Waching daily Aug 28 2018

we are live.. welcome to the day one journey episode 14. last few

episodes I shared with you my journey towards realizing my dream. and we just

stopped in the interesting point when everything just... clicked. let me do a very

very quick recap. let's take a walk. and I'll tell you what just clicked. so I saw

that video, and he he was talking about

putting informational products on Amazon. then he said how easy

it is to write children books. I didn't really agree with that

but afterwards I thought. and I asked myself:

"if I would have write the children book what would it be about?"

and then clicked:

I already have hundreds of ideas, hundreds of ideas that I

collected at least 10 years, and I think some of them you've already listened to

me in these episodes. yeah yeah yeah these are the quotes. not just funny

quotes and fun quotes I don't know. inspirational quotes- these quotes

that take wisdom from very long books and put them just in very small (short)

wording, condensed, which makes them so powerful. so it's the quotes and that

connects me to probably one of my biggest passions in life, which is

sharing, teaching other people. everything I did in my life in some way or another

I was teaching. even if just.. I wanted to pass this knowledge forward. I'm not

saying this wisdom is mine. I'm speaking about Socrates Aristotle..

from then till now. again it's not just my wisdom but my passion of

passing it forward. so all these quotes and everything clicked with the children

books, and then between me and myself and this is the beginning of the big dream.

I want to make the biggest impact on the world that I can. really the biggest.

putting my true best and when I say world,

I mean humanity. yeah yeah I said humanity. and this is a good time for you

to laugh cause this is the moment when it starts to be ridiculous. but when

I say humanity, I'm speaking 50, 100, 500 years from now.

I'm creating an empire. right now I'm creating an empire. many people won't be

able to see that, because when you want to build something very high you

need to go deeper, yeah. the deeper the roots the higher the tree. I think this

is my quote or something but the deeper the roots the higher the tree. I'm

working on the roots right now. but it is still an empire. so I worked on my empire

to make the greatest impact I can, doing my true best on humanity. this is what I'm

doing. and if I want to make the biggest impact

it's better that I start from the beginning. and the beginning is YOU! yeah

yeah - YOU -children. you better be watching this one.

so I start with the children. so this is where the children books connect.

we're out of time... people. next episode I'll tell you all the details

about what the empire is going to be. and I will let you go with these words:

this empire is so big, I know, I know that I won't be able to see most of it when

I'm alive. and I'm young... :)

but I'm being serious I know that I won't be able to see most of it.

but YOU will..

this my promise to you. you will, all of you will..

you, children, grandchildren and all the world. you will see this Empire. and this

is my promise to you. this is my life mission. I'll tell you more about that in

the next episode. back to you, if you would have create an empire what would

it be about? take a piece of paper, few words, five minutes and until tomorrow

have a great DAY 1!

How to Watch LeBron James' 'The Shop' Online Without HBO | Heavy.com

Have you ever wanted to watch LeBron James, Snoop Dogg, Odell Beckham, Alvin Kamara, Draymond Green, Candace Parker and Jon Stewart have unfiltered conversation inside a barbershop? Well, then The Shop, a new show from James' Uninterrupted and HBO, is just for you.

The premiere of The Shop will air on HBO on Tuesday, August 28, at 11 p.m.

ET/PT.

If you don't have cable, don't have HBO or can't get to a TV, you can still watch the show live (or on-demand after) on your computer, phone or streaming device by signing up for one of the following cable-free, live-TV streaming services:.

Amazon Prime.

If you have Amazon Prime or start a free 30-day trial of Amazon Prime, you can watch all HBO content through the HBO Amazon Channel, which also comes with a free 7-day trial.

Once you're signed up for both Amazon Prime and the HBO channel, you can then watch The Shop either live as it airs or on-demand (episodes are available on-demand as soon as they air live).

With either option, you can watch on your computer via the Amazon website, or you can watch on your phone, tablet or streaming device via the Amazon Video app.

Whether you already have Hulu or you want to sign up for a new subscription, HBO is available as an add-on to Hulu or Hulu With Live TV.

Once signed up, you can watch The Shop episodes live as they air, or you can watch them on-demand anytime after.

With either option, you can watch on your computer via the Hulu website, or on your phone, tablet or streaming device via the Hulu app.

Preview.

Per HBO's synopsis, The Shop "gives viewers a one-of-a-kind barbershop experience, which for many provides a sanctuary for free-flowing and spirited discussions.

The series will visit barbershops around the country to gather distinguished individuals who can speak honestly on sports, music, pop culture, world events, business and other culturally relevant topics.".

An interest premise by itself, The Shop becomes especially compelling due to the individuals partaking.

While the show will have different guests throughout the season, the first episode features a who's who of international superstars.

It, of course, starts with LeBron, one of the most popular individuals–let alone athletes–on the planet.

The Shop is produced by Uninterrupted, the digital media company founded by he and Maverick Carter, so it's likely that he serves as a recurring presence on the show.

The first episode also includes: Snoop Dogg, Draymond Green, Odell Beckham Jr., Alvin Kamara, Candace Parker and Jon Stewart.

It's an unbelievable collection of talent, with numerous MVPs, Grammys, Emmys and All-Star nods between them, but it's also a diverse cast of intelligent, out-spoken individuals who have never been afraid to shake things up.

Put it all together, and this is absolutely a must-watch show.

The first season has eight 30-minute episodes, which will "air periodically throughout the year.

Jamel Myles: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know | Heavy.com

Jamel Myles committed suicide after he was bullied upon coming out as gay, his mom Leia Pierce says.

He was 9 years old.

Myles was a student at Joe Shoemaker School in Colorado where he had just began in the fourth grade.

Local media in Denver reported that Myles died on August 23 at around 11 p.m., three days after school came back in session following the summer break.

He was rushed to Swedish Medical Center after he was found.

The Denver's medical examiner ruled that Jamel Myles cause of death was suicide that did not involve a gun.

It has been reported that Myles died after hanging himself.

His mother told the Denver Post that her older daughter had told her that Myles' classmates had told him to kill himself over his coming out.

He was like, "Mom I'm gay." And I thought he was playing, so I looked back because I was driving, and he was all curled up, so scared.

And I said, "I still love you."".

Speaking to the Denver Post, Pierce said that Myles had begun wearing fake fingernails.

Pierce said, "My child died because of bullying.

My baby killed himself.

He didn't deserve this.

He wanted to make everybody happy even when he wasn't.

I want him back so bad… He was scared because he is a boy and it's harder on boys when they come out.

I smiled at him and said, "I still loved him." The world is missing out.".

Pierce went on to say that it was her son's goal was to become a YouTube star saying, "He said, 'Mom, I want to be famous YouTube star so I could buy you a new house.

He was the kindest soul." Pierce said her son's interests included Pokemon and wearing a dress and high-heeled shoes.".

Myles Mother Says She 'Lost a Reason to Breathe' After Her Son's Suicide.

On her Facebook page, Pierce wrote, "Please we are all the different and thats what makes us the same because we all have 1 thing in common we're all difference thats what makes the world beautiful.

i want justice for my son and every kid who is bullied.

i want bullying to end i never want to hear someone else go thru this pain.".

Pierce added, "My son died because of being bullied please tell ur kids to love everyone we all need to love each other." In a different post, Pierce said, "I lost a reason to breathe… my heart, my sunshine, my son… he was being bullied and i didnt know.

Not till it was to late.

We snuggle in a pack and i need my son back because its not the same.".

The Principal of Myles' School Says the School Is Working to Ensure 'LGBTQ+ Students Can Pursue Their Education With Dignity'.

The Denver Channel reports that Joe Shoemaker Principal Christine Fleming told parents in a letter on August 24, "It is with extreme sadness we share with you that one of our fourth-grade students passed away yesterday.

This is an unexpected loss for our community… Our thoughts are with the student's family at this time.

We will continue to process this sad news as a school community, and again, please feel free to reach out as needed for ongoing support… It is critical that our students receive all the support they need to learn and thrive in a safe and welcoming environment.

Our formal policies and practices reflect this commitment to ensuring that our LGBTQ+ students can pursue their education with dignity – from policies and training to prevent and stop bullying to formal policies and guidance materials that fully respect gender identity (including use of preferred pronouns and restrooms).".

A Denver Public Schools spokesman Will Jones told the Denver Post, "It's always tough when a little one takes his life.

We have our crisis team there… Fourth and fifth grade teachers at Shoemaker are creating a space for students to share how they are feeling and to process their emotions after hearing this news.

Teachers are also letting students know about the DPS crisis team members on hand to meet their social-emotional needs.".

10 Surprising Uses For Shaving Cream - Duration: 6:04.

Joy Home Remedies Brings You:

10 Surprising Uses For Shaving Cream You Didn't Know!

We all know, what shaving cream is used for – well, shaving.

However, there are several different and surprising ways to use shaving cream that go beyond getting

rid of your stubble!

This time, we've dug up 10 surprising ways to use shaving cream around the home.

So let's get right to it!

Number 1 - Prevent Foggy Mirrors

Foggy mirrors are so annoying, right?

Especially if you're trying to do anything in your bathroom after you take a shower.

Check out this great use for shaving cream!

Before you shower, just put some shaving cream all over your mirror and wipe it off with

a washcloth.

It will stop it from fogging up so you won't waste time waiting for the mirror to clear

up to start shaving, or have trouble peering through wipe-streaks created by your towel.

Problem - solved.

Number 2 - Clean Your Glasses

You can also use the fog trick on your glasses and sunglasses.

Put a dab of shaving cream on each lens and wipe off with a clean, dry cloth.

The fingerprints and dirt will instantly disappear.

Number 3 - Clean Your Sneakers

Scuffs on your sneakers aren't pretty.

You can remove scuffs and dirt by lathering shaving cream on them and wiping them with

a dry washcloth or towel.

They'll be good as new!

Number 4 - Remove Stains

That's right, another use for shaving cream is cleaning your carpet.

If juice gets spilled on your carpet, put some shaving cream on the spot.

Blot the stain, pat it with a wet sponge, squirt some shaving cream on it and then wipe

clean with a damp sponge.

Just be sure to test an inconspicuous spot on your carpet to test for discoloration beforehand.

Use the same technique on your clothes for small stains; shaving cream can remove that

spot of breakfast you discovered you're wearing during your once-over in the bathroom.

Number 5 - Break In A Baseball Glove

There are several different tips and tricks for breaking in a baseball glove, but here's

a much simpler method!

Put some shaving cream into your new baseball glove, put a baseball in it, wrap the glove

with a rubber band, and let it sit for several hours.

Easy as that!

Number 6 - Shine Your Jewelry

You can also give your old jewelry a quick refreshing shine with a little shaving cream.

Apply a dab of shaving cream to a toothbrush.

Gently brush your jewelry, then rinse it in clean water and let it air dry, or polish

it with a soft cloth.

And bam!

Number 7 - Clean Your Shower

The smell of cleaning products can be really harsh, and they can give most people a serious

headache.

Instead of using harsh chemical-laden products to clean your shower, just apply shaving cream.

It takes off all the grime and doesn't leave you feeling woozy afterwards!

Number 8 - Fix Squeaky Hinges

Have a squeaky door in your house?

It can be incredibly annoying.

Apply some shaving cream to the hinges and listen to the new-found silence.

With its ability to seep into nooks and crannies, a little shaving cream on the hinge will solve

the problem.

Number 9 - Clean Your Dirty Hands

The next time your hands get dirty on a camping trip, save that hard-lugged water for cooking

and drinking!

Squirt a little shaving cream into your hands and rub as hard as you would liquid soap.

Then wipe your hands off with a towel.

And if you managed to get dirt under your nails, just put some shaving cream on your

nails and use a toothpick to get them squeaky clean.

Number 10 - Remove Nail Polish From Your Skin

Girls this one is for you!

I don't know about you… but most girls I know end up with nail polish all over their

fingers whenever they're painting their nails at home.

If this happens to you, don't lose your cool!

Just wait patiently until your nails are completely dry.

Then, apply shaving cream onto your hands and scrub for a minute and rinse.

Your "paint job" will look like it was done by a pro!

So, yeah!

As you can see, this stockpile staple can be used to clean more than just scruff!

Buy some in bulk, keep it around the house, and utilize this list of creative ways it

can be used.

Have you used shaving cream for anything other than shaving before?

Boosting Posts - Moko Media Minute - Jenn Sunnerton - Duration: 2:05.

Oftentimes when we work with companies we hear, "Oh yeah, we do digital marketing,

I boost posts all the time." Well I'm kind of conflicted about that and here's why:

It's awesome that you've acknowledged that you need to spend a little bit of

money when you're working on Facebook to get your message out to your audience,

because really an organic post right now only has about a three to six percent

chance of reaching people who follow your page, so it's a step in the right

direction. Don't get me wrong, boosting has come a long way.

I used to say never boost on Facebook because it was still like casting a

fishing rod out into an ocean. You couldn't target enough or dial in

your demographic enough to really get the results you wanted. Facebook has

improved that, but it's still not as refined as business manager. In business

manager we're creating multiple headlines, multiple images, and we're

split testing results, so what that means is we create the same ad with small

variations and we're looking to see which one gains more traction for you

and from there we do even more variations and from that we start to get

a more and more refined idea of who your customer is and how they're interacting

with your material and then we spend more of your budget on those ads. With

boosting a post you just do one ad and you hope for the best, you can target it

to a degree, but you're not getting the same bang for your buck. So overall if

you're a small business owner and you're completely intimidated by business

manager and you don't want to get into it, then sure, boost a post to people who

like your page and friends of people who like your page within a targeted range

of geography. But if you're looking for a more refined digital marketing strategy

and you're wanting to really leverage digital marketing, then I encourage you

to learn business manager or connect with somebody who knows the platform well.

MSC Fun Pass - What We Learned - Duration: 5:33.

Today's episode is sponsored by CruiseLine.Com where you can find reviews tips and

photos from real everyday cruisers hey cruisers welcome onboard

MSC seaside when we stepped foot on this ship we were really curious to learn all

about the fun pass the fun pass covers a few different areas of entertainment for

families on this ship the 5d or XD cinema depending on where you look

the bowling the zipline the billiards area the f1 simulator and the video

games so what's so interesting about the fun pass is that it's something that you

can buy at several different levels if you'd like to save some money on these

different areas of entertainment for you and your family now in general when you

purchase a fun pass you can apply it to everyone in your cabin or your family

you can distribute it however you want now as always I want to give you a

little bit of a disclaimer here that these types of packages can change so

when you get on board your MSC cruise ship make sure that you do a little bit

of research with the staff at the the fun Pass area or the entertainment or

arcade area to find out what their current offerings are because as with

anything these can change but for now I want to go over the different levels

that are offered for the fun pass how much they cost and what they include and

why you might want to buy them now there are four levels that you can currently

buy here on MSC seaside the first one is to spend $25 and to get a $5 bonus on

top of that so think of this like a bank account so you're going to be spending

$25 but you're getting $35 in credit that you can apply towards any of the

activities that I mentioned and as you apply them your balance goes down so

that's the first and lowest level that you could use for your party the second

level is to spend $50 and get $15 in credit to use towards these activities

so you're actually getting a $65 total for $50 the third level is to spend $70

and to get a $30 credit I think this might be pretty popular so you're

getting $100 total credit for $70 and the last and highest level for the

amusement area is to spend $100 and get a $60 credit so you're actually getting

160 dollars to apply towards billiards XD cinema the zip lines all that good

stuff now let's talk about the pricing for each of those individual items so

you know how you might want to apply some of this fun pass credit and if it

might work for you and your family for example the Formula one simulator which

is really fun by the way is ten dollars per person per ride the interactive XD

cinema for adults is ten dollars per ride and for kids it's eight dollars

bowling is twenty five dollars for a 30-minute session a one-hour session is

forty five and shoe rental is two dollars per pair and then we have

billiards at $10 per person now you can now use the zipline credits towards let

me rephrase that you can now use your fun pass for your zipline credits as

well so I'll tell you what the individual pricing would be for the

ziplining you can decide if you think the fun pass would help you out so if

you wanted to do a single ride on the zipline here on msec side that would be

five dollars now if you bought a cruise past you could do unlimited zip lines

for twenty dollars so for some families it might make more sense to buy the fun

pass and go on a few zipline rides using the fun pass all right so hopefully this

didn't confuse all of you guys because I know it's a lot of information but it's

a really cool opportunity to get in and enjoy these activities on MSc seaside I

want to give you a few extra tips for enjoying that what they call kind of the

amusement area number one on embarkation day make sure you go down and introduce

yourself to the arcade or amusement staff that's down there in the arcade

level they are super helpful and professional people and they can totally

outline the different options for you and help you to make reservations now

our understanding as of right now is that you can only make reservations for

these activities day of so for example if you want to go bowling you can't make

a reservation for three days in advance you have to make it for the day of

another thing that you should be aware of is that they have very set and

specific times that the amusement area is open they closed down during

mealtimes as one example and another example would be that they vary their

opening times based on whether or not is a port day or a sea day so here's an

example of what some traditional bowling and the XD cinema times might be for

example our first sea day the bowling and xd cinema were open from 11 a.m. to 6

p.m. and then they closed from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. and they were open again from 11

p.m. to 1 a.m. now on a port day like we had today in Georgetown grande came and

they were open from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. then again from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. so you

need to understand that these areas are not open all day every day for you to

just walk in and enjoy you have to go during the set times and you want to do

your research when you get on the cruise to find out all work for your family

we hope this little mini episode on the fun pass was helpful be sure to check

out all of our vlogs on MSC Seaside and until next time we'll see you on the

high seas

Arsenal news: Unai Emery will make this Mesut Ozil decision - pundit - Duration: 2:38.

That is the opinion of ESPN FC pundit and former Major League Soccer star Alejandro Moreno

Ozil has hit the headlines in the last few days after reportedly falling out with new head coach Emery in training on Friday

The former Germany international missed the 3-1 Premier League win over West Ham on Saturday

But Emery has denied claims of a falling out between himself and Ozil, saying the 29-year-old attacking midfielder was ill

Ozil has often been criticised for his performances at Arsenal but signed a new three-and-a-half-year contract in January to make him the club's highest ever paid player on £350,000-a-week

Moreno cannot see how Emery can change the type of footballer Ozil is at his age

But he says Ozil is too good to be pushed aside and left out of the team. "It's always difficult when a new manager comes in and you have, essentially, an elephant in the room," Moreno said

"And that in this case is Mesut Ozil, because the guy just re-signed, and he's making a chunk of money and he has been comfortable for many years

"And if you're Unai Emery, you're trying to work in a way in which you can use the talent of this player and you can use his abilities

"But if he doesn't fit your mentality, if he doesn't fit the psychology of the team that you want to implement, if he doesn't fit your overall plans, then it becomes that idea of a little give and take

"You're not going to change, at this point in his career, what Mesut Ozil is. "And so, do you work around it? Or do you simply say 'we're not going to use you'? "I think he's too good of a player to just say 'we're not going to use you'

"And I don't think that Arsenal is good enough of a team to just say 'you know what Mesut? We don't need you'

" It remains to be seen whether Ozil will return to the Arsenal squad for the trip to Cardiff this Sunday

THANKS MANU! Just How Good Was Manu Ginobili? - Duration: 5:30.

Every fairy tale comes to an end, and on August 27th Manu Ginobili retired from the game of

basketball.

So now it's official.

Tim Duncan retired a couple years prior

Tony Parker signed with another team and now

the last part of the Spurs legacy retired.

The end of an era.

Hello everyone.

I'm PRPLPRNCH and today I want to talk about just how good was Manu Ginobili and why he

will be so missed.

Manu Ginobili was drafted in the 1999 NBA draft with the 57th overall pick by San Antonio

Spurs, but he didn't come to the NBA right away.

Ginobili stayed in Italy and played for the Virtus Bologna team with whom he won the 2001

Italian League championship, 2001 Euroleague and was named the MVP.

Ginobili finally joined the Spurs organization for the 2002-2003 NBA season as a classic

bench player playing around 20 minutes per game and scoring 7.6 points, grabbing 2.3

rebounds and dishing 2 assist per game in his first season.

Already in his first season, Manu won an NBA championship with the Spurs and it was just

the start of a great dynasty.

In 2003-2004 he was already a prominent part of Spurs lineup, and Ginobili proved his worth

by averaging 12.8 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game.

Spurs didn't win a championship that year ,

but Ginobili won an Olympic gold medal with the national team of Argentina upsetting one

of the most talented USA teams in semifinals and then defeating Italy in the finals.

In 2005 Ginobili once again became a champion with the Spurs, grabbing his second title

just 3 years into his NBA career.

The season also marked Ginobilis first time as an NBA All-Star.

Ginobili didn't have to wait too long for his next championship as in 2007 Spurs grabbed

their 3rd title by sweeping the Cleveland Cavaliers with Lebron James in the lineup.

After the 2007 championship Manu became more of a bench player - he became one of the best

6th men in the league, and by many accounts even THE BEST 6th man since he won the award

in 2008 when he averaged 19.5 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game.

He got another Olympic medal - this time Bronze medal in 2008 Summer Olympic games in Bejing.

For the next 6 seasons, Spurs failed to get another championship and people even started

to talk that this is the end of the Spurs era.

Duncan was a veteran, Ginobili was a veteran and Tony Parker wasn't as good as he was

before.

But when you count out the Spurs they always surprised you.

They still won 50+ games every season and only in 2017-2018 season they failed to get

to the 50 win mark.

It's just that in the playoffs they weren't as mighty as before.

Spurs lost to the Miami Heat in 2013 NBA finals in an ugly fashion as they had game 6 in the

bag, but missed free throws from Spurs players, including Ginobili gave a chance to Miami

and thanks to Ray Allens incredible shot Miami Heat came back in game 6 and managed to win

game 7 as well.

But next year, Spurs and Miami once again met in NBA finals, and this time, the old

Spurs veterans managed to beat Miami Heat by the biggest total point margin in NBA Playoff

history.

4th championship for Ginobili.

And everything seemed as if the Spurs are here to stay.

They had Kawhi Leonard, veterans were still playing good and having the best coach in

NBA history in Gregg Poppovich kinda helps too.

The dynasty started to break when Tim Duncan retired.

Spurs still were good, but Duncan gave that extra that always could lift the team over

the top.

And now, Kawhi Leonard is gone, Tony Parker went to a different team and Ginobili retires.

In a way this is a sad day for NBA fans like me who thoroughly enjoyed Ginobilis game.

Even at 40 he still got game, he could hit crucial shots and be that leader every team

needs.

He never flashed you with gaudy numbers but instead he did what was important.

Made the shot and the play.

Manu Ginobili finishes his career with 1057 total games played - all with the Spurs and

averaged 13.3 points, 3.8 assists and 3.5 rebounds per game.

The individual numbers don't scream Hall of Famer - but everything else does.

4 championships, one of the best international players to EVER step on the NBA court, leader,

and won everywhere and everything - Euroleauge, Olympic Games, NBA championship, Sixth man

of the year.

When the team needed him, he was there, and he was always a professional.

And how about that loyalty - he started as a Spur and retired as a Spur.

Don't look at his numbers, look at his play, only then you can see and appreciate just

how good he was.

Where would you rank Manu Ginobilli's career?

Do you think he is a Hall of Famer?

Was he done, or was he good for one more season?

Leave a comment below, like this video appreciate Manu and SUBSCRIBE for future NBA content.

Thanks for watching.

This was PRLPRNCH, and I'm out!

National Red Wine Day 2018: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know | Heavy.com - Duration: 12:53.

National Red Wine Day 2018: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know | Heavy.com

National Red Wine Day is Tuesday, August 28th– not that Americans need an extra incentive to uncork a bottle and unwind at the end of a long day.

The Wine Institute estimates Americans drink nearly a billion gallons of wine per year.

That's just shy of three gallons per person.

And red wine continues to be the favorite among the masses.

Here's what you need to know.

Ancient Lushes: The World's First Winery Was Discovered in a Cave in Armenia That Dates Back More Than 6,000 Years.

It's a well-known fact that civilizations have been drinking and trading wine for thousands of years.

Scientists say grapes were one of the first fruit crops that humans successfully domesticated.

In ancient Rome and Greece, wine was often mixed with water to add flavor.

References to wine have also been discovered in tombs of the ancient Egyptians, dating back 4,500 years ago.

But archaeologists say wine-making is even older than that.

In 2010, historians found a wine press and fermentation jars in a cave in the mountains of Armenia, which is located just east of modern-day Turkey.

The items found inside were estimated to be about 6,000 years old.

Excavation co-director Gregory Areshian said they found a shallow basin positioned over a drain.

He said wine-makers likely used the basin to crush grapes with their feet.

The juice would have drained down the vat and been left there to ferment.

Archaeologists tested shards of pottery to determine whether their hypothesis, that the vat and the jars had once held wine, was correct.

Their theory proved accurate: chemical tests revealed malvidin, which is the plant pigment that gives the wine its red color.

Wine Was Slow to Catch on in America Until the Gold Rush Inspired a New Breed of Wine-Growers in Northern California.

The Spanish conquistadors are credited (or blamed?) for bringing wine to the Americas.

Red wine was an important part of the Catholic mass, and the Spanish were intent on spreading Catholicism among the indigenous peoples in their colonies.

In the early 1500s, vinifera grapes were planted in Mexico.

Fernando Cortez, best known for conquering the Aztec empire and later named as Governor of New Spain, ordered land owners in the new colony to plant grapevines.

The Spanish are also credited with introducing wine-making to southern California, more than 200 years later.

Further up the east coast, early wine connoisseurs struggled to produce wine in the United States.

Wine in Europe and Asia was made from the grape species known as Vitis vinifera, referenced above.

This particular grape was accustomed to the dry summers and wet winters of the Mediterranean.

It did not grow well in the more humid environments common on the eastern part of the United States.

But wine-makers caught a lucky break.

They did succeed in spreading vinifera pollen, which mixed with other plants to create hybrids.

These hybrids tasted similar to the original.

But wine-makers continued to produce small quantities of the drink.

According to PBS, about 97 percent of the wine Americans drank in 1840 was imported.

Less than 3 percent was produced in the United States.

The Gold Rush changed that.

As mentioned above, wine-making was present in Southern California but it exploded in the north.

Settlers quickly realized that the northern California climate was ideal for growing real vitis vinifera grapes, not the hybrid version found on the east coast.

By the early 1900s, 90 percent of the wine consumed in the United States was made in California.

Mayo Clinic: A Glass of Red Wine With Dinner May Be Healthy for Your Heart.

Scientists love to debate whether moderate amounts of alcohol has health benefits.

One of the most common arguments is whether a glass of red wine with dinner can improve heart health.

At the Mayo Clinic in Cleveland, doctors say that antioxidants in red wine may help prevent coronary artery disease.

The results of a separate 2015 study also found that moderate amounts of red wine with dinner increased participants' levels of healthy cholesterol over several months.

Researchers are at odds about whether the chemical resveratrol, found in red wine, is the key.

Some research suggests that the chemical can prevent damage to blood vessels, reduce unhealthy cholesterol in the body and lower the risk of blood clotting.

But the Mayo Clinic also acknowledged that other studies have shown no link between resveratrol and heart disease prevention, and that more research needs to be conducted.

Doctor Kenneth Mukamal, an internist at Harvard-affiliated Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, argues that any evidence suggesting red wine may prevent heart disease is merely observational.

In an article by Harvard Health Publishing, he explained that "it's difficult to tease out the effect of drinking patterns from specific types of alcoholic beverages." His argument is that people who tend to drink only one or two glasses per day likely lead fairly healthy lifestyles.

Other habits, such as regular exercise and eating healthy, may have more to do with their heart health than simply drinking red wine in moderation.

Surveys and Consumer Data Consistently Reveal That Americans Prefer Red Wines Over White.

Americans drink more wine than any other country on earth.

And red wine has consistently proven to be more popular than white, according to surveys.

Online wine retailer Corkguru did a survey in 2014 that revealed nearly 58 percent of Americans prefer red.

A 2013 study by researchers at the California Polytechnic State University found that more than 60 percent of respondents favored red.

The wine retailer Naked Wines also found in 2014 that customers purchased red wine nearly 60 percent of the time.

Wines & Vines took a look at which wine brands were selling the highest quantities in early 2018.

The results showed that Barefoot wine was the most popular brand in America, resulting in $667 million in sales over a one-year period.

The top 5 included:. Barefoot.

Sutter Home.

Woodbridge by Robert Mondavi.

Franzia (boxed wine). Yellow Tail.

As for pairing red wine with food, Food & Wine magazine has a list of suggestions.

Some of those include:.

• Cabernet, Bordeaux and Bordeaux-style blends with red meat.

• Dry rose with cheeses.

• Malbec with barbecue sauces.

• Moscato with fruit desserts.

• Riesling with sweet & spicy dishes.

Another great pairing is Merlot with pasta dishes.

Millennials Have a Lot to Do With Increased Wine Consumption in the United States.

According to the Wine Market Council, millennials drank more than 159 million cases of wine in 2015.

That accounts to about 42 percent of all the wine consumed in the United States that year.

Among people who identify as "high-frequency" wine drinkers, meaning they drink wine several times per week, two-thirds were women.

Millennials have also been blamed for declining beer sales in the United States.

This group tends to drink less than older generations.

Forbes also points out that health-conscious consumers are more likely to prefer wine or liquor over beer, because of the lower calorie count.

Lesson Plan #4 - Pt. 2 - Joe Stevenson | DH Athletic Fit Center - Duration: 3:44.

Hey, everyone.

This is Joe Stevenson.

I'm here with lesson plan 4 part two.

My number two assistant, speaking of two, Athena.

We are going to be working on the free arm spin out.

The free arm spin out is applicable to so many other positions than just this one, but

we're not going to go over that right now.

We're going to go over to recover guard`.

I'm going to tell you why they're going to posture up, because I'm going to show you

what you should be doing.

You should always be focused on getting on top.

If I'm on bottom, I should get on top.

When I started doing jujitsu in the '90s, it was all well, it's 60% guy on bottom, 40%

guy on top, because you've got two legs and two arms, and you can manipulate him.

As we've gotten better, it's more like 55% guy on top, 45% guy on bottom.

That's done because the top guy now knows what he's doing, so it changes.

It's 55% guy on top, 45% guy on bottom, because now I can nullify your attacks.

Now you're at a disadvantage because you're on the mat and there's more friction.

I'm down on bottom.

Athena has side control.

I'm going to open bridge up, get the elbows down.

When I got the elbow down, I'm going to try to get the knee in, but I didn't have any

luck.

This hand I'm going to take my thumb.

I'm going to put it in my partner's armpit.

I'm going to take my elbow, and I'm going to clamp down.

Before I do that, I'm freeing this arm.

This arm is going to come in between my body.

See?

You can see the back of my hand on her arm.

I'm going to use the thumb on the armpit.

I'm going to clamp down.

I'm going to walk my body down as I walk around, like a clock.

Ideally, I would elevate this leg and this arm and come up to a front headlock or catch

a choke.

My opponent knows that, so they posture up.

I continue around to recover guard.

If I were to show you this ... This way.

I'm going to Oompah and get my elbow back.

Here and here.

Boom.

But my knee didn't get in.

My arm transfers across to the body as I secure this arm and clamp down.

It's important to secure and clamp this arm, because if I don't and I circle, she could

just come up and go north-south.

We're here.

Oompah.

Get the elbow down.

Boom.

Control.

Bring the arm across.

Back of the hand pushing my opponent up, scooting my body down.

Hold on.

I've got to turn my head and get it out now.

As I come here, they'll tend to come up.

My hands are going to address her hips, and I'm going to create space.

I'm going to continue to circle and spin around to lock my guard.

This is the free arm spin out.

Very ... It can be applied any time somebody is trying to cut their knee down the middle.

There's so many more things.

By the way, if you can't do that, most of the time you can turn back in and go to guard

recover number one.

Thank you.

-------------------------------------------

Lesson Plan #4 - Pt. 3 - Joe Stevenson | DH Athletic Fit Center - Duration: 3:07.

Hey guys.

I'm here at lesson plan four, part three with my assistant here, Athena Wildon.

We are going to be working guard recovery number three.

Which if I can't use my upper body, I've got to figure out a way to use my lower body and

we're going to do that right now.

Athena.

Now, I [inaudible 00:00:32] and I bridged and I got my elbow in, but I couldn't get

my knee in.

Now my hand, I wasn't having any luck here because she's so strong.

Maybe I couldn't even get my arm here.

So at this point, I use my hand that's on the inside and grab her leg and I pull her

leg and scoot my hip down to her knee.

At this point it allows my leg to contour her leg.

See how the angle is parallel.

I use my free hand to come from her thigh to her ankle and push her ankle out.

If you notice, my hips are now facing her and I'm turned on my side.

I'm going to use my free outside leg to loosely come up and over and hook the foot.

Now I'm going to turn my heel up to trap the foot and start putting pressure on her leg.

Normally this pressures in so my elbow or my hand is going to come to her knee and I'm

going to push it down as I flip, work to get in this position.

I start to push away, she pulls back, I pull over and recovered that.

Now I'm using my legs to recover position.

Lets look at this again.

I can't get my arm all the way through, so I get here and I pull tight.

Then I place here and I push down.

I bring my leg over and I'm pulling it in and I'm pushing her knee in.

As I'm here I bring the knee up and the hand over and I'm pushing away.

I'm feeling her push back, I pull back and I recover my legs to lock the perfect position.

However as you just saw, I came into this position and I was using my leg to hook her

leg, but if I can't get that pressure, she doesn't have that pressure and she keeps her

leg out, I just take my hand to this position here and I let her pull her leg through and

I spin out to the front headlock.

That's why everything here is so cool is because it compliments each other.

One goes with three.

One goes with two.

Two goes with three.

Two goes with one.

If one doesn't work, I'm able to go to three.
