After that we have Marco who is played by
Stefan LaRosa. He was the last member of the M'n'Ms.
This is him back in 2003, and this is him now. I love my notes... they're so funny!
I wrote: "The only thing he was in after the sleepover club was... dun dun dun... I'll give
you a guess. Give a guess now! Write a comment below what do you think he was
in since the sleepover club?
it was Neighbours... it was Neighbours. Yeah, so he was in a 2007
episode of Neighbors where he played Sam Tyler his Facebook page is public but he
hasn't posted since 2015. He still lives in Melbourne.
I'm such a creep.. Just letting you know, this information...
There's no websites that have done things about where the people in the
sleepover club are. I'm like..seem to be the first one to do it, so, I actually
just had to be a complete stalker to find out these things. Then do you
remember Sara and Alana, who were kind of like the Mean Girls who were mean to
the sleepover club. So Sarah was played by Annalise Woods. This is her back in
the sleepover club. I don't think I could find a picture of Sara. She was only in
two things since the sleepover Club. In 2006, where she played small roles. The
girl who played Alana, which is Ashley Brewer, is acting still and she's been in
loads of things. She was in H20: Just Add Water, which a lot of people apparently
were in when I researched, and found that was another thing that a lot of people
were in from sleepover club. She also had a recurring role in Neighbours.
A bit more recently she was in a TV series called The Bold and the Beautiful.
Also, here's a weird fact: She used to share a flat in Melbourne with Margot
Robbie. You know.. the girl who plays Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad. Yeah, so
Alana from sleepover club used to share a flat with Harley Quinn. That's
weird isn't it? I also researched Mr. Biceps, who was their hot teacher,
that everyone liked, and I found out that he doesn't really act anymore but he had
done casting for quite a lot of recent movies. Then we have Ryan Scott. Do you
remember Ryan Scott? This was Fliss' crush, she was obsessed with Ryan Scott.
So Ryan Scott was played by Craig Marriott.. and I'm not gonna lie to you.. I
researched a bit too much into Ryan Scott because I couldn't really find that much
and I needed to find stuff, so I did find some stuff but not a lot. So before the sleepover
Club, Ryan Scott was in the TV show flipper which also starred Jessica Alba.
He's acted in three things since the Sleepover Club and it's so annoying
because I'm trying to get a recent picture of him to show you, but the only
one I could get was from the year after the Sleepover Club, in 2004, when he was
in a movie called Rapid Fear. Then he was in the movie "Nim's Island" and he was also
in H20: Just Add Water, but in both the scenes that he was in, you barely saw
him. So, I'll do like, you can see the pictures of those parts that he was in
but you would literally....like that could be anyone. Then I thought I would
just mentioned the last two which are Calum, who was Fliss' brother in it.
I only researched him a little bit, and I found out that he also played Elliott in
H20. Then there is Molly Tan, Kenny's sister. I just wanted to find out what
she was doing now. Her real name is Hannah Ling but I couldn't find anything about
her..like anything about her other than that she played a role in "The Sleepover Club".
I looked for her on Facebook. I looked for her on LinkedIn. I looked
everywhere. She doesn't seem to exist. She obviously, probably, still does but I
couldn't find anything about her. So that's everything I found out about the
people who used to be in The Sleepover Club. If you're like me and you just
loved the Sleepover Club and you kind of just wondered what are they doing, or are
they still acting? And it's good to know that a lot of them still are and they're
doing like really well in their careers, specifically the guy who played Matthew,
the girl who played Frankie, and the girl who played Rosie are just doing so well.
Who am I missing? I feel like some else was doing really well...
Oh yeah! And Alana. I'm sorry to any of the people who acted in the Sleepover
Club who feel like I might have invaded your privacy to make this video. I tried
not to share too much that I found out because I didn't... like, if any of you
weren't currently acting or it was kind of about your personal life. I didn't
really want to share it. If you liked this video, make sure to give it a big
thumbs up and subscribe to my channel, hit the notification bell to hear when I
make new videos, which is actually every week! And today's Laura's crazy face is.....
So, I will see you next time! Bye!
but he seems pretty cool and he seems really
articulate and smart and like really like deep thinking.. what.. why.. when I say
articulate then I am not articulate any more.

Get Started with Google AdWords: Write Great Text Ads - Duration: 3:17.
So you've picked some keywords from the keyword planner, and you've learned how
campaigns, ad groups, and keywords work together. Remember: a campaign is a set of ad groups,
and an ad group is a set of keywords and ads. To start showing ads for your campaign,
you'll need to write ads that are associated with those keywords.
In this video we'll go over some top tips on creating great ads.
Before we jump in though, let's explore what ads are and how they work with queries and keywords.
If a search query is a question someone asks Google,
think of the search results as the answers to that question.
Then keywords are triggers for your ad to appear amongst those answers.
When someone's search matches a keyword in your ad group, the keywords tell your ad to show.
So when you're writing ads remember to keep them related to the keywords they're grouped with.
For instance: let's say your account has an ad group named 'Flower Bouquet Kit'.
Within that ad group you might have the keyword 'DIY bouquet kit'.
If you do, be sure your ads also mention 'DIY bouquet kit'.
It's best to write at least three ads per ad group. Different messages work with different people.
The more ads you provide, the more likely you'll be able to show the right message.
So let's write an ad together.
Step 1: provide a Final URL.
The Final URL is the actual page someone lands on after they click your ad.
This webpage should be related to the keywords of your ad group,
like say a page on your site with all the DIY kits you offer.
Step 2: Write Headline 1.
The Headline 1 field is the first thing people see in your ad.
Focus on writing the best headline possible,
since this has the most potential to make a big difference in your performance.
Then, try relating this to the ad group's theme and keywords. And why not make it catchy too?
Step 3: Write Headline 2.
Headline 2 is separated by a dash from Headline 1 in the ad.
The best way to show value to someone is to think about their benefits and needs.
You can highlight a benefit like "Free Shipping" or your website's reliability with "Official Site."
Step 4: Provide display paths.
Your ad's Display URL is the webpage address that appears in your ad.
This is an option to further connect your ad to a user's search so that it's not just a totally forgettable collection
of numbers and characters. Use the path fields to give people more information about
where they'll go once they click.
Step 5: Write a description.
Use the description field to tell someone more about your business: why they should do business with you?
Try to stick with one clear message here. If you have more than one thing to say, you can always
create another ad or save that messaging for an ad extension, which we'll talk about later.
Remember: keep what you say in your ad simple.
Once you have keywords and ads, your ads can start showing in Google.
But that's only part of the journey.
Once your ads are live, you'll need to look at your data to see how your ads are meeting your goals,
and how you can do better.
Check out our next video: "Track your goals".

Get Started with Google AdWords: Pick The Right Keywords - Duration: 2:26.
So you've created your first search campaign. So, you've created your first search campaign.
The next step is to set up ad groups, keywords and ads. Let's get started.
Now, a campaign is a collection of ad groups.
"What's that?" we hear you say. An ad group is just a collection of keywords and their ads.
Going back to our flower shop example, you might have a campaign for flowers
and an ad group for each flower type.
In this video we'll show you how to pick the right keywords. But before we jump in,
let's go over what they are and how they work with people's searches.
Let's say someone types a search query into the Google search box and are then shown search results.
Keywords give you the chance to show your ads as part of those answers.
Think of them as words which trigger your ads to appear.
The key is to pick keywords that match searches relevant to your business.
So if someone's search matches some special flowers you're selling, your ad can show.
The easiest way to find keywords related to your business is with the Keyword Planner tool in AdWords.
The on-screen wizard takes you here after you create a new campaign.
Take a look at the get keyword ideas section.
You can also find the keyword planner in Adwords by clicking on the tool icon in the upper right corner.
Start off by telling the keyword planner a little bit about the business:
all the important stuff like your website's URL and that you sell flowers in San Francisco.
Go ahead and enter your website's URL as the landing page.
You can add some keywords too while you're at it.
You'll then see a table of suggested keywords related to your business.
Just add the keyword suggestions by clicking the plus sign to the left of the keyword ideas.
Remember to keep related keywords together in their own ad group.
Finally, all you have to do is name your ad group
and click Save these suggestions to your account.
That's it. You're done. You've added keywords that people can use to search for the things you offer,
namely really nice flowers. And you've learned how campaigns, ad groups and keywords all work together,
which is an important concept.
Remember: a campaign is a collection of ad groups and an ad group is a collection of keywords and ads.
Now it's time to talk about writing the ads associated with those keywords.
Check out our next video: "Write great text ads".

Should You Take a Break or Push Through? - Duration: 7:01.
Okay my fellow entrepreneurs, let's be real. We all do a whole lot of things we
don't feel like doing, am i right? After all, that's what separates the successful
from the people who struggle, you know? We do what we got to do no matter what,
whether we feel like it or like it or not, am i right? Give me a thumbs up if
you know what I'm talking about. But you know what? The truth is sometimes we
actually need to take a break and the question is how do you know the
difference between when you need to just suck it up and push through and when
it's really time to take a break.
Hey there i'm Nafissa Shireen and welcome to Living Forward TV. We help you to
create a thriving business you absolutely love all around your personal
freedom and each week we bring you extra resources that you can download and use
in your business right away so that you can get results faster. You know what's a
total total buzzkill when it comes to freedom? Burnout. So make sure to grab our
download this week because I go over the 10 signs you need to look for that tell
you when it's time to take a break. If you're an entrepreneur then you know
that you're going to have to do things that you don't really want to do.
Sometimes things you don't feel like doing and sometimes it's things you
don't even have the energy to do. It might be things like picking up the
phone, or writing one more email, attending a networking event,
implementing a new technology, and that list can go on and on and on. And you
know what? Too bad if you don't like it, right? I mean if you're committed to your
business if you're gonna do what it takes. You're gonna do what it takes to
succeed, it doesn't matter how unenjoyable it is or how quite frankly
how tired and cranky you are, the truth is usually when you're tired or not
feeling energized it's really just your subconscious mind looking for a way to
rationalize not taking action and you really don't want to let that win.
As Napoleon Hill says in "Think and Grow Rich" it's a burning desire that's the
starting point of all achievement. And when you have a burning desire, that
means you'll do whatever it takes, even if it's uncomfortable or unpleasant, and
you know what else? Sometimes doing what it takes
means you need to listen to your body and you need to take a break. You see,
there is a huge difference between pushing through temporary discomfort and
working past the point of effectiveness and the question is how do you know the
difference? I need to give you a couple of examples. Now if you just can't
stomach another rubber chicken luncheon networking, right, you know where you're
trading business cards and you're hearing one elevator pitch after another,
and you're still trying to go through yours in your head and you're feeling
like tired and drained just thinking about it and you think to yourself: "You
know, I think I'm just gonna stay in tonight"
well that's likely your subconscious mind trying to find a way out for you.
But if you're emotionally exhausted, you're on the verge of tears, and
anything could set you off, and you're just ready to rip someone's head off at
the first sight, then you actually do need a night off. Or maybe you have a
project or campaign coming up and you're tired and crabby and you'd rather read a
book or watch a movie or go out with friends for a drink and so you tell
yourself: "You know what? The break's gonna do me some good"
when you actually know the truth is that the break is just a way to distract
yourself and it will delay you more, that's when you need to really, quite
frankly just suck it up and get it done. But if you're working, just wanting to
get it done but you can't concentrate and tasks are taking three to four times
as long as they should and your mind is wandering all over the place, then that's
a good sign that you need to go to bed. You see when you're no longer effective
and you're making mistakes and a 10-minute task takes hours, it's a
really good indication that your body and your mind needs a break. No matter
how much you love your business you can't keep creating and you cannot be
effective when you're running on empty. Taking space for yourself really gives
you time for reflection and for pause. There's a great article in science daily
and I'm gonna link to it below in the show notes so you can read it and it
shows a lot about how your brain works and it shows how your brain actually
stops registering a sight, sound, or feeling when it's faced with a constant
stimulus. So what does that mean in other words? The longer you work at something,
the more ineffective you become. And if you resist taking a break when you
really really need one, you know because you feel guilty or you think you're on a
roll, it's gonna take you way more time and you're just not gonna deliver the
quality of work that you're capable of. And how long a break you need, I mean it
really depends on you if you've been running on empty for a really really
long time then there's a chance you may need a good few days off. And by time
off I don't mean half working, half doing other things. I mean completely unplugged,
completely away. You see, during periods of intense focus your brain can't
actually process any new ideas or make new connections. It can
only work with what you already have, but when you let your mind wander and relax
you'll find that you have flashes of inspiration that just like pop out of
nowhere. I know for me some of my best ideas will pop into my head when I'm
grooming or spending time with my horse. It's really cool actually and that's
where I do a lot of my thinking. And taking a break also will recharge your
batteries your physical batteries and your energetic levels. You know, the thing
is you may not want to take a whole lot of time off, but if you proactively work
breaks and downtime into your schedule such as a 10-minute break every 90
minutes or no working after 5:00 p.m. or you prioritize physical activity and
moving your body, you'll find that overall you're more relaxed you're more
productive, you're more energized, and you really don't need to take those big
breaks away. But from time to time it's inevitable that a moment will hit you
where you've really gone past the point of effectiveness and being committed to
your business and having a burning desire to make it happen and do what it

Perhaps you were looking for something?
So I noticed that at the time I was only crying
When your voice unexpectedly touches my heart

I wanna be with you in the future I have drew
Now that I am here with you so
I wanna live with you, in the miracle we met together
Thank you, Thank you , I love you

Let's walk on a daily basis until we meet
That small one is the strongest light of the star, that time
I want to keep on watching and staring it with you, that my only motive
I wanna be with you my heart felt sadness
Just don't say anything just let me beside you
I wanna live with you cause I'm your greatest ally

Gratitude Stocking | Creation Station | Lifetree Kids - Duration: 3:38.
Thanks for watching Lifetree Kids!
Hey guys!
Welcome back to Creation Station.
My name's Bethany and today we're going to be making a gratitude stocking.
Let's get started!
This craft is brought to you by Made-By-Me Nativity.
What you'll need is: a ruler, a pen, scissors, red card stock, gratitude slips, and a gift note.
Some people are so busy being busy that they miss out on being grateful.
But today's craft will make them have an instant attitude adjustment.
For the first step, we're going to need your red card stock, your ruler, and your
pen.
The first thing that we're going to draw is our front of our stocking.
The side of it is going to be 7 inches long and then the top of it is going to be 4 inches.
You're going to have to free-hand it to look like a sock.
We want our stocking to stand up big and tall so we're going to create a base that is
23 inches by 3 inches long.
Now it's time to cut so let's get to it!
You may be wondering, "How are we going to make a sock with just one side?"
Here's a trick!
We're going to trace it so it's the perfect size.
Now, you're going to have to grab some tape and get little strips and put it on the long
sides of our rectangle.
Now we're going to wrap our stockings around our big piece of paper.
But this is kinda tricky so we're going to need an adult to help me.
So my adult helper helped me tape it together.
Woah!
Thank you adult helper!
Now that you got it taped together, you can decorate it anyway you want.
With pom-poms, stars, whatever you want!
Now you're going to have to fill your stockings with gratitude slips.
We provide 54 in Made-By-Me Nativity.
One for each week and two for especially hard weeks.
And if you want, you can even add your own!
And the last thing we need to do is make a gift tag.
Today I'm going to be giving mine to my dad.
Now you have the perfect gift to give anyone for Christmas.
For more Christmas ideas, check out Made-By-Me Nativity.
See you next time on Creation Station and don't forget to subscribe!

[S3 | EP1]: "Cracked windshield? We pay you $50 - $200 to fix it!" ...Oh really? - Duration: 3:50.
Hi, i'm Lori, your insurance mythbuster.
I still have problems with that word.
Today we're outside and i'm the "Roving reporter" to discuss something near and dear to your
heart:
Your insurance premiums.
Have you seen these signs around town?
Well you need to know how they're affecting you and the cost of insurance for you and
everyone else in this state.
Now we're going to cut over to our reporter inside with all the information, Cathy.
Hi, i'm Cathy Keene, your inside reporter for J Meyers Insurance Mythbusters.
The story that's been thrown over to me is What harm does it do when we go take our cars
to get our windshields fixed at these places that say "we'll give you $20, $300" i've even
seen "We'll give you a case of steaks if you let us repair your windshield."
The problem with that is most likely what's going to happen
They're not going to eat the cost of that cash or those steaks,
They're going to pass it along to the insurance company.
Maybe the cost to repair the windshield was actually $300 or $350.
They give you $200.
they're going to send a bill to the insurance company for the $550.
The insurance company is going to send back $350 and say that's what's standard in the
industry for that windshield.
The glass company is now going to call their attorney who they probably had all lined up
in the beginning.
Then the attorney is going to sue the insurance company for that additional $200.
The insurance company can either pay the bill and now your claim is inflated by $200, which
is not good.
Or they can choose to fight it, which most of them try to do in the beginning, and when
they fight it, if the attorney can show that they can get any amount of money over the
original payment, maybe even $15 - $20 more, now the insurance company gets to pay that
$15 or $20 more, plus, whatever the attorney's fees are.
$5,000, $7,000, and let me tell you folks, it happens.
I have a client right now that the only claims they ever had is windshield claims.
Most of them were $300 - $400 and when I was looking through the losses, all of a sudden,
there was one, for $7500 and i'm like oh, that's gotta be classified wrong.
So I went back and looked at it and the scenario I gave you is exactly what happened, they
paid the windshield company about $300 or $400, I think it was $400.
Then there was an additional check for $17 to the windshield company because apparently
that's what the attorney was able to prove that they had under-bid or under-paid on that
windshield claim.
Then the other $7,000, whatever change is left, was paid directly to the attorney.
That is not good for any of us.
The insurance companies, just like I said, the windshield companies are not going to
burden that cost of $200 cash they give you.
They're going to have to raise the rates to either A: automatically pay that extra $200
or B: pay the $7,000 extra that they had to pay or they had to fight to try to not pay
the $200.
Everybody's rates are going to go up.
So although it seems simple and it seems great to put that $200 in your pocket or that case
of steaks to go home and grill and you have a nice new windshield, it's really just going
to create higher rates for everybody.
According to Florida law, if you have comp & collision on your vehicle and your windshield
is broken, you're going to get it replaced for free anyhow.
Don't be greedy and try to get more money put in your pocket with these signs that say
"we'll give you cash, we'll give you steaks, we'll give you a massage" I don't know what
they're going to put on the signs, don't do it!
Thanks a lot from the J Meyers Florida- no J Meyers Insurance Mythbusters.
Buh bye.
Dammit!
It was almost perfect.

PeopleWork: How to Promote Safety Positively - Duration: 7:43.
Be positive about your safety program and the way it helps to protect and value your
good people.
On this episode, four ways to promote your safety program positively.
Promote. A scary word for safety people and supervisors.
For the ones who don't understand what it means, it feels disingenuous.
But to promote something is to advance a cause or a program; to support it or to actively
encourage.
So, when you tell your people to be safe, you are promoting safety.
When you pepper your workplace with posters as safety reminders, you are promoting safety.
When you hold a safety meeting, you are promoting safety.
When you recognize good behaviors, you are promoting safety.
And in order to build a solid safety culture, you can't do it without promoting safety.
But how do you ensure that you are doing it positively in a way that doesn't undermine
the safety program?
Here are four key areas to promote your safety program and employee safety and make sure
that you're doing it in a positive way:
Number 1 - Connect with your good people in a meaningful way.
If you want to improve employee commitment to safety and increase employee engagement,
I am going to suggest something radical.
Look up from your phone and come out from behind your desk.
Make eye contact and ask an employee directly about how they are doing today.
Radical idea isn't it?
Yes, we all have work to do. We get that.
But the moment that you take with an employee sends a positive message of caring and value.
When you engage employees one-on-one on a personal level, they feel like you care about
them, and value their contributions.
When that happens, employee commitment and engagement increases.
So, do it.
Do it on purpose.
Do it intentionally.
Connect with your people.
Ask the energetic and engaged employees to help you solve an issue or find a new solution
to a recurring problem.
If you want them to be great team members, connect with them, include them and engage
them.
Engaged employees perform better, specifically in safety.
So, the Number 1 way to promote safety in a positive way is to connect with your people
in a meaningful way.
Then, once you've connected with them, it's time to look at the second way to promote
safety positively by the way. It's in the way that you empathize with them.
How do you get to the point where you articulate safety in a way that aligns with and resonates
with employees?
You put yourself in their shoes.
Pay attention to the things that you respond to positively.
Pay attention to those things that annoy you or those things that feel burdensome.
Notice them all.
Make a mental note each time it happens to you.
Then think about how employees, your good people, probably feel the same way.
If you can't empathize with your people, you will have a hard time connecting with them.
Feel what they feel.
Notice what they notice.
Hear what they hear.
Adjust your management style or supervisory style to connect better.
Before people will buy-in to the safety program, they will first buy-in to the safety person.
People want to feel that you "get" them and can relate to their issues.
Once done, they will let you help them.
The second way to promote safety positively by the way you empathize with employees.
Once you've found a way to see what they see and feel what they feel, you're going to be
much better prepared to get to the third way to promote safety positively: Sell the benefits
of safety.
What does selling the benefits of safety mean?
Well, when you do safety well, there are benefits that employees experience.
Better teamwork.
Lower stress.
Feeling more productive.
More job satisfaction.
Opportunities to advance.
Personal value.
Self-respect.
A sense of accomplishment.
Shared success.
Positive morale.
Motivation to do better.
A feeling that the work matters.
These are all benefits to the employee.
These are what separate their current work today, from the lousy workplaces they may have had
in the past.
When companies go looking for new employees, they don't promote rules and procedures, or
paperwork and LTIs.
They sell the benefits of working there.
A great workplace attracts great employees.
A great safety program delivers benefits for the participants.
Focus on the benefits of doing safety well as the end result.
Use rules, process, procedure, paperwork and reporting as a way to get great results and
achieve the benefits.
The third way to promote safety positively is to sell the benefits of safety.
Then the fourth way is perhaps the toughest: Keep it positive.
That means getting rid of guilting your employees into paying more attention to safety.
Enough of the "there's a family waiting for you at home."
Enough of the gruesome photos and gut-wrenching videos of people being hurt at work.
Enough of the "don't do what I did" injury stories.
These are all ploys and manipulation to try to get you to avoid a loss.
Avoiding a loss is not the same as getting a win.
Especially if you feel a churn in your guts. safety is not supposed to make you scared
or manipulate your compliance.
Safety is supposed to make you confident to make good choices.
Safety should make you feel proud of where you work.
Employees want to feel proud of where they work.
And they want their employer to feel proud of the contribution employees make.
So, be positive about your people.
Be positive about your safety program and the way it helps to protect and value the
good people you have chosen to be a part of this organization.
Keep the discussions focused on moving things forward.
and less about being focused on the mistakes made yesterday.
Learn from the mistakes yes.
But move on, move up, move forward.
Don't relive the whole experience over and over again.
Find a win in safety and build on it.
Rally your team around getting more safety wins instead of avoiding losses.
There's a different mindset between playing to win and playing to avoid a loss.
Ask any sports team.
Engage your people to find positive ways to celebrate their safety successes.
Keep them focused on achieving success.
When you're focused on safety success, the voices of dissent can't find an audience in
a positive workplace.
Keep building positive momentum.
The fourth way to build your safety program is to keep it positive.
Let's review the four ways to promote safety: Connect with your people in a meaningful way.
Empathize with them - pay attention to what they see, hear and feel.
Sell the benefits of safety And, keep it all positive.
So, here's a way to start.
Ask yourself, "What does safety do for me?"
It's a question you should be asking yourself constantly.
It helps you to view safety from the eyes of employees; the very people that you want
to have safe days at work.
When employees understand safety's value and what they get from doing it right, they are
more likely to buy-in.
That shifts your culture in a positive way.
Connect.
Empathize.
Sell the benefits.
And, keep it positive.

Majors in Focus - Pyschological Science and Applied Social Research - Duration: 17:04.
Majors In Focus. Psychological Science and Applied Social Research
Hi everyone! Welcome back to our third majors in focus series. I've been having
a great time learning about these degrees and I'm super excited to be back
with Professor Ginger Wickline to learn about two more of our degrees,
Psychological Science and Applied Social Research.
Thank you I'm so excited to be here today. Hi everybody!
Uhm do you want to tell us about, a little bit about yourself?
Sure, so I've been at Miami for 9 years now. I have a PhD in Clinical Psychology although I do a lot with
getting students involved in the community, working with some of our
groups on campus like our English as a Second Language students. So, I am the
degree coordinator for the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences and I'm
also tenured through the Psychology Department at Oxford. So, I'm in a really
good place to help advise students with deciding what's the best fit for them
and with a Social Research Degree whether that's Applied Social Research or ASO.
Our Psychological Science major which is our Psychology degree that students can
start and finish at our Regional campuses or the Psychology degree. We
have two Psych degrees at Miami, which is a little confusing. That students can
start at the Regionals and finish at Oxford. So, we're happy to be hosting,
talking about two of those degrees that are regionally granted today.
Yeah I am excited too. So, remember if you guys have any questions please comment below. We will
have time to answer them during the video.
We left off with the uhm, how the two majors are different, do you want to pick back back up with that?
Yeah, absolutely. So, I think we're about to look at the Applied Social Research
degree, which is a little bit more interdisciplinary. So, when students do
our Applied Social Research degree they're not only looking at how
individuals do things, but they're looking at how systems do things.
Okay
And figuring out whether a business is working effectively, whether a nonprofit
is meeting the needs of its constituents. So, within the Applied Social Research
degree there's a lot of data, focus behind it. and we do that in psychology
as well, mostly quantitative. The Applied Social Research degree does some numbers
analysis and also some qualitative review, where they're you know, doing
focus groups, asking questions, doing some interviews so, you
see much more of that focus in the interdisciplinary center, and students
are taking a variety of classes in the Applied Social Research degree that
aren't just one discipline. So, they'll take some sociology classes, some
geographical systems classes, black world studies, anthropology, sociology.
Okay
So, they're looking at human behavior from a number of different levels or angles,
instead of just from the level of the individual.
Great, that's so great. Thank you for clearing that, for clarifying that for me.
No problem.
Uhm, so what would pursue a student to uhm, major in Psychological Science?
Well we find that students who are drawn to Psychology tend to come from a couple of
different backgrounds. First, they're trying to understand themselves, their
families, and why they do things, or the people that they know. So, they tend to
have a lot of curiosity about human behavior, and some people don't realize
that Psychological Science and Psychology also can be focused on other
animal species, but we get a lot of students down and focus on why people do things.
yeah
Uhm, I would say another significant portion of those individuals
also want to help people. So, they're driven, they see movies about therapists,
or people who are working with individuals with disorders, or criminal
minds, and they want to find out what makes people act unusually, or abnormally,
and they want to do something to help individuals who are under stress, or have
disorders. So, while only about fifteen or twenty percent of people in Psychology
actually go into the mental health field. I mean helping people who are struggling.
Students tend to come in with that preconception that that is the only
thing you can do with a Psychology degree. and what they don't realize is if you
understand a lot about human behavior, and how we make decisions that
Psychology or Psychological Science is a degree that can lead you into 300
different fields and all be successful. Because, if you want to go into
management you have to know how to get along with people, if you want to go into
law enforcement it's good to know how to get along with people, if you wanted to
go into law or medical school or research. So, there's many different ways
where a background in a Psychological Science degree can help students whether
or not they want to become a Psychologist,
Yes
when they finish their degree.
Oh, I didn't know know that. I love this statistic that you shared with us.
Uhm, so you talked a little bit about the classes in the beginning when you were
talking about the two different majors, uhm can you maybe go into more detail on
what type of classes a Psychological Science major would take?
Certainly, there's a core of four classes that all students have to take. Our psych 111
uhm, which also has a 112 hour added on to it that gets them some experiential
learning. Either practice and research, doing some service learning in the
community, and that's the foundation course that all majors take to expose
them to the wide array of things we study in Psychology. Then we have
students to take Statistics 261 and Psychology 293 and to 94, which are our
statistics and research methods sections. And students do that whether they take
Psychology or Psych Science. Our first two years are actually identical so,
Okay
students, that can that was done on purpose, so students could decide when
they finish whether they want to take their upper-level classes at the
Regionals, Psych Science or in Psychology at Oxford.
Okay
But uhm, all students take
that base of statistics and research methods to understand how to think
better, more critically and how scientists use numbers to answer
questions. So, the data and the numbers are a means to an end.
Both of our degrees focus on science, both of our degrees focus on logic, and
answering good questions. You can't be a Therapist who just says well try this
therapy we don't know if it works or not but
yeah
you need to understand how we
figure out what works, what doesn't what are side effects, what are risks, and
those are the things that statistics and research methods classes help prepare
students to think well. We then have five areas that students have to take courses
in, social, developmental, individual like personality or abnormal, the bio
psychology and then cognitive. Again, thoughts, behaviors, feelings,
social angles to look at all the ways, that things influence what we do.
And then students take upper-level classes either in Psych Science and 300 and
400 level classes that are focused on specific topic areas. or if they're going
to finish at Oxford they take PSY courses. Again upper level classes, where
they get some choice
okay
so they get that breath of
things that interest them a little more.
Yeah, thank you. I like how you talked
about that they're both the same the first two years, and I think that that's
really important for students to be able to decide which path they think will be best for them.
Absolutely, the two most common questions we get is is
Psychological Science more science because it says science in the name,
Yeah
and it's not. We just weren't allowed to have two psychology degrees with the
same name.
Yeah
do the same things. Similarly students worry that if they
come to a Regional degree it's gonna be not as effective or not prepare them for
jobs or graduate school. So, sometimes they're like well but I want that Oxford
degree, it's gonna be that's the only one that can get me into grad school, that is
so totally not true. We have a very good success rate so far with students are
about to graduate in Psych Science with getting accepted into grad school, if
that's where people want to go. We've had very high hit rates or getting people
placed in the field because of at the Regionals we still have small classes
available, but people are really getting to know their professors, getting those
recommendation letters that get them on to their next steps. So, students should
not worry about quality whether they're finishing you at the Regionals our
Oxford, they're both high quality degrees that will prepare them for the next steps.
Yeah that's great. So, what kind of jobs would someone with
a Psychological Science major look for? There are a lot of possibilities some of
it does depend on how much more schooling they want to go to.
Okay
Like if somebody does want to be a counselor in private practice, there's actually
three or four different ways to do that, as a psychologist, as a licensed
professional counselor, as a licensed social worker. So, master's degrees are
going to be required for some things. If they want to go in just into research, if
they want to be in private practice and working with clients, those require more
training, but again there are like 300 degrees that students could do right out
of college with a Psychology degree and if anybody's interested they could
Google Drew Appleby Psych Job,
Okay
and you get into a list of things that one of the Guru's in our field Dr. Appleby has put together that has suggestions
for students. Some of the ones we hear students talk about the most are things
like a child development specialist, they tend to work in daycares and preschool
centers to work with young children. Child Life specialists that tends to
help work with children in hospital settings, to help them calm down and
understand the medical procedures. Substance abuse technician we have quite
a few students right now who are volunteering on the hotline at Sojourner
Recovery Services or doing intakes for them and working towards
their certification as a chemical dependency counselor assistant, which you
can actually do with a high school degree and specified training within
Psychology. And then the associate's degree or bachelor's degree helps
Yes
to move up in that field. Market research department manager, Human
Resources, social and community service managers, literally any job that you can
imagine needing to work and get along with people a background in Psych
Science could help prepare you for it.
Great, so now we're going to shift over
to our second degree that we were going to talk about which is the Applied Social
Research. So, when I think of the word applied I think of a hands-on experience,
so how is the applied Social Research major an applied degree?
That's an excellent question. One of the key things about the Applied Social Research degree
is the requirements have four to six hours of either an internship or
independent study, which we recommend students do in their junior or senior
year after they've got a little bit of experience developed perhaps as a volunteer. It's
one of those degrees that doesn't come quite as straightforward as Psychology
everybody here psychology and thinks they know what it means
Yes
but there's usually a lot more to it. But with Applied Social Research they could use
that understanding about data, and answering questions, and helping
businesses be more effective, and people do what they need to do in a variety of
settings. So, it's really crucial for our majors to get out and have an
independent study or internship with a research center, on a hotline in
partnership with local service providers that are doing work for individuals in
the community to help their quality of life right, and assessing whether that's
working. So, that's one of the key foundations of that Applied Social
Research degree. We actually encourage the same kind of thing in Psychology and
Psychological Science as well.
Okay
And most majors that I know of, employers
aren't looking to hire you if you took a test or read a book on the subject. I
mean imagine hiring a babysitter who said I love kids I took
test once and they got an A on it.
Yeah
They don't care. They care that you've
had experience working with people that you can get along in a team, that you can
solve problems, that you can work independently, you can strategize
when when issues come up, and those are things that the Applied Social Research
degree and the Psych Science degree would help prepare students for.
That's great I think preparing students for whatever they wish to do with their
majors is so important.
Absolutely
So, what type of classes would an Applied
Social Research major take?
Good question. So, we have a couple of foundation
courses there are three classes in Applied Social Research at the 200, 300,
and 400 level that students take so they get background with a variety of data
analytic procedures,
Okay
quantitative things, and computer programs that help
you crunch numbers, qualitative research so you can do focus groups and
interviews. So, those are three core courses. We also require another
statistics class and several sociology classes in research methods. So, it's kind
of a method heavy thing, we want people to be able to go out and answer
questions in a variety of different ways. So those are the things that all Applied
Social Research majors do.
Okay
They then take two classes that help prepare them for a
diverse and global economy. So, they have a host of classes they can take that
help them think about themselves as a person with culture, and how they
interact with culturally different others. So, those classes are in
anthropology, black world studies, geography,
Okay
political science, social
psych, you can pick two from that list, so that they're broadening their horizons
and understanding how they fit in an ever-changing world.
Yes
And then they
take fifteen hours, with nine hours at the three or four hundred levels in a
variety of our social science classes. Again anthropology, black world studies,
computer and information technology, english and technical writing, geography,
psychology sociology, political science,
Hi! Welcome back. We're so sorry that we lost connection with you guys but we're
gonna pick back up with Dr. Wickline and we're going to jump to our next question
with her on Applied Social Research, which is what kind of jobs would someone
with this major look for? The key thing with Applied Social Research in helping
businesses or organizations answer questions, is that there's going to be a
lot of data-driven things the students do. So, some of the areas that we would
see students with this major go into could be individual and Family Services
okay
think about foster care and whether they're taking care of their families or a
institution that works with people with disabilities and are they meeting those
individuals. So, they could help them figure out if they're doing their job effectively.
Social services work, health care and support people had background with a
little bit of medical terminology and took some of our health and information
tech classes, you know combine that with Applied Social Research they'd do well to
do inputting medical records, or looking through medical records to see if
they're effectively working with certain kinds of clients. Market research,
business and industry look all the time for what's selling and how to better
Oh yeah
reach their constituents. So, a lot of our individuals could go into human
resources, into marketing for corporate America and help them be more effective
at distributing their product. Geographic and information sciences, such as one of
the things I think is really cool. If students learn the mapping technology
they could actually help local organizations find out how to better
reach their people or provide the resources. So for example, some of our
Global Information Sciences students last year worked with the Butler County
Board of developmental disabilities, but to put together in the map in our
community. So, parents could know if my child has a disability where can I go
for various kinds of service.
Oh wow.
Where are the churches that have you know ramps
and disability friendly classes, where the medical providers who specialized in
talking and working with disabilities, where the summer camps, where the job
opportunities, where's the employment, where's that helped me grow for young
children. So, that kind of mapping technique can really help a community
know how to make the most of the things already out there.
Yeah, that's awesome.
So, that's one that we
think is really kind of cutting edge and helping students to understand the world were in.
Yeah
So, in lots of these places again whether it's for-profit or nonprofit
there are going to be going into business organization and saying what do
you need to know, how can we help you get that information.
That's great, sounds like there's a lot of different options for students which
is really nice. So, what would you say are the most common misconceptions about
both of these majors? Interesting, I think we've addressed it with Psychological Science,
Yes
Some how students think it's more sciency than the other psychology
major we have in Miami. When both of them focus on that. Students in Psychology
sometimes think it's a lot of art and Criminal Minds and having people lie
down on couches and that's a small part of but we do know we want to help expose
them to the many ways that psychologists help improve our quality of life.
The thing about Applied Social Research is I think students don't sometimes
understand how much analysis is involved in that.
Yes
And they have to normally have
the curiosity, but the willingness to have that rigor and like precision, to
answer questions well.
Okay
So that's one that both of our degrees
take a little bit of detail oriented people, and conscientiousness is good,
curiosity is good. But I'd say that what we find is usually people who don't know
what Applied Social Research tell me what that looks like and then
with Psychology they think they know what it is, and don't realize how much
more there is available to them.
That's great I think that you clarified a lot of those questions
for me today, which was really awesome. So, thank you so much for meeting with me
and answering my questions today.
My pleasure.
Uhm next week we will be back on Tuesday at 11 am with Janet Marshall
to discuss our Forensic Science major.
