The Secret to Poi Air Wraps - Duration: 6:06.

Tangles are tricky!

Getting the poi to cross and uncross on purpose can lead to both really cool tricks as well

as messy knots.

Drex here from Drexfactor.com and today I'm going to share some of my best tips for getting

down airwraps.

Airwraps are one of the foundational tangles.

Without having a good grasp on them, you've got an uphill battle for learning about both

hyperloops and orbitals.

But take heart--I've got some super helpful tips that will help you break through to understanding

how this trick works.

Make sure to hit that subscribe and notification bell so you know exactly when I drop my next

video.

Before we dive in, I just want to take a moment to give a shout out to the friends of the

channel.

Big thanks to Dark Monk, Flowtoys, Spinballs, and Ultra Poi for helping to make the videos

on this channel possible.

You can visit them all on the web by following the links down in the description of this

video.

So straight up: airwraps confused the hell out of me when I first tried to learn them.

I knew a lot of people that told me that the poi would automatically untangle after you

crossed the tethers over each other.

Spoilers: they did not.

If you're one of the lucky few for whom this did turn out to be the case then congratulations.

For everyone else I'm going to go into detail on how I finally was able to make this trick

work for myself.

In my experience, pulling off airwraps comes down to two different important puzzle pieces:

planes and sequence.

Though it's impossible to tell this from the audience's perspective, doing a successful

airwrap requires you to bend your planes in the same kind of way that you do for thread

the needles and weaves through the course of the move.

By the same token, you have to keep track of which poi head is crossing through these

plane bends at what time because they have to exit in the same sequence to successfully

untangle.

Confused yet?

Let me walk you through each of these concepts in greater depth.

Planes

So the first thing to clarify here is that the perspective of the audience when viewing

airwraps creates kind of an illusion.

From the front, it really looks as though the poi are always just flat against your

body as they tangle and untangle.

This is actually part of the magic of this trick!

It should look mysterious to our audience.

When you look at it from the side, however, the first thing you'll probably notice is

that the planes bow out both when the poi tangle as well as when they untangle.

Let's take our two hands for a second and imagine that between them is a diamond with

each hand at one corner and there being a corner pointed away from us as well as a corner

pointed toward us.

Performing the airwrap is a matter of switching the planes of the poi from overlapping at

that corner pointed away from us and bending them toward the plane pointed back at us.

You can actually get a feel for this with each poi individually by practicing doing

tic-tacs around the opposite hand.

Spin in wall plane in the direction of your choosing and try to tic-tac the poi head in

front of and then behind the opposite hand.

This will put your cross point out past your elbow.

Make sure to do this with each hand spinning the poi in the same direction.

Now when you cross the poi tethers over each other, try to bend the planes back at yourself.

As you can see, this can be done either with a really exaggerated angle or with a far more

shallow one.

Okay, so that covers what the planes are doing--now what about the sequence of the poi?

Sequence

Even if you're getting your planes to bend in the right spot, you may find that the poi

aren't untangling after you've bent their planes.

Why is that?

Well, most likely it's because they aren't entering or exiting the airwrap in the proper

sequence.

The point where the poi cross over each other is something we call a nexus.

Once the poi cross into the nexus we have to start keeping track of which poi is leading.

If you let the poi spinning down lead, that means that both poi will cross underneath

the nexus as the plane bends.

If you let the poi spinning up lead, that means that both poi will cross above the nexus.

There's no right answer for which you ought to do and frankly you should probably learn

both of them at some point.

Most of the time, I let the poi that is spinning down toward the ground lead and it'll pull

the other poi through the nexus behind it.

One of the biggest problems I had with learning this move was that I would frequently let

one poi cross the nexus but not the other one.

You can usually tell this is happening because you'll wind up with one arm slightly further

back than the other one.

The way to fix this is to pull both poi heads back toward your belly button so they both

cross the nexus and fully change plane.

Because my dominant direction is clockwise, I want to see my left hand poi catch my right

hand poi, then both going under the nexus, and if both poi successfully travel under

the nexus in the proper sequence they will unwrap in the new plane orientation.

From here most folks will let the lead poi bend back outside of the arms and allow the

other poi to follow and start the whole process over again.

There's also a fun exercise you can do to really reinforce the plane bending nature

of this move by then doing an airwrap going from the inside corner to the outside corner.

This is a great drill for really clarifying the planes as well as the sequence of the

poi in the airwrap.

So here's hoping this helps to demystify airwraps somewhat.

It took me quite a long time to connect some of these dots--don't get discouraged if

this trick doesn't come right away.

Why You Should Read "Can I Play Too?" By Mo Willems To Promote Inclusion And Acceptance - Duration: 6:09.

Hi everyone, Amy here.

Some of you might know me through my Ability Hacker blog and facebook page but whether

you know me or not, welcome.

I'm really happy to have you here with me.

Today, I am sharing one of the books from my all time favorite book series for kids

and also one of my favorite authors.

I'm sharing with you a book called "Can I Play Too?"

And it's part of the Elephant and Piggie series by Mo Willems.

And it's this really beautiful story of perseverance of the resiliency to never give up, and

that it's a really great thing to welcome everyone into your circle of friends, regardless of

whether they are the same as you or whether they are different.

And... it's one of those books that just touches me and I think it has a fantastic message,

but its a book that anybody and everybody can enjoy.

And I have to admit that the first time I read this book to my kids, it made me a little

bit emotional, and it was because it handles the concept of inclusive play in such an eloquent

and simple way.

When you think about a playground, it's where kids learn to interact with each other, it's

where they build friendships, and it's where the probably first learn to start resolving

conflict with each other.

For a kid with disabilities, it's also a place that exacerbates all of the challenges

that they already have.

Just the simple fact of having mulch on the ground of a playground can be the difference

between them being able to be included in play and not, and it's usually left to the

child who has the disability to figure out, how do I adapt, and how do I include myself

in play with others?

And if you think about that, that's a really tall order for a kid!

It's a really tall order for anyone.

What I think is so fantastic about the story, "Can I Play Too?" is how Elephant and Piggie

are, themselves, the ones that are just determined to figure out how to play with their new friend.

They are not expecting him to figure it out, they are really trying to figure out how to

make this happen.

And, if you're not familiar with the Elephant and Piggie books, the elephant's name is Gerald,

and he tends to be more the serious and contemplative type, and then Piggie is this more excited

and gregarious character who just is always very, kind of, like, bouncy, and happy and

loud, and in this particular book, they also meet a new friend.

And that new friend happens to be a snake.

And, snake sees Piggie and Gerald playing catch, and comes over and asks if he can play

too.

The request from the snake causes some hesitation in Piggie and Gerald, and it's not because

they don't want to play with the snake, but, it's because they cannot figure out how to

play catch with a snake ... because how do you play catch with someone who doesn't have

arms?

Like, how is he going to, how is he going to catch the ball?

And at first they try playing catch the more typical way.

So, they take the ball, and they throw it, and then, you know, of course, as expected,

the snake can't catch the ball... so it just like, bonks the poor snake on the head, and

then they say maybe we need more balls!

And then they take all kinds of balls and then they throw them over at the snake and

then the snake is getting hit by all these balls, and eventually they realize that just

throwing more balls at the situation is not going to solve it.

And right at the point when the snake is about to completely give up on the whole thing,

you know, he says, "We have tried.

It's not going to work."

Piggie, who just obstinately proclaims, "No! You are our friend!

We WILL figure out how to play together!"

And then right at that moment, there is this spark of an idea, it's like a light bulb goes off

in Piggie's head, and she all of the sudden figures out how they can play catch together.

And at the end of the book, the three of them are playing catch together in an inventive

new way.

And what a great way of sharing the importance of creative problem solving with kids.

Like, look, they had to work at it, they had to keep trying, they had to come up with different

solutions.

That's a really good skill for us to build in kids.

And it also teaches resiliency, like, they tried and tried again, they didn't give up,

even when it was hard, even when they didn't think that they were going to figure it out,

they kept going, and they kept trying.

And then, it's also talking about welcoming people who are different from you into your

circle of friends.

I mean, to me that is just a beautiful, beautiful message.

I just love this book.

So, but there is other things that are fun about it as well, and I want to share those

with you too, because this series of books, and this book especially is just one that

is so much fun for us to read together as a family.

Everybody participates when we read this book.

My daughter, who is 6, she is an emerging reader, and she, the words are simple enough

that she can read it herself.

Let me show you one of the pages.

So the way the book is structured is you have pictures of the characters, and they are all

very descriptive.

Simple illustrations.

But they tell a story almost just in the way that the character is drawn and the situation that

the page is showing.

But then, each character has a text bubble.

And so, when we are reading this book, my daughter will be like, "I want to be Piggie!"

because she loves being Piggie!

But then, the words that Piggie is saying are simple enough that she, as an emerging reader, can absolutely

read it completely on her own.

And my son, who is a couple years younger, he is only 4, he is not reading yet, but he

also likes to participate.

And in this particular book he loves to be the snake.

And so what we'll do with him is we'll just, we'll whisper the words in his,

in his ear. We'll be like, ok, "Can I play too?"

and he'll be like, "Can I play too?"

And then he'll look at the characters and he'll act out what he sees on the screen while

he repeats the line we just told him.

And so everybody is involved, and everybody is having a great time...

it just makes it so fun to do together.

And so, I encourage you to go out and get this book, and read it, and try it out...

and if you like this video, please subscribe to my Ability Hacker channel.

Thanks very much!

Have a great one!

My Top Three Secrets To Effective Graphic Design - M.D. Chau (The Social Nanny's Founder) - Duration: 5:48.

Hi! I'm MD, founder of The Social Nanny. Thank you so much for taking your time to watch

this video. It's a beautiful day here, as you can see, in Southern California. And,

at The Social Nanny, we pride ourselves in bringing value to you, whether you do

business with us or not. So I want to give you my top three secrets to

effective web and graphic design. You've found us! The right people for

on-the-spot graphic and web design. Now, before I get into it, I want to make sure

that you get our free Business Marketing Checklist that we put together for

business owners just like you. In it, you can actually assess your marketing

strength, especially in today's digital world. You can score your business and, if

you want, give us a call and we can discuss your marketability score.

Just put your info in and then we'll get it right to you right in your email box.

Okay! So are you ready? My top three secrets for effective graphic and web

design. The number one secret: Personal taste is meaningless. Yes, you heard that

right! Personal taste doesn't mean a whole lot when it comes to effective

graphic design. Not your personal taste or the personal taste of your graphic

designer even. What you have to think about when it comes to graphic design is

whether or not the design that you're coming up with is competitive. Is it

competitive in the current market? Because it doesn't matter how creative

you are if what you're creating doesn't stack up against what's currently in the

market. It won't be effective because reality is: There are market leaders that

have set the trends for today's market. And, you have to follow the market! You

have to follow the trend that's already been set, especially when you're in a position

where you cannot influence the market because you don't have the financial

means or the scope big enough to actually affect how the market thinks

and what the market views as current. What you don't want to do is work with a

graphic designer that has too much ego, that is too "creative" that they can't see

when their designs are not competitive in today's current market. You also want

to make sure that you check your ego at the door so that whatever you create

would be effective for your business. Here at The Social Nanny, we do

on-the-spot graphic design, which means you get to be in the creative director

seat and you get to direct your graphic designer to create the work that you

know would be competitive. It's really easy to see what competitive design is.

All you have to do is look at magazines, look at what's on TV, look at what's out

there right now. And then see if the designs that you come up with, with your

designer, matches up - if it's competitive or not. Secret number two: I have this

rule that I call the rule of three's, which means that everything in graphic

design has three parts. There's three parts to just about everything. For

example, a logo is made up of three parts. You have the icon. And then, you have your

business name. And then, you have the slogan. Now, within the logo you actually

can use up to three colors and up to three different fonts, but you gotta

make sure that the colors that you use matches what is typically used for the

type of product or service that you offer. Because there is a science to

color and how it influences people. The same thing with your font combination.

Now, you can always use Google to search what fonts work best together. And so, you

have to pick what elements go into your logo, but typically everything is in sets

of three's. The same thing with flyer designs. For example, an effective flyer

is also made up of three parts. You have the headline, which is big and it hooks

people in. And then, you have the description and the details. And then, you

have a call to action. That is the typical content layout of a flyer that

is effective. And then, you have your graphic element. And again, you have your

color choices. And then, you have your font choices. The rule of

three's. Whether it's a business card or a flyer, you can actually divide up the

space that's being used into three different spaces for each of those three

different parts. And then, you design accordingly, so that the parts are

distinctive and are separated from each other. And, it's also easily readable and

can make an impact at whoever that's looking at it, at just a single glance. So,

secret number three: I kinda alluded to this in the last one. Google

everything! That's the secret to number three: Google everything. Listen, there are

a lot of details when it comes to marketing, when it comes to what's

competitive that's hard to keep up with. Even designers sometimes don't keep up

very well. And so, you have to search to see what's out there.

Google everything. Color choices. You can Google that. Font choices you can also

Google that. There's so many things out there that you can research to make sure

that whatever that you're putting out is gonna be competitive. Not sure if your

business card is competitive? Google good-looking business cards that are out there.

Not sure if your logo stacks up against your competition? Google and search your

top competitor and see how they stack up against what you've gotten created. So

that's it! I hope that it helps you. Now, there are a lot more to graphic design,

but I know those top three secrets will help get you started. You've come to the

right place for graphic and web design services. No matter which designer you're

working with, they've been trained so that you can take the creative director

seat and get out the ideas that you need, along with their skills, to create an

effective and compelling design for your business. No more waiting for files. No

more going back and forth. And, you'll know that the work that's being done is

original work that you can depend on and build your business out for the long-term.

We've put all the power back into your hands. So let's get in touch and let's

talk marketing! See ya!

8 Symptoms That Will Help You Recognize if You Have Hypothyroidism - Duration: 7:20.

8 Symptoms That Will Help You Recognize if You Have Hypothyroidism

Hypothyroidism is a disorder that alters the functioning of the thyroid gland, which responsible for important processes such as metabolism and hormone production.

It's a common disease in the present population and affects mostly women.

Furthermore, this condition occurs when thyroid hormone levels decrease or cease to be produced in the necessary amounts.

This leads to a number of changes in many in the body's main systems and reduces your ability to maintain a healthy and balanced weight.

The problem is that it develops gradually and is commonly confused with more common and sporadic conditions due to its symptoms.

For this reason, today we want to tell you about 8 symptoms that can help you recognize the disease.

1,Sudden weight gain.

Excess body weight usually occurs due to poor eating habits and living a sedentary lifestyle.

However, when the person is on a healthy diet and is gaining weight, it's very likely that the cause of this is hypothyroidism.

This disease directly influences the metabolic functions, slowing down the processes that burn fat.

2, Feeling tired.

The feeling of physical and mental fatigue, or chronic fatigue, is common among patients who begin to have problems with their thyroid.

Although this is a symptom that's related to many health problems, this condition shouldn't be ruled out.

3,High Cholesterol.

High levels of bad cholesterol can occur due to eating foods rich in fat, carbohydrates and other substances that affect metabolic activity.

However, when accompanied by the above symptoms, or if it occurs for no apparent reason, you may be suffering from hypothyroidism.

In this case, the body reduces its ability to remove this lipid from the arteries, which makes it difficult to clear the blood.

4,Sudden mood swings.

When the thyroid glands fail to secrete the necessary amount of hormones, abrupt and sudden mood swings usually occur.

Patients with hypothyroidism are at high risk of falling into periods of anxiety, depression and stress.

While these problems can be caused by multiple factors, this condition should be ruled out as a possible cause.

5,Memory Problems.

Alterations in thyroid functions directly influence the health of the nervous system and the brain.

Hormonal imbalances that occur with this condition often influence the weakening of the brain and memory loss.

This is because your neurons take longer to send signals to the brain.

Hence, in turn, they tend to tire more easily.

6,Dry skin.

The decrease in hormones that occurs with hypothyroidism leads to negative reactions on the skin.

This, in turn, affects its natural production of oils.

This causes excess dryness and, as time goes by, makes the skin look rough and imperfect.

Furthermore, in many cases, this symptom is even accompanied by the weakening of the nails, excessive hair loss and difficulties in the skin regeneration and healing process.

7,Constipation.

Constipation is a condition that occurs when the body has difficulty removing waste that is retained in the colon.

This is a common symptom of many digestive problems.

However, its development can also be due to a decrease in thyroid hormones.

This is because the thyroid gland participates in metabolism and digestive track activities.

These processes are both vital for optimally disposing of waste.

In turn, this condition weakens the ability to contract the bowel, which affects the passage of waste through it.

8,Muscle aches.

Muscle pains are common among those who suffer from inflammatory problems, or in those who do high-intensity exercises.

However, when none of these is the cause, it's necessary to analyze if its recurrence has to do with the weakening and dysfunction of the thyroid.

Although most of us ignore it, when the hormones that regulate the metabolism decrease, this tends to weaken our muscles and joints.

Nevertheless, it's a symptom that can be overcome if you practice healthy habits like low-impact exercises and stretches.

In conclusion, it's true that these symptoms also occur with other diseases.

However, it's important to consider that they may be caused by thyroid problems.

If you have a family history or risk factors associated with hypothyroidism, consult your doctor.
