How YOU Can Build a Ride or Die Team: AppSumo Exclusive Edition | EP 5.2 - Duration: 12:35.

- Hey, everyone, today we have Ayman Al-Abdullah,

who is the president of AppSumo,

which I've been using for years and years.

We talked about processes earlier, so we got process, goals,

and now I wanna talk about culture too,

and I think there's a big story

around the culture of AppSumo.

I mean, you guys, there's tacos, there's a sumo,

all this kind of stuff.

So what do you guys do from a cultural perspective?

What are some stories you can share

that are you know, pretty amazing?

- Yeah so I mean, for us like we're only at

nine employees right now.

Culture, I think all too often like CEO's are thinking

about like what is the culture of the business?

How can we improve culture?

I know we'll have happy hours and we're gonna do trips,

and we're gonna do all these things.

And they think like by saying those things

that that's going to impose culture.

Ultimate culture is just simply who you hire, right?

And so for us when we're going through the hiring process,

we are looking for people that are like us.

We want people that are super humble, that work hard,

that are super smart, that simply have

a results-oriented attitude, that are very team-oriented.

They don't have, that's not my job, in their vocabulary.

That don't believe in a nine to five work set.

They don't mind coming in at 10, 11 but then also

don't mind working, 10, 11 at night, right?

And so the very first thing, from a culture perspective

is hiring the right people.

If you try ta, you know, shoehorn a square peg

into a circle hole, and they're just not gonna

be a good fit for the team.

And so, before we hire anybody, we make sure we go

to lunch with them, we make sure to bring them in for a day.

Some of them are working two, three weeks with us

before we finally pull the trigger.

That's number one.

Number two is,

also acting like the culture, right?

So like, we got a text last night, 10 o'clock at night,

like "Hey is the site down?"

Two or three people immediately jumped on Slack,

double checked everything, everything was fine,

the site was running a little slow

and we got it back and ramped up.

So just constantly working towards that culture.

And the last thing is like, recognizing

that everybody has a goal and being able to work together

towards that goal, I think is super important

for that team embodiment.

- Got it, makes sense.

How about in terms of team activities, what do you guys,

you've mentioned you know, outings and things like that,

what do you guys do?

- So just two, three months ago, we did a half-yearly trip,

we do two trips a year, to Seattle.

It is a great time for us to just sort of kick back.

- [Eric] Why Seattle?

- So it's the middle of Austin and it's 100 degrees.

It's a great time to get to Seattle, for those

that don't know, Seattle is like the best kept secret

in America in the summer, right?

It's like 70 degrees and sunny for 100 days straight.

There's like sailboats everywhere.

We went out there and we ended up renting two Airbnbs,

one in the woods, we spent a couple days there

just hiking and doing some bonfires, enjoying ourself.

And then we did another three days in the actual city,

where we went out and just partied together.

And you know when you're spending that much time together,

that's really when you get to know someone.

You can be working, and it's like all about work,

but once you get out of the office and you're having

more personal conversations, you're able to bring

that unity back into the office.

So we'll make sure to do another one in December.

- Got it, so I think these team outings

are really important.

What typically goes into itinerary, you know what kind

of budget goes into these kinds of things?

I mean can you shed any insight into those?

- So, you know we're lucky enough, that the business

is doing pretty successful,

and so we're able to like afford something

that's a little bit more fun,

where we are able to fly out of town,

and do all these things.

But even for like someone who's like budget bootstrapped,

it's like hey, let's just spend a weekend at an Airbnb,

maybe like an hour away from town.

You know, we're gonna cook the meals in house,

we're gonna spend some time maybe just game-planning

the rest of the year.

I think I'm a big fan of T3s and B3s, which is your

top three things that happened in the last year,

and the bottom three things that happened in the last year.

So we do T3s and B3s where we analyze,

hey like, what's working really well?

And perfect example, like for us,

like lifetime software deals have been selling very well

in AppSumo, so we just decided to double down on that.

And that has resulted in a huge increase in revenue.

- Good to know.

- And then some bottom three things

that just simply weren't working, we decided

to cut off the plate.

We spent a little bit of time there, we spent a little bit

of time interviewing each other, right.

Asking more personal questions, like asking about

how they grew up?

Where did they go to school?

Asking them about their parents.

Like being able to learn, just becoming friends right?

And then obviously, scheduling a lot of time

for just fun activities.

We did hikes, we went out to some clubs, we went out

to some nice dinners.

So just being able to do things together, where you can have

that shared collective experience, I think is super critical

to building that culture.

- AppSumo is the thing that funded Sumo,

so you have two businesses now, do you guys hang out

with each other when you guys do these off-sites?

Is it together, or...?

- Yeah so the actual businesses themselves,

we don't do the actual events together anymore.

But we do happy hours together all the time,

we do events together all the time.

They're coming out to SumoCon to help out, so there is like

you know, the businesses are operating independently,

but there's also a lot of shared resources.

- Got it.

And you guys haven't raised any money,

neither company has right?

- Correct yeah, fully bootstrapped.

- So what's your take on that?

- So you know, I do think that raising money

has it's time and place.

I think the problem when you raise money,

is that you end up changing the trajectory,

or changing the actual goal.

And you're thinking about, when is the next time we need

to raise money, versus for us, like we needed

to hit profitability on day one, otherwise we couldn't

pay people's salary.

And so I think the focus for a bootstrapped company

is always on the customer, whereas like the focus

for an investment-backed company, at least in the beginning,

is on the investor as the customer,

'cause they're the only one really giving you money.

And so I think the second you can make that transition

back to the customer is really when the business

is gonna start benefiting.

- Right and you're building something real.

Right? - Yep, exactly

exactly. - Got it, cool.

So from a personal perspective for you,

what are your daily habits?

What are the things that make you kinda, who you are?

- So I'm like, hugest geek when it comes to that.

I'm constantly analyzing, I'm measuring everything,

and just trying to figure out what's the best way

for me to be a better asset to this company,

and a better asset to myself.

So, couple things that have worked really well for me is,

having a really just good management system

for my email, my inbox, my Slack.

Knowing what tasks need to come on plate.

I've got like a huge to do list,

it actually has over three thousand items on it,

and then Sunday night, I completely ignore that list.

Usually that list is like, hey make sure

to cancel this monthly recurring charge,

and like make sure to unsubscribe from this newsletter.

It's all these small things that don't have an impact

on the business.

So Sunday night, I go on full airplane mode

and I just have a Moleskin and I just write down,

what the three things that I need to nail down this month,

that is gonna help us reach our goal

for the end of the year?

And so, when I wake up Monday morning, I'm looking

at my three things and I'm making sure

that that's getting blocked off in my calendar.

Because the problem is, if you don't do that, you end up

just answering the latest email,

responding to the latest Slack message, getting sucked

into a couple meetings.

But if you know you need to do these three things this week,

and they're usually pretty big things.

Then you make sure that you're pushing back meeting invites,

you're pushing back on things that just aren't a priority,

because those aren't things that are gonna help

move the business forward.

That's, to me, one of the most critical things.

The other thing that I make sure to do is,

we're constantly looking at and analyzing

what is the highest ROI items that the business can do

to move forward.

So every three months, every quarter, we do a stack ranking,

where we list out all of the ideas for the business,

we measure them by impact and how long it's going to take.

And we just create an ROI score.

And so the highest ROI items get pushed to the top,

and we assign those individual items

to people across the team.

And so at our Monday meeting we can simply discuss,

hey are we moving forward on those projects.

We were just talking about Daniel, like our Facebook reviews

was taking a hit, we were like around 4.1,

we'd had zero Google reviews, and so Danny in charge

of our customer success, that was his initiative

for the quarter and he ended up ramping up our reviews

significantly, both on Google and on Facebook.

And now anyone that sees our deals, they're like,

"This looks too good to be true," and they Google us,

they can see, 50 plus five star reviews on Google,

they're like, "Okay, this is legitimate."

- Got it, you talked about the Monday morning meetings,

what do you guys do in those meetings?

- So the Monday morning meeting is a great time

for us to do three things.

Number one, it's an update on the goal, right?

How are we tracking, both on the monthly goal

as well as the yearly goal.

The second thing is just tracking

everybody's individual goal, everyone provides an update

on how are they moving forward on their individual goal,

whether that's Facebook ads,

whether that's the deals closed, whether that's the

average revenue per deal, average revenue per email.

Then the final thing that we end up doing is,

we talk about our weekend, it's a great time

for us to just catch up like,

hey are there any highlights from the weekend?

We crack jokes for the first five minutes, it just sorta

sets the mood for the team, and then we're able to game-plan

what are we gonna do for the rest of the week.

- I love that because, okay you have your metrics in there,

the other part is, you show that you actually care

about each other and not a lot of companies do that.

I mean when you hear about,

the kind of Silicon Valley stand-up

that you typically hear about,

is just one thing that you're struggling with,

one big thing you're working on,

and then that's basically it right?

So I think it's really important to get human aspect

in there, where you're actually hanging out with each other,

you're asking personal questions, things like that,

because you are working with humans at the end of the day.

And you don't want to go to work with people

that you don't like right?

So, the other thing I want to ask,

so you have your daily habits, how do you get better?

What do you do?

- Every morning, I make sure that I'm reading,

I have a daily morning ritual where I'm making coffee,

reading for 30 minutes to an hour, making sure I'm hitting

in box zero, so that way my mental head is clear.

And then just game-planning for the individual day.

And then the other thing that I love to do,

is I try to schedule

at least two or three conferences a week.

I think like, when you look back on the last

four or five years, the real difference

in your trajectory was really like,

the books you're reading and the people that you're meeting.

And sometimes when you're going to these conferences,

which is one we're throwing this weekend, SumoCon,

which is why you're here, right?

It gives you an opportunity to meet like-minded people,

these are the people that you're going

to be shooting ideas with, that you're going to be adding

on Facebook, that you are going to be potentially hiring

in the future, potentially starting a business together with

in the future.

And so when you're able to share those ideas, you yourself,

will continue to get better.

- Okay, so you sign up for two to three

conferences per week?

- Per month, sorry.

- Per month, okay. - I mean, sorry, per year.

- Per year, oh okay, got it got it got it.

Okay cool, so what's the best conference

you've ever been to in your life?

- I'm part of an online entrepreneur group called

Dynamite Circle.

- [Eric] Never hear of it.

- [Ayman] So it's actually thrown by Dan and Ian

from Tropical MBA.

- [Eric] Okay, yeah.

- And in 2013, they threw one, while I was living

in Munich, Germany in Berlin, Germany.

And so I was just randomly following them on Twitter,

I tweeted at them, I didn't even know

what the Dynamite Circle was at the time, and I just asked

"Hey, can I come to the event?"

They were like, "Well, it's sold out, it's typically

"only for members only," and I'm like

"Members, members of what?"

I just kept pinging them, bothering them, and then all

of a sudden they were like, "Hey we actually have one

extra spot available if you want to come up this weekend."

Bought the ticket, went up, and it was amazing,

I ended up meeting like a ton

of really awesome entrepreneurs.

But the best part about it was it was a small event,

it was only 150 people.

Which we're trying to recreate with SumoCon,

keeping it really small.

And it gave a lot of chance encounters to run

into the same people, over the weekend and create a lot

of life-long friends.

Some of them I'm still friends with to this day,

some of them are actually now working at AppSumo.

- Key takeaway, it's not what you know,

it's who you know, right.

Is there anything else you'd like to add?

- Yeah you know, I think for those that are just going

on the entrepreneur journey, I think it's a great way,

to just make the world a better place.

In your own little world.

I think the key takeaway for them is just,

constantly analyzing, over the last year, two years,

what has been your top three wins, the top three things

that have helped you move forward closer to your goal.

And just go do more of that, entrepreneurship is

not that difficult, it's not that hard to uncover,

we don't need to complicate it, if you simply just analyze

what's worked really well, don't read the latest blog posts,

just look at what's worked well for yourself,

and just go do more of that.

- Makes total sense, so there's a book I recommend,

it's from Peter Drucker, it's really short,

it's called Managing Oneself and it basically tells you

how to audit yourself all the time,

and all these other things.

So I actually have a final question for Ayman.

What's one book you'd recommend to everyone?

- You know, right now I'm actually reading this one,

the Mastering the Rockefeller Habits, it's actually a

really really good one,

so that's one I'm really enjoying right now.

- Cool, well Ayman, thanks so much for joining us.

- Eric, appreciate it.

- Yep.

Abraham Hicks - Why relationships are so difficult (and how to make them better) - Duration: 10:44.

well hello there he pointed through me a couple of times I just wanted to be sure

this being a smart aleck serve you sometimes well only when it gets a laugh

sometimes it's only me laughing but that's okay

well we appreciate it every minute of it but sometimes it doesn't serve you

that's true that's true and I feel that sometimes in

the days leading up to this I was trying to gently play in my mind

well if she calls on me what am I gonna ask but then as I'm sitting here it's

funny to feel that almost tension in that old momentum wanting me to bring up

those specifics but then obviously feeling the wonderful energy of these

it's like are you sure you want to bring that up so well that's the reason that

we've been pointing through you all day because we don't think you want to bring

it up we see no reason to bring it up you've got everything that you came for

already through other people but we wanted you to come up so that we could

tell you that you didn't need to come up

but you wanted to come up so much that we couldn't deny you so here you are how

about how about let's let nothing to do nothing to do really I done we just

wanted to see your pretty face let everybody see your pretty face and

acknowledge with you that you've got it all figured out wonderful okay thank you

yeah

relationships yeah Oh creating is all about that isn't it

cuz you're not here alone yep I'm here with my daughter from Sydney and we both

agree that relationships are the hardest thing in life

hardest thing seems to be well it's because and we're just going to talk

briefly and then we'll hear from you the reason relationships seem to be to a

lot of people like the hardest thing is because in relationships you have lured

isn't quite the right word but you've called you've trained people away from

their own guidance and asked them to accept what you want about them to be

the guidance and since every single person wants something a little

different from you it makes you crazy if there are two people in your life and

one things you should do this and the other things you should do that you've

got big trouble but if you're not prone to moving in the direction of what

either one of them want instead you're following your own guidance and they've

come to know that about you then they can have this detached

appreciation of your successful life without getting invested in it Jerry

used to say to people if I asked your opinion about something and you give it

to me and I don't follow your guidance would that upset you and if they say no

then Jerry would say okay then I'd like to know what you think about this but he

wanted them to know that there was a very strong probability that he was not

gonna do what they thought he should do he just wanted to collect the data and

that's a really good relationship to have with other people I love playing

with you and together we are identifying things that we all want but I'm not

going to turn my power over to you so don't get used to it right so we have a

relationship partnership we have an expectation we have our own expectations

of what a good relationship should entail so we have we

word is expectations yes and if the other person isn't fulfilling the

expectation you know but what you're talking about is conditional living I'll

be happy if you'll do this if it were different it would be perfect and so I

need you to behave in this way so that I can feel better and if you've got

someone in your life that is willing to perform in those ways then they're most

likely taking you away from your own guidance and away from any real

satisfaction that you will ever have so what you want to say to others is I

love you so much and what you think is interesting to me and I'm willing to

collect the data of it but I've got my own guidance system and I gotta march to

the beat of my own drummer because otherwise it's like this you think I

should do this and I want to please you so I do that and since I was listening

to you instead of infinite intelligence it might not go that well and then who's

mad at who everybody's mad at everybody but if instead you are loving them for

their awareness of you and really appreciating their well wishes and

accepting that everyone wants you to thrive doesn't it add up that if they

want you to thrive and if you've found a way to thrive then they're happy but so

many relationships are based upon people not thriving and then just looking for a

sounding board which is wrong yeah and here's a really easy way to sort this

out we've had this conversation through the years many times but now we have

another way of looking at it let's say that someone has a strong opinion about

something that you should or should not do maybe it's a person maybe it's an

organization maybe it's a religion and you are really well connected with your

own guide in the system we just want you to consider at all these options along

the way that come to you are you under the influence of your inner being or you

under the influence of society your inner being is

always coming from love is everyone that is guiding you from a human perspective

there are a lot of people that have their own motives for why they want you

to do what you do some people are not really rooting for your thriving your

intervene always is and of course the people that you love you want to believe

that they are rooting for you but what if they're not tuned in and not turned

on and not tapped in what if they are suffering what if they're worried about

you what if they're worried about things going well for you so in their worry

they've got no true connection to any true knowledge and if you're under the

influence of that is that gonna serve you as much as if you're under the

influence of infinite intelligence that knows everything that you're asking for

maybe a comfortable way to say it to those who are up close to you who might

understand what you're doing is I love you so much but please don't ask me to

make you responsible for my happiness it won't turn out well let me be

responsible for my happiness and you just root from the sidelines for me

thank you can I ask one more question whatever you want this is um my

daughter's question she would love a wonderful perfect relationship and you

know she wants to know how do I know if the relationship that I'm in is actually

right to go forward with well here's the thing you can't know until you've

practiced showing yourself what satisfaction is and once she's practiced

knowing for sure what satisfaction is then that vibration can increase to the

velocity to the momentum that it will ring your bells so loud that there's no

question in your mind so many relationships people are sort of

settling because they go this way in this way in this way in this way and

they haven't really tapped in to what they really want and so they don't know

if they're really moving in the direction of what they really want

usually and exist relationship does have the capability of

being all that you want but the relationship that you have is more about

what you're doing with your inner being than it is about what you're doing with

the other person you keep wanting to make your primary relationship be about

you and the other person instead about you and your inner being and once you

make it about you and your inner beam so that you know what satisfaction is and

you're looking for satisfaction and you're finding it then the details of

your relationship can become more and more and more and more and more until

it's ringing your bells so loudly that there's no question in your mind there's

just no question in your mind everybody on the planet could say oh I think

you're making a mistake and you would say your opinions just fine but get out

of my way I know what I'm doing this is who I want

this is where I'm going all of these questions under the influence of what

under the influence of what and of course the conversations are a little

lacking until you know for sure what you're under the influence of and it

won't take you more than three or four days after this conversation to have a

pretty good idea of what satisfying and what's not of what you're under the

influence of and what you're not under the influence of when you find yourself

pondering something and you have that sort of icky feeling in your stomach

stop them laughs it's clear I'm not under the influence of source or I'd be

feeling better and then that's early enough when you catch yourself Jerry

used to talk about sitting in front of a fireplace and the log is sparking and

the bark comes off of the log and gets on his sweater and if he sees it happen

and just flicks it up nothing happens but if he doesn't notice it and it sits

there for a minute it will burn a hole in his sweater and it's the same with

these thoughts it's an unsatisfying thought comes and you flick it off as

you reach for another satisfying thought which is easy to do in those early

stages where there's not much momentum going either way that's when you make

your best choices but if you wait until you've got long patterns of thought

about something and you're trying to flick it off your whole body's on fire

and you still haven't done anything about it and then you feel like it's

hopeless when it isn't start a new day every day yeah

enough

7 Everyday Things You Didn't Know The Purpose Of | FactoFusion - Duration: 4:54.

In today's world, we are so busy with our day-to-day activities,

that we don't quite pay attention to the smaller details of the everyday items we use.

like, why there are so may dimples on the golf ball you play with,

or have you ever observed the transparent liquid on top of the gel pen ink you write with?

Well, here's the purpose behind the 20 [correction:7] everyday things you didn't know about.

If you are a bar lover, Then surely you must have looked at this dimple,

or indentation at the bottom of the wine or beer bottles.

This indentation is known as punt.

And is created to make a firm grip of the bottle, when placed on the table.

Historically punts were created in the wine bottles by glassblowers,

They pushed the bottom of the bottle upwards, So that there weren't any sharp edges,

that disallowed the standing upright position of the bottles.

You all must have sometimes seen this numerical value printed inside a recycle triangle on

the plastic bottles.

Have you ever wondered what this number denotes?

This little symbol is the universal symbol for recycling,

which is also known as Resin Identification Code i.e. RIC

The RIC code ranges from 1 to 7 for different

types of plastic.

But the most commonly seen RIC code is 1, which is usually printed on all the mineral

and cold drink bottles.

RIC code 1 plastic is a recyclable plastic made from polyethylene terephthalate,

These plastics can be recycled, but should not be reused as they are porous and bacteria

can easily collect on them, thereby making it harmful to health.

Now this fact is really amazing and relates to the aerodynamics.

The dimples present on golf ball is just not for design purpose

but has a strong reason for existence, which makes the golf ball fly with a tremendous

velocity in the air.

The reason why we do not use smooth golf ball is,

Because a smooth golf ball can only travel half a distance than a golf ball with dimples.

Most golf balls have 300 to 500 dimples on them.

The dimples on the golf ball creates turbulence in the air,

due to which the separation of ball from air is delayed

and allows the ball to travel a much farther distance

than a smooth ball as it is unable to create the turbulence in the air.

We all must have used gel ink pens to get beautiful handwriting.

But you can see this different type of liquid at the top of ink in your pen's refill.

This liquid is known as stopper liquid and is a thick gel that prevents the ink to flow

out from the refill through the top opening.

It acts like a plug and makes your pocket safe from the leak of the ink.

Ever wondered why you have these ring strips on your earphone jack?

These strips are not for some design or fancy looks, but are actually present for insulation.

As you can see here the insulation here separates the connecting parts, thereby disallowing

them from being cross connected.

Most commonly, the top part in the iphone earphones is for mic, followed up by ground

and finally right and left.

But these tend to change based on different manufactures and earphone designs.

Females must have seen this small pocket in their panties.

These pockets are known as panty gusset and is created really for the cause of hygiene.

This is mostly made from cotton for the purpose of hygiene and absorbency.

These gussets help in increase of the thickness, Thereby providing better absorbency

and hygiene conditions for a bit longer time then the ones which do not have a gusset.

And finally the last thing on our list.

You might have very often seen this small hole next to the hole for key in your lock.

This small hole on the lock is to assist for the lubrication

And allows the excess oil and dirt to drain out from inside the lock.

What you want to do is open up Firefox, click the three line menu in the bottom right-hand

corner, go to search and you'll find that Google is pre-selected.

If you want to change it, maybe to let's say Bing or Yahoo, just click one of them and

select them or enter the name of the search engine manually, click ok and that's about

Russian Subway Dogs Review - Duration: 7:52.

Russian Subway Dogs, seems like one of those games that too silly to be true.

Your first take is what!?

Ok, but that's too absurd to work.

After playing though you can tell there's some serious thought and love put into this

game.

Just look at this this cute little guy!

Yeah, It's quirky but brings a charm that really works.

I would have never guessed that a game about living in the subway as a dog would be so

compelling.

On an initial look Russian Subway Dogs is about barking at Russians carrying food items

and making them drop it so you can eat.

I mean that pretty much sums it up.

But, it goes a bit deeper than that once you start juggling items and catching them in

the air.

So there's a lot more mechanically than you expect.

Although you do need to keep your hunger meter from depleting, that is the main goal.

If it does reach zero then you die.

But, all the food the people drop isn't edible.

When you first start some humans are drinking vodka which isn't that good for dogs.

Russian Subway Dogs isn't about to let that go to waste and if it drops on edible food,

like a shawarma, then it's instantly cooked and worth more points!

How ridiculous!

Yet, you're not the only one looking for an easy meal on the subway.

Other dogs are there to snatch up any food you're not quick enough to grab.

The point system is a little under explained but food gives a meager amount of points alone.

Cooked food gives a little bit more and if you juggle the vodka, by barking, before cooking

the food then the bonus is even higher.

Where the points really start to pour in is when you eat the food before it hits the ground.

While you can catch it while standing on the ground it gets more exciting when the game

makes you jump up and grab it.

It starts a multiplier that until you eat food off the ground.

Eating everything in the air as much as possible is the key to getting a high score.

Russian Subway Dogs has two different modes.

The first mode you're introduced to is the campaign.

The levels are along the subway lines and start off with only a few types of people

and expand from there.

It can get chaotic as many more mechanics are layered in.

Russian Subway Dogs does a good job of introducing new mechanics and not overwhelming the player.

There's some crazy additions too!

For example, a bear or a hot sauce guy.

It's nice they show you what is going to be in the level before starting.

The main goal of the levels is to complete three different challenges before the time

runs out.

The challenges give a bone and future levels are locked behind an arbitrary amount of these

bones.

For example, some of the challenges are eliminating two enemy dogs with one vodka bottle or juggling

a vodka bottle five times.

At the end of the level your score is graded on a scale of F to S but there are no leaderboards.

While the challenges are fun to complete locking the levels behind them is not great.

It forces the player to do silly things in a level that sometimes goes against getting

a high score.

Which you still need to focus on because even if you finish a challenge it won't count

unless your score grade is above an F. Scoring above an F is easy enough to do but maybe

not the first time while trying to focus on the challenges.

So you'll be replaying levels a bit.

Also, you do not need to complete all three challenges and if you want can focus on doing

them one at a time.

Inevitably you'll be replaying levels to complete challenges.

Not that they are very difficult just that it's much easier to concentrate on one at

a time so you don't accidentally screw it up.

Russian Subway Dogs also has an endless mode which is all about getting that maximum score.

Luckily this section of the game does have online leaderboards which can be something

to compete for.

In endless they don't hold anything back so it's advised to play through the campaign

first to get an introduction to the mechanics.

Playing through the campaign will also unlock more endless levels.

If you do pick up Russian Subway Dogs be warned that it's guilty of showing diagrams to

explain everything instead of showing the player.

I rushed past them but had to go back to understand the scoring system and some of the small details

of the game.

Just keep it in mind.

What I will say is that the mechanics work really well.

The juggling feels very consistent and I can push food exactly where I want it to go.

That means I can even get it across the screen pretty reliably.

Which is important since most of the time you'll only want to cook the food you can

reach because of the other dogs.

I do have a small issue with jumping and air control that isn't as easy to pick up.

For some reason I have trouble jumping to catch food.

It feels like I don't have complete control but I might just need more practice with jumping.

Out of the many unexpected mechanics introduced my favorite is chocolate.

As you probably know dogs aren't supposed to eat chocolate and that doesn't stop them

in real life or this game.

But in game it's used as a risk/reward mechanic and it's one of the highest valued items.

You can juggle it for even more points!

The catch is that it makes your hunger bar go down much faster.

So going for those huge points has a major downside and you might have to scramble to

get some food.

You can also use chocolate as a weapon.

If you leave it for the other dogs to get they will get sick and die but not only do

you lose out on the points but you also get points deducted.

You will not want to leave a chocolate bar that's been juggled for the other dogs to

eat.

You have to be very careful and think about placement and if you can eat the chocolate.

It's very a very cool and rewarding mechanic.

They really went all out with unlockable characters in Russian Subway Dogs.

They have Fidel from Fidel Dungeon Rescue, kepler from Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime,

and Question Hound from the Gunshow comic.

Just to name a few.

The art, style, and music are perfect for the theme of the game.

The cute babushkas carrying huge fish and the schwarma eating hot sauce guys are amazing.

Everything was well thought out and even though the developers did have fun it all, the game

is very cohesive.

The theme and gameplay work hand in hand to create an amazing experience.

Overall, I like Russian Subway Dogs a lot.

I don't understand why it's not getting more coverage.

The gameplay is fun and unique, the music is good, and it's so damn cute.

I love games that are unlike anything else I've played.

I can feel the passion the developer poured into making this game too.

I see there was a failed Kickstarter but they released the game anyway.

Thankfully.

I happily purchased the game and I definitely recommend it.

Consider sharing this video so the word spreads about Russian Subway Dogs.

Thanks for watching.
